  1. Did you read the manual? https://www.applied-acoustics.com/strum-session-2/manual/ Just a guess but you probably sync to host and set Cakewalk on 3/4 time. Or you find 3/4 loops.
  2. You should use Reaper because Cakewalk doesn’t work like Reaper judging by your complaining in 3 other threads. If you don’t take the time to watch a few videos on the basics or better yet open the documentation using the built in Help module your going to struggle. So far all your complaints are user inexperience related. Cakewalk is complicated and 3 x more powerful than Reaper. It takes time so relax , start watching the tutorials and you’ll be cruising along in a week or so
  3. Are the loops Wave format? Make sure your not trying to use the Apple loops

    No longer free?

You sure your not trying to activate Sonar? Cakewalk Bandlab automatically inserts your serial number. You do need to reactivate every 6 months. There have been a million updates in the last year so log in to the Assistant and download and install the latest version.
  5. This is a old tread and the op never responded I don’t think Michael has his notifications turned on
  6. Re reading what the op is saying I come to the conclusion that this is a project that does not follow the tempo map. A live free time recording. The op might be in aware that they can - 1-copy paste the clip and then drag it to the correct location 2- drag the audio to the timeline and Melodyne will create a tempo map. And if the song was off the grid a pasted clip will not sync up if the tempo is drifting
  7. The only difference between a computer that is used for recording and a computer that is used for editing and playback is zero. But you don’t need an audio interface for editing and playback. All the rules still apply as far as system set up including multiple drives, lots of RAM , fast multi core CPU , silent operation, large power supply. Lots of USB port ports and on and on
  8. Your best way is to purchase an audio interface that has a loopback feature. They are not expensive and its a standard feature of most of the new interfaces. The Loopback channel becomes an Audio Source in OBS. It gives me 2 level meters and controls so I can adjust Cakewalks playback level with my Narration mike. The problem with all the Hacks like the one above is Cakewalk needs to run in a proper ASIO mode or you'll have issues, believe me I tried them all. With the Loopback both Cakewalk and OBS are happy campers and run smoothly using the good driver. I can fire up OBS studio anytime I want and I'm not having to compromise my Cakewalk audio set up.
  9. This! Only drum vst I might use that doesn't have multi outputs is SI Drums. And in the past if I wanted to create separate tracks from a full drum track, I would simply copy the track say 4-6 times and then delete unwanted notes from each track in PVR leaving me with 4-6 drum tracks which each contained the parts I wanted. I can do this real fast.
  10. All the tutorials are found on the Tutorials sub forum. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/35-tutorials/ But Google is the fastest way to get answers. Example " Cakewalk copy and past clips" Some results= https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X3&language=3&help=Arranging.17.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1EKnepfyXE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGtfz2YB4sA
  11. Hey, I wonder if it's this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Khoroshev Say's he lived in Boston! Say's he worked with Mike Plotnikoff he was born here.
  12. Worst comes to worst just create a new Bandlab account using an alternate email. I just did this on a laptop I'm setting up for my Daughter to record audio books with. I didn't want all my info jumbled with hers so I uninstalled the Assistant, re installed and logged in with a new account I created for her. I then updated Cakewalk and had to re log in using that same new account. So now everything is working but under her name. And I showed her she can also log on to this forum to ask questions. The beauty of free software.
  13. Glad you solved it. I was going to say it's almost always a bad plug in. And I seem to remember trying that one myself and it was a bomb. That's why I test all 3rd party( free) plug ins on my office computer first. Keeps my main DAW garbage free. And thanks for posting the solution as this will help others in the future.
  14. Actually what I do is always just export my mix and then I top and tail ( add fade out) in a proper wave editor. That way it's perfect every time. Cakewalk never gets it right. Sure it's an extra step but if you take your mastering seriously it's pretty easy to do this properly.
  15. Thanks for your in-depth explanation of the music licensing system. I forgot all about the piano roll and how that term must have come from the similarities between midi and a punchcard piano roll system. I’ve seen displays of mechanical air driven devices that played a whole band. The Music museum in Scottsdale Az has some of them. it was the mechanical version of midi. Amazing stuff.
  16. I had an idea a while back when this topic was brought up again. If the Arranger Track had a END module that had code built in to stop the song where it was placed. Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus/End
  17. I was thinking because it’s midi and you are using totally different instruments and the vocal and guitar by the time it’s a full song it might be far removed from the midi file to the point of not being something that would be recognizable by the owner. Well bottom line is as long as you don’t try and make money with it. The Op could try and contact the author and ask permission to use it.
  18. Exactly! There's no correct answer to this question. Everybody has a different workflow and Cakewalk gives you a lot of options when it comes to creative routing. You try different options until you find the combination that works best for you.
  19. I'm not sure what your problem is because you most certainly can use 32 bit plug ins with Cakewalk. And my version of 8.5 came with both 32 and 64 bit option when installing. You can install the 64 bit version and still use 32 bit plug ins. They just have to run under the Bit Bridge ( or J Bridge ) wrapper. The only exception was some DX plug ins. Most all of us slowly got rid of our 32 bit plug ins years ago and most all have easily been replaced by something new and better. There are literally 100's of great free VST plug ins. And CbB comes with a lot too. It even comes with a Tape Emulator in the pro channel. I just looked and I now only have 2 32 bit VST's, Drop Zone and Mr Tramp. I use Mr Tramp a lot and it works just fine. You simply install your full version of 8.5 64 bit and all your plug in will be put in the VST folder. Then install CbB and it will find them and use them when it scans. 32 bit plug ins will be colour coded. Cakewalk will automatically use a 64 bit version if available. All your 8.5 project will open in CbB and should load up with the correct plug ins. I do this all the time. I even have Sonar 6 projects. If a plug in is missing Cakewalk will warn you and you can they will be in Brackets in the Synth rack or effects bins. it's usually a old 32 bit 3rd party plug in that I can easily replace. I've only had one that was so old the web site was gone. As I said don't bother cloning, you'll just bring old messes and a zillion issue with you to a new system. Your performance will suck. A nice new clean install to a SSD drive is a huge improvement to older machines. I'm always amazed each time I do this at how fast that computer becomes. You hook the old C drive up with that cable I showed you and once your new system is up and running you just copy stuff to the new drive as you need it.
  20. I would be pretty certain that you are not breaking any copywrite by using that midi clip. Midi clips are not easily copywrite protected anyways because it's just data, it's not really a recording or anything. They made the clip hoping people like you would use it to create something while learning the software.
  21. Looks like you need to install Dim Pro. When they are in brackets that tells you they are not available.
  22. Use velocity If you grab a note blob on the top in the middle it will drag the velocity up or down
  23. It would be crazy to not purchase a new SSD drive to use for your upgrade C drive. Simply pull the old drive and put it aside. What I did was purchased a USB to SATA cable so my original C drive becomes an external drive. I have also used this more than once on laptops where I needed my old OS to use an older Printer. Takes a few minutes to swap them back over. Windows 10 uses a Machine ID system now to authorize. Just don't check "I have a serial number" during install. I upgraded a W7 laptop this way last summer totally free. And I have Sonar 8.5 / 64 installed on my DAW. I just install the bare bones and grab the goodies I wanted. Everything that ever worked with Sonar runs just fine in CbB.
