  1. Vegas( Movie Studio) also uses all my 3rd party effects, compressors, limiters, reverb and so on. So I can create a 48/24 audio track via the exact same audio interface I use for Cakewalk live if I so choose. There’s also the option to open that track in the audio editing software of your choice. Of course it doesn’t do midi but as far as audio goes it’s pretty advanced. It’s based on Sound Forge so it should be.
  2. I fixed the video and added the proper info at the end the original link above has been removed so @nkeelaghan if you do return can you please update the link or just delete it. this is the new link - https://youtu.be/fRkb5cUHs1A Exporting info starts at 3:40
  3. Tutorial #1, 12, 13 and 14 cover all the basics of using Midi tracks in Cakewalk. #1 is just set up but it rules out issues with devices.
  4. Yes this got my curiousity I added WAY more effects thaan anyone should be using to the bin and it just kept growing. If you were crazy enough to need more you can eliminate modules as shown to the left of my screen shot. ANd it does depend on you monitor what you see. This one in my office sucks but my main DAW is finer resolution so I can see everything and then some.
  5. Thanks for reporting this. Something has changed since I made that video. I just tested myself and you are correct there is no way to dirrectly export the sound of the metronome. The method I used in the video used to work, I'm just testing things right now to see what will work. EDIT: OK I found a very simple solution. 1. Add Aux send to Metronome bus to create the aux track in the track pane. 2. set metronome to play during recording 3. arm the Metronome Aux track to record 4. Press record and it will record a stereo track in real time. This will be included in exports and can be panned, level even automated etc. If you export as Stems it will be a track. I'll have to pull my video and re due. Thanks once again for bringing this to my attention.
  6. Reading this that’s the first thing came to mind is what sSteve said above. Back when Gibson dropped the bomb there were lots of threads about how to carry on into the future. Making backup copies of all our included software and Plugins was one of them I have that whole CCC download folder stored in probably 10 locations! It’s worth a lot of money. When I rebuild I just plug in the back drive and first install CCC I then copy all the content from the back up download folder to the new folder that CCC created. Then I don’t need to wait for downloads the software just installs quickly and no need for internet.
  7. First you should always start your own thread instead of hijacking a 2 year old topic. Your issue is that USB mikes are made for podcasts not DAW recording. DAW’s work best with a proper ASIO audio interface and real microphones using XLR cables. And you can’t use Bluetooth either because of the latency. And on all systems including cell phones you can’t use Bluetooth and the built in speakers together. Watch Tutorial #1
  8. You seem like your missing a few key elements in setting up your system correctly. I made these tutorials to help newcomers figure this out quickly without gaps in the information. They are numbered in order of learning Cakewalk from top to bottom. For sure this topic and everything mentioned is covered completly in Tutorial #1. An interesting thing is that message "AC Interface" if you google that it is software to control Air Conditioning and there's no mention anywhere of any Audio or Midi devices that would be called AC. So a question might be if you have any none music software installed?

    Octave problem

This is the forum for Cakewalk. I think Bandlab has a Facebook page for help.
  11. Yes Right click and save as a track template
  12. It never occurred to me to use auto punch with Midi? I guess I’ve always just ignored bad notes if played and easily fix in PVR. If I make a royal mess of a track part way through I actually use my handy dandy R button on my controller or my foot switch if it’s hooked up. But this is the thing! You have to hit the record button BEFORE you start playing the new part. I’ll put my money on that is the reason why the blank space. There could be midi delay involved too. It’s pretty common to have people coming here complaining all their Midi notes are recorded earlier and have to be nudged forward. PDC. So you are actually playing in perfect time but the system plunked the note back in the point before the recording started.
  13. I don’t know if the Op will even return they only came here that one day and started 2 threads with same topic. But reading the excellent answers posted here I hope they see that what they are going through is nothing new. Most of us cut our Midi chops on the original software of the 80’s. And probably each and every one of us had a great workflow on software X at one time or another but had to reluctantly move on or be left in the dust. Had to snicker at the offering the money to pay the Cakewalk team. I did once pay for a personal software improvement. I paid Jeff Kofftinoff a few hundred bucks to add the foot controller via Atari joystick port for me. He was a local software writer later working for Roland and an Editor for the MT 32.
  14. I fire up my Atari emulation to play Buggy Boy and Tetris
  15. We all hate changing our workflow. I started on an Atari and KCS by Dr T. That was an all event list sequencer no piano roll. When my Atari died in about 2004 I was “forced “ to change my workflow to Cakewalk and the PVR. Sure at first it was slow and I didn’t understand nothing but now when I open the Event list in Cakewalk I’m 100% glad I don’t have to use it. All improvements and workflow enhancements are within the PVR not the outdated event list or the staff views. So your basically on your own if you choose not to update your workflow. I can actually fire up my old XP computer and run STeam Atari emulation and KCS still works but it would be sort of pointless. So that’s your best option. If you want to stay in the past it’s best to keep the Computers from that era going.
  16. I understand the request and can see that it would be handy but honestly I just set my punch in point and then one mouse click puts the now time a few bars ahead. I do this with out even thinking about it. If they added the feature I would use it for sure but it would make little difference other than that one mouse click

    Midi

By definition a Master bus is an Audio bus that is the last in the signal path before it goes to your monitoring system as well as usually the source for exported audio files. . Midi tracks on there own do not make sound, so a MIdi master bus would be silent. Midi needs to be sent to an instrument track or outboard hardware. If you have a bunch of midi instruments in a project ( audio source) you can create sub buses that the intruments output is assigned to. So the real question is what are you trying to achieve?
  18. Do other VST's work, like test with SI drums and hit a kit piece. Do you hear any other sound from the project like the metronome?

    Automation

Not exactly sure what you are trying to do? I’ll assume you have a multi track recording of a concert that is continuous for a certain duration and you want to apply different mixes to each song? There are many approaches to how to deal with this. Yes you could simply keep it as one long project and use automation to mix each song. Or what I do is split each song into it’s own project. It depends on what was recorded and what the end recording is used for.
  20. Open the track manager and see if there’s hidden tracks. Hard to tell by your screen shot. Would be better if you showed the track pane and not the video view or bus pane

    Mr Clam 2022

Originaly recorded in around 1998 but it just didn;t fit in on my latest album for obvious reasons of quality. I had made this video with the help of my Grandson a few years ago so I've just replaced the soundtrack.
  22. The big difference for me is the Windows key doesn’t close dialogue boxes when pressed. The Alt key usually does. And yes the dual monitor capture is not an issue for me I shouldn’t have said problem. I rarely need it in the capture but I always crop every screenshot anyway to get rid of the clutter
