Select All ( CTRL A ) Hold down CTRL again and click on the drum track to un select. You don't want to transpose drums or percussion. Now with all the music tracks selected press "N" to open the transpose dialogue and choose the amount. Be warned that transposing too far in either direction can result in some instruments sounding wrong or even some notes not sounding because you put them out of range. You might have to go into that instrument in PVR and transpose certain notes up or down an octave. I have a tutorial about working with downloaded midi files. 105- Importing MIDI files. https://youtu.be/lKDfq-hTb7U

My son has the x18 and it works as planned in Cakewalk. Use the ASIO driver from the Behringer web site And make sure your not using Asio4all completely uninstall it if present . select ASIO. Also make sure the X18 is the timing master as well as the device in sync and caching

Midi routing to what ever instrument track is selected (??)
John Vere replied to Scott Kendrick's question in Q&A
Yes. Input is generally going to be a hardware connection. You would only need input to record new midi data from hardware or the virtual keyboard. Or you could be inputting from a sequencer or drum machine. Last option is to internally patch the output of another instrument. Most cases the instrument or midi track is best set on None. -
Normally I play the notes on my keyboard controller or the drum pads on a digital kit. I simply try and play them with adding the accents as I go. This rarely works perfectly so I then edit the velocity in PVR. I don’t use the drum pane either just the regular view. Read up un using the smart tool and you’ll soon be editing midi notes quickly An option for folks without a keyboard controller is to use the virtual keyboard which has settings for velocity but it is only one value. But this is less painful than manual entering notes. Be aware that velocity is not truly volume. It is designed to imitate the soft and hard timber of striking a instrument. This depends on the VST being used as to how it will react to velocity. Some only have as little as 2 samples. Over time you learn how each instrument sounds at different velocities and work with that. Example is Ample Bass has the sound I like at 106. By 115 it becomes almost distorted. I have general ballpark values I have used since Midi was a Pup. The velocity on drums is not what I use to mix the parts. There will definitely be creative velocity used on kit pieces but it is subtle values used to add realism not to adjust levels. For that I use the DrumVST GUI mixer.

Cakewalk Audio Engine Disengaging on Older Projects
John Vere replied to JoeFilms's topic in Instruments & Effects
To test did you try other projects? Do they work? If it’s only the one project the you are on the right track as 99% of the time it’s a plug in causing the issue. Other common causes of audio issues and things you can try: Are you using an audio interface and ASIO? Everything up to date? Increase buffer size Try bypassing all effects Run the Audio configuration by changing driver modes. Check your clock rate matches in Windows settings. -
Creating sound-alike music for specific bands
John Vere replied to Lee Shapiro's topic in General Music Discussion
There are literally 1,000 of free midi files. And you can use them without copyright issues because you are creating the music and not using the original recording. PM me and I’ll send you some links I also have a few tutorials about using these files -
Possibilities: Roland Gi-10 - This is for sure part of the aforementioned devices in use. It is a pitch to midi device that doesn’t generate audio Only Midi. There’s only Midi jacks and no USB. Korg X50. It has a USB midi port as well as a Midi in and out ports. In the manual page 39 it explains how to pass Midi in to Midi out. Roland X50 ? Possibly meant the Korg. The Roland E X 50 doesn’t have Midi ports. Only USB. Korg X10? Possibly meant the X50 but got mixed up with Gi10.

Sonar 8.5 Producer: Cakewalk TTS1 Audio Suddenly Disappears
John Vere replied to Annabelle's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes this is why I was thinking it might not work for you as it's something you have to see. That's probably common with a lot of VST instrument Graphic Interfaces. I guess that's why they are called that. Just a thought but there are a lot of real good VST instruments that are free and you might be able to install some of these just to get you by until you get your full machine working again. Do you have the Studio Instrument Collection from Cakewalk? It's free with the new Version of Cakewalk and is a separate download. I don't think you need Cakewalk to install them but I could be wrong. Tell us what instruments you need and we could post some links. But once again that might require you get someone to help you install them. -
Sonar 8.5 Producer: Cakewalk TTS1 Audio Suddenly Disappears
John Vere replied to Annabelle's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This was my post from Aug 12th. I didn't get a response from the OP and I was wondering if it was possible for Annabelle to do this as it is a visual way to check if the TTS-1 was set up properly. -
How do I use an iRig2 Audio Interface in Cakewalk for Guitar?
John Vere replied to Lawson Currie's question in Q&A
It seems that Is an interface for IOS operating systems not Windows. You will need a Windows ASIO driver for it to work -
Zoom R8 to Cakewalk - Unable to open audio record device
John Vere replied to justinpbrown71's question in Q&A
I’ll only add this observation about Zoom and the ASIO ?? driver they supply. I own a Zoom G1 stomp box that has USB connection to PC. I’ll put it in the same category as my Blackstar amp and USB drivers. It sucks. They both are just what seems to be a modified generic driver. Cakewalk doesn’t like that. If you would rather be making music that fighting a loosing battle with badly written drivers then do your self a big favor and buy a proper audio interface like a Focusrite. Maybe your Zoom R8 driver is different than other Zooms drivers from the past, that would be great. All I can say is you hook up a Focusrite or any name brand audio interface and install the driver and everything works. Every time. -
You should start your own thread. The OP for this thread disappeared from here in December 2021. I doubt he'll answer. So please start a new thread and supply details of what you are trying to do and how. The more details the faster the solution.

Can't Create New Vocalign Region - might already have one?

It’s a bit fussy how it works but I explain the basic stuff you need to know in this video https://youtu.be/W0xsfLUtYM4 -
Zoom R8 to Cakewalk - Unable to open audio record device
John Vere replied to justinpbrown71's question in Q&A
Follow the instructions in this video and you will have sound. I guarantee it. -
Little confused as first you mentioned a Roland x50 which I see is a Keyboard workstation but then you are also mentioning a Korg X10 which I don’t see as existing? Where does that fit in. The Roland Gi10 I see only generates Midi data via standard Din connection. The only image I could find of a Roland X50 back panel doesn’t seem to have midi jack’s? So is it a Korg or a Roland used To connect the Gi10 to? It seems is what you need is an Audio interface with Midi jacks. Otherwise the Keyboard Workstation needs to be Midi Thru capable.
-
Generally with daisy chaining Midi we go from Device 1 Midi OUT to Device 2 Midi IN and then Device 1 will be sent to the Midi Thru port of Device 2. To have the signal from Device 1 show in the Midi OUT of Device 2 you would need to set that up from within device 2 settings. Which model of Roland Guitar Synth is this? Does it have USB or just the 5 pin Din.? Also make sure you download and install any Roland Drivers if available. Even if it seems to work as plug and play, I find it best to use the drivers from the Support page.

The wave form clearly shows a export that was clipping the Master bus. Do you have any limiters or analyzing tools on the Master? You might want to watch my tutorials on how to export and master a finished song. Maybe it will help. #22 & #24 for sure and there are a few others as well like #28&29

Funny he said he didn’t do this but anyone with long time Cakewalk experience has done exactly this a dozen times. There’s really only that one way I know of to make the Control bar disappear. It’s most certainly nothing to do with an update. As far as I can tell the latest update is that much more stable than all the previous versions. It’s a shame when there is pilot error involved and peoples first reaction is to re install Cakewalk or roll back. It’s 99% of the time totally unnecessary. As far as accidentally typing when the dialogue box looses focus, When I do this I always re- type the word to re toggle the stuff back to where it was. If that doesn’t work I just reload my workspace.

Dang I can’t believe I had that so wrong. Of course it works just like every mixing board I’ve ever owned. The effects send is post and the auxiliaries are pre. Sorry about that I guess I better delete that so as not to contaminate the internet any more than it already is with bad info.

I don’t use midi volume. I use either the volume control of the instruments GUI or the instrument track Gain. My volume sliders stay at unity unless the track gets automated. Things are always plenty loud and most times it’s a matter of turning track gain down so they are around-10db to -6db.
-
I see what you mean. I just re read the post and originally I thought the OP was referring to the project was not playing through the master bus. So you might be right and the bass was the first and only instrument. But the metronome should have still be using the Master bus. The 6i6 is getting old and that’s why I bought a newer interface a few years ago. But they seem to keep updating the drivers and for me the 6i6 outperforms the new Motu M4. I’ll see how this new driver does I can always roll back.
-
This is not the issue as you use your direct monitoring and not the input echo. I have never used input echo on an audio track. The Op seems to have just had a minor glitch in the Scarlett driver.

I think those are the ones that a lot of the stuff is outdated now. They are based on Sonar.
