Ya not really a solid bit of info but I did find this. https://www.allen-heath.com/media/ZEDi-USB-Windows-Driver-Help.pdf Sems kinda sketchy to me. For sure I have used both Soundcraft and Yamaha mixers that have proper ASIO drivers and those work just fine.

Because that requires you to be a musician or have actual talent. DAWs are slowly being developed for the rest of the world who have a desire to create without needing to develop any skills. It will be interesting 20 years from now to see if this actually results in anything worth listening to ?

This issue is starting to come up more often here. It seems users are trying to use Gaming and Podcasting input and output devices that are not designed for use with Audio DAW's like Cakewalk. These devices use plug and Play Windows drivers and do not support WASAPI drivers. The best solution is to purchase a proper audio interface and a proper XLR microphone. Second solution is only use your computers on board audio system which will support WASAPI. You use the jacks on your computer to access the audio system. Trying to use generic USB audio devices or Bluetooth will not go well, ever.

bug report Abnormally High Input Volume
John Vere replied to AsYouCanSee's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
All of this is covered in detail in the videos. Input echo should not be used on audio tracks while tracking. You use your interfaces direct monitoring so as to eliminate the delay caused by system latency. Using direct monitoring allows you to accurately monitor the recorded signal. You would only use input echo if you are recording to a Guitar Sim. The Scarlett Solo is a very limited interface and is missing a few important features like input PAD. There is also no Mixer control for direct monitoring. Possibly this is done in the software mixer? The Focusrite Control. Not sure if the new models include the Software mixer but my Scarlett 6i6 has a toggle for PAD in the software mixer. -
Sonar 8.5 Producer: Cakewalk TTS1 Audio Suddenly Disappears
John Vere replied to Annabelle's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Well 64 is sustain and set to off so that' is OK, The 121 set to Zero is All Controllers Off so that is also OK. I guess another experiment would be to insert other vst instruments to replace the TTS-1 and see if the issue remains. I know this also might be hard for you do easily, but if you Open the TTS-1 properties or Graphic User Interface can you tell if the main output is all the way up? And if you click on a pre view button does it make sound? The other thing to be aware of is other VST instruments that have Midi output enabled looping back and causing issues if a midi track has it's input set to None and Omni. At least I think it's None. So if you make sure no other VST's in the project have Midi output enabled and change the midi tracks input to your keyboard controller this would rule that out. -
Sonar 8.5 Producer: Cakewalk TTS1 Audio Suddenly Disappears
John Vere replied to Annabelle's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
But my thinking on this is the problems we are now experiencing with the TTS-1 are due to it's slowly being made obsolete by updates to both Cakewalk and Windows OS. So to me it should be solid as a rock on 8.5 and W7? I have never personally had issues with it when I use it to open downloaded midi files. Only time I've had a crash is when I try and add it later on to a project. But I most certainly worked with it without issues and it is an amazing tool for working with GM midi files. The OP's issue does seem to be more related to something hidden causing a volume change. So always questions, right! First open console view and ( might need help with this) notice if any volume controls move when you hit the space bar. It would be good to know if the level change is a MIDI event or an Audio event. Also open the events list and look for any events that change volume like CC 7 or 11. -
Here's one more way that I use when I want more control over things. Open the event list and deselect the stuff you want to keep, like the notes, or PG changes. Then I just pin the DELETE key to the ground and wait a second until it nukes everything.

Not sure what your problem is but I downloaded Cabaret Medley, and it opens fine in Cakewalk with the TTS-1 - I just had to change the instrument to Bank 0 and the Accordion patch and then I had to lower the pitch by -36 because the notes where out of range by 3 octaves. Sound like a cheesy accordion song now, cool. If your not sure about using midi files you can OPEN any midi file with Cakewalk and if there are NO outputs selected in Midi devices in Preferences then the TTS-1 will load and play the file. I then opened it in PVR which quickly explained the lack of sound as I saw it was playing up in C 10 range. I have tutorials on using Midi if you wish to learn how to edit the files.

99% of the time when you change driver modes the master bus grabs the wrong output device. Check your master This is why I recommend always disable all the unwanted inputs and outputs.

Like I say, my very limited observation with the disconnection issue. The 2 Controllers that have a Factory written Midi driver always connect. The Controller that uses a Generic Midi driver needs me to re boot Cakewalk to get it to connect. I should borrow a few of my Sons Controllers and see if my theory holds water. Interestingly the Roland driver was updated by Windows updates. That's nice. I no longer have to keep checking the web site for updates. Not that I ever did because Midi drivers are sort of off my radar most days. Then the Yamaha DX drum brain has a habit of falling asleep after only 10 minutes. So it's a good thing it reconnects without fuss. I need to get out the manual and fix that.

There’s a thread on Theme’s that is a custom theme he’s using. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/31-ui-themes/

I have observed this behaviour in the past. It’s like this for me- Roland controller has a Roland midi driver and can be turned off and on with out issues. It always works and this goes back 15 years Akai Controller uses a Microsoft generic midi driver and it requires I re boot Cakewalk or it doesn’t show. Yamaha DX drums have a Yamaha Midi driver and they behave just like the Roland. They can be turned off and on no problem. Conclusion is that factory supplied Midi drivers are sort of like Factory supplied audio drivers. They are better

Ok so looks like you bought an Audio interface, Good. You should also watch any videos they have on their website and follow installation instructions carefully. Edit after reading what is below this.. And regarding the USB mike that is for Podcasting. You need a proper mike with an XLR cable. USB mikes rarely work with any DAW. Millions of threads on that topic. Now here's my Video on setting up audio interfaces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2pnDOC7HEk

Your sound settings should be found under the top icon which says Affichage I agree with Tim you have not followed anything from my video. You should be using WASAPI shared mode for starters. And as I said in the video disable all the junk you aren’t using for Cakewalk. I’m just working on a new video that is exclusively for on board audio users.
-
And just for general info. If all else fails you can simply create a new account using a different email. Cakewalk is free. The Project files are not part of the software install so will still be fine.
-
It’s a screenshot of my video. Yes screenshots of all the audio settings would help even if not in English. But makes me wonder about what OS you are using if it doesn’t have a Sound settings tab?????
-
And audio interface has good audio drivers. On board audio can work just fine but need to be set up properly Watch video # 1
-
Did your sample rate change?
-
Troubleshooting 101. Swap stuff out until the issue goes away. This can include The VST instruments The keyboard controller- try the virtual keyboard The usb cable USB ports. Even though you don’t think it’s a buffer issue it most certainly can be . Audio interface will certainly improve things in that regard

Isn’t it great to be back on stage! Not only am I playing live again I’ve already been at 3 great festivals.
-
To me this seems simple! open PVR and drag the notes back to the place you want them to stop sustaining? Also check there are no CC 64 on events at the end.
-
I agree with @David Baay If a sound is mono then it should always be a mono track. If you accidentally recorded it in stereo the first thing to do is convert it to mono. Then the tracks pan control will be logical and controlling placement in the mix is straight forward
-
Far from it. Cakewalk is complicated and has a zillion hidden gems like these. You never stop learning
-
Yes plug ins. It’s always a plug in. You might not have changed settings but you might want to see if you’re using a plug in you hadn’t used in the past
-
And don’t forget you can also use the CTRL/W. this toggles space bar behaviour between stopping in place ( pause) and rewind to where you started from.
