That makes sense then. Thanks and fingers crossed for a new freebie soon for you ?
-
I thought the membership was quite a bit more. Or did you get a deep membership discount based on products you already owned?

Only one license with these guys too which puts me off them a little... I had been considering picking up one or two of their plugins, but I'm not a fan of that..

Thanks ? I'd been waiting for this one to come on sale and had just been demoing it. At first I didn't like it not having an output gain post EQ, until I opened up the PA11 part of it and discovered it had that, along with a few other goodies, including Drive! It really is a bit of swiss army knife EQ this one. It can do stereo, or mid/side, but I love being able to hit the x2 button and get more EQ bands, just in case the 3 bands don't allow you to shape the sound enough, or you want some boost and cut somewhat close to each other. Very nice and simple monitoring options for M/S/L/R/LR too. Surprised this doesn't get more attention.. it can get a really nice warm richness to the sound. Looking forward to using it more ?

Thanks Brian, I've been meaning to give it a demo at some stage anyway, so it might still be worth having with those limitations. Of course given recovery time is fixed, then it's likely it's not going to work with everything, but I guess I'll see how it goes ?

I really love that idea ? I was wondering about Royal Compressor in particular and what you get left with too. I could've got it for free with purchase, but I found out a bit later that United Plugins are actually pretty good!

This is SO me! Haha... I'm thinking I've got all I really need, but even now I've got a bit a of a mental note of things I could get swayed by if on a good enough sale.. some others that pop up on here I even go as far as adding them to the cart ? But there's worse things to spend money on, so it could be worse ?

Mods... Remove this infiltrator! ? Haha.. I do get it though.. I'm slowing down now as I have most of the core tools I needed (and a few extra! ?) Still definitely picking up any freebies too though!
-
Oh that can definitely happen! ? I use a spreadsheet and every time I get a plugin, I add it to that. It includes the developer, type of plugin (i.e. compressor, EQ, Synth, etc), the date of purchase, the store I bought it from, if it includes VST3 and the price (or free). Along with a few others. Very easy to then filter and know exactly what I have from each company and sometimes scarily.. how much I've spent with each company.. and even more scarily how much I've spent overall! Just looking at the total before buying something else has saved me quite a few new purchases ?

That's quite an interesting difference and I do get what you mean by the robotic side. I guess sometimes that's perfect, but for other situations that versatility could be very useful. I'll check that out a bit more now. Thanks for tip ?

It was pretty much instant for mine, but it's possible their servers have been getting a little bit hammered since then ?

Must be an interesting compression algorithm ??

Welcome guys. Enjoy ?

I was looking at that one and I can imagine that being quite useful. I already have Soundtoys PanMan and Cableguys Pancake 2 and now the new Cubase FX Modulator but they do seem to allow you to get some different sound/modulation between them, so it doesn't hurt to have a few ?

That's pretty impressive Craig .. I might have to revisit that at some stage then. I prefer things that are lighter on disk space, but sometimes they really are justified, so I don't completely rule anything out..
-
As much as I totally jumped on that initial offer, I did somewhat think that the extra disk space might not be justified compared to Valhalla, Exponential Audio, etc. They're really good and take up next to no space ?
-
Great stuff Kevin. I don't have too much experience with their plugins, but I do love some of the more creative panning plugins, so looking forward to giving it a shot ?

https://lp.soundparticles.com/sos-freeplugin Exclusive Sound On Sound offer. Free offer, usually $49. Have you imagined having drums moving around you to the beat? Instead of static panning or boring autopans, Energy Panner gives you organic movements that react to the music. From big movements to slight shifts, Energy Panner will bring life to your mixes AAX Native, AU, AUv3, VST and VST3 Windows and Mac ?

I saw that... Although some look remarkably similar to some of their current ones ?? I didn't know that about iLok though. I'm sure some people will be very happy about it!

I actually don't mind some of these, but they do seem a bit like abandonware and no VST3. Given Steinberg has announced they're deprecating VST2 (and have already for Mac), I'd be reluctant in trusting them to update them.
-
I suspect they'll need to keep that, as it is for previous editions, but it sounded like the new editions won't have the Bitly link. They probably should just change a magazine purchase to a single edition subscription. That way everyone gets a subscription code, while protecting it from users getting it as part of their library access, Readly or others which is what I assume they are trying to stop. Otherwise if buying a single copy doesn't get you the free downloads, then I fear they're going to lose a lot of customers...
-
That only provides the serials though doesn't it? You normally have to go to the Bitly URL when you buy the mag. But I've read that's changed and you need a subscription code now. Holding off on buying a single edition until I know if that still works..

Great price and looks interesting. Think I'll hold back until these guys update to VST3, but I'll keep this one in mind. My other main Phaser is from Soundtoys and they still haven't updated yet either last I checked, so no point me adding more VST2 to the kit given it's been announced they're deprecating that standard. Now that PA, NI and iZotope are all one company, I wonder if that might help drive a/the new open source alternative plugin standard. Would be great to get rid of AAX, AU, VST2 etc and just have one universal standard.. would save a truckload of diskspace with installers alone.. plus reduce so much testing. Fingers crossed ?

Great stuff and hope you enjoy them. I only just discovered SSL 360 (mentioned in this thread too) which is free and gives you an interface to control all the instances of these plugins across any tracks using a virtual SSL mixer! SSL 360 plugin mixer for channel strip 2 and bus compressor 2 Quite an interesting option/extra ?

I have the BX 9000J and Townhouse and these do add something different. I prefer the SSL buss comp to townhouse. It's cleaner, but great for glue, so might be more versatile for the master buss.. Townhouse will still have it's place for me too, as sometimes it's not a clean sound I'm after. Thinking drum bus, etc. Console E is based off the 4000E, whereas this Channel Strip 2 is 9000K. Its a much cleaner sound, so should add something different to what you have. Even though they're closer, in ways, I prefer the SSL strip more than the BX 9000J. Especially the high EQ. I'm sure I'll still be using the BX 9000J too though. I like the THD, TMT etc that BX add. Just different options ?
