I'd say the volume has definitely dropped, but that's also because Lars was really good at posting all deals. For me personally, if it's a developers recurring regular prices (or I don't like them!) then I often won't spend time posting them. Using Waves as an example, but it applies to quite a few developers, if they're having a $29 sale, I really see no point in posting them, as then we're more free advertising rather than helping the forum members get deals. Not quite the same, but with JRR, most of us seem to just cherry pick the best bargains to share. Lars spent a lot of time making posts for almost, if not all of them. But Lars posting them probably does benefit some people who have been waiting for the next sale. I'm just not sure how he found the spare time to do all that!

I think Retrologue was single machine too (great synth though). I wouldn't be surprised if these all convert over to 3, the same as Cubase now when they migrate the license for it to the new activation system. I haven't installed this one, but a demo video of it I watched didn't look too bad, so I'll give it a shot I'd say.

Thanks! I have this via Audient. I haven't decided if I'll keep this one yet.. any interesting trades might determine that decision, so if anyone is interested, I'd give it some thought ?
-
Better not mention that it also comes with a freebie too ?
-
If FM8 is still $10 then both! ? I prefer the effects and UI in F'Em. Both very capable synths, so either choice, or both is good though.
-
I picked up Boz Transgressor 2 earlier for $21.36 or something which is about as cheap as it gets. Biotek did catch my eye too.. I got F'Em on that deep sale a while back and really like that, which is why Biotek seems appealing!

I could've sworn I tried that code earlier with it and it wouldn't accept it! JRRShop is always funny as to what code works with which product! Nice find on the other code. Let us know what you think. I have the IK one and Arturia, but at that price I couldn't rule it out ?

These add quite a lot of latency in Cubase.. I was trying a few out in a project and noticed the additional latency and traced it back to Goliath, Reelight and Firechild. Not too much of an issue in mixing stage, but I think I'll probably pass given I've got some good alternatives. Still not bad plugins though.
-
Yeah those conveniences can count for a lot too. That's interesting about Cyclone.. I think I might even own it, but didn't install it, as it was only VST2. I think I got it with Union synth and a few other things for less than $5 in total! I really like Elysia Alpha so it sounds like it might be worth a look.

You can get mid-side from the original (or any stereo compressor/EQ/etc) by using the free Voxengo MSED plugin. Takes two seconds to add to it, one instance before SHMC and one after. Not quite as convenient as the Class A having it native and I do prefer the parameter linking in the Class A when using it in stereo mode, but I still use both at times. Class A is a no brainer at $15 for sure.

Glad you liked the freebie Mibby and that VPRE-73 is a real gem. One of my favourites from them too ?
-
Welcome Peter and in general I find I dislike the majority of plate reverbs I try, which is probably also a lot of personal preference rather than them necessarily being bad. There are only a few that I do like. I've only played with this one briefly on guitar and initial impressions were very good. I need to test it further to say for sure, but as a freebie it seems excellent. In terms of their other plugins, the VPre-73 is one of my favourite Pres and it can get a really nice warm sound that works on so much source material. It can be subtle or pushed a little further and still sound good. Highly recommended. Their VLA-2A (and the Mark II which you get for free if you own the original) version are very good too. The Mark II version was quite a nice improvement/alternative. If I didn't already have so many compressors and EQs then I'd probably test and own more of their plugins. Great value and the developer does make some excellent plugins. VPRE-73 is often on sale for less than the $29, so it might be better to wait for a sale where they're discounting that one in particular. However even at $29 it's still good value.

Black Rooster Audio: NEW FREE PLUG-IN RO-GOLD VINTAGE PLATE REVERB https://blackroosteraudio.com/en/landing/ro-gold Introducing our newest free plug-in: the RO-GOLD vintage plate reverb. This physically modeled plug-in captures the true tone of a solid gold plate reverb, turning any signal into 24k magic. The most luxurious and exclusive vintage room effect meets modern-day features for the highest-quality sound and optimal usability. With only a few, simple-to-use parameters, it has never been easier to achieve an authentic vintage reverb sound. Gold Plate Reverb RO-GOLD A brief history The RO-GOLD was faithfully modeled after an iconic hardware classic, and upgraded with a 24k gold plate, for the most luxurious vintage reverberation experience. Our plate simulation approach allows us to authentically capture the analog unit's sound and feel as closely as possible while still including a few unexpected twists - all in the beautifully designed, easy-to-use package that is the RO-GOLD. Engineers have experimented with foil and metal plates to reproduce expensive reverb rooms since the 50s. However, installing and controlling a real metal plate reverb has never been easily attainable, nor has it been readily available to every producer or small studio - especially when it comes to real gold plates. As it often happens, this type of hardware remained exclusive to a select few elite studios for a long time. Nevertheless, plate reverberation is audible in many 50s and 60s hit songs, where engineers extensively used this technique. Not only does the RO-GOLD bring you the sound of these sought-after hardware classics, but it also captures the true tone of a solid gold plate, which would cost millions to recreate in real life. This 24k gem allows you to set up your own retro room sound, that is both warm and mellow. With only a few, simple-to-use parameters, it has never been easier to achieve an authentic vintage reverb sound.

Lots of good info here I'd say. And welcome ? https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/35-tutorials/

I own this one, but there doesn't seem to have been a lot (/any!) updates since I got it.. I get they may not need to add features, but VST3 and compatibility at least, or some visible signs of life would be good ?
-
Definitely a good tip. You would almost just assume they would be compatible, so I could see people getting caught out by that... rock solid on Cubase luckily.
-
That was the one that surprised me.. I considered upgrading as I really quite like this one, but they were still only VST2. I think I read somewhere they were working on VST3 though.
