  1. That does seem pretty unique! VCS I demoed a while ago and like it, but it's very clean. I think I would use my SSL strips over that one for clean and I have too many channel strips, but it is a nice option if I didn't have them. I've been giving some of them a test run and so far VCL-864U is the front runner.. it seems to handle a LOT of gain reduction. Flywheel I've heard lots of great things about. On the default settings it doesn't wow me, but I just got Overloud Tapedesk, which I do really rate so I'm A->B testing against that. When you start pushing Flywheel though, dial in some hysteresis and enable crosstalk it starts getting a bit more of a vibe. It's not an instabuy for me yet, but I'm going to spend a bit more time with it.. price is definitely right! I'm kind of wondering if this is a last hurrah sale and they might get gobbled up by Soundwide with PA/NI/iZo.. these prices aren't common for Fuse at all..
  2. I just saw the email and was actually surprised! The majority of sale prices are boringly predictable... they're real sale prices! What are everyone's favourites?
  3. Unless their new Magma collection doesn't involve WUP it's unlikely that I'll buy any of their collection, but I'm onboard for this freebie so far ?
  4. I expected to much more underwhelmed... I'm somewhat intrigued by this now ?
  5. Glad it helped and I'm a little the same with the lowest price like that too! I had thought I might get Effectrix at some stage, but I find using this is a little more creative and likely to come up with things that might not come to mind in Effectrix. This has all of the main effects that I wanted for that anyway and in some senses I prefer this as it's easier to hold an effect on for a longer amount of time.
  6. Thanks Zo, awesome points and very useful! I do have the IK Distressor, but I had been hearing a few things around their version too. But it seems like everyone is jumping on that bandwagon at the moment, so it might be good to see some of the newer Distressor clones as well before jumping in. Out of curiosity, how would you rate the IK against this one? Electra I haven't tried at all, but I'm going to give it a demo just in case. Out of all your EQ plugins, what would be your top 3 and why? Looking Clariphonic for mastering duties, so in that same kind of area.
  7. I'm pretty anti subscription, as I like to know that if I want to stop paying, or open a project years down the track I don't need to re subscribe, or pay extra, but their subscription does get some praise.
  8. Yes, that's right and that's how I found them. But sometimes they go on sale and they forget to remove them from there, so you get a double dip on discounts, which I suspect is what's happened with this one ?
  9. Thanks Fleer and these are pretty much definite now for me after trying them too. Goldplate has moved to a maybe.. I do like it, but given it's by Relab, I thought I'd try the Relab Essentials and in some settings I think I almost preferred that. I still want to spend some more time with it first though. I'm also trying the Hammer DSP and thinking of giving Blyss a go as well.
  10. Now that is a solid freebie... I really like that thing.. I already owned it and just picked up the Cherry Audio Year Two collection which includes the Voltage Modular version too!
  11. ANA can definitely be used for some great and analogue movement type sounds. It was literally updated to 2.5 which is a major release (free update) in the last few weeks too ? I find often that presets suck and don't show what a synth can do. Not always, sometimes they're the easiest way to test and they sound great, but some synths I would've passed on if I judged them by the presets alone. Some of the onboard effects are really good as well.
  12. $4 in August and full price ($43) in May. I didn't check any other dates ? http://web.archive.org/web/20220521084856/https://splashsound.org/oldschoolkeys.html I have seen it free for maybe 3 or 4 times I think though.
  13. I was really surprised by the IK version.. their instruments can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but that was a hit. I got that and the SampleTron2 for free in the group buys and these things are both cool.
  14. I think it's done a few rounds of freebies, but I'm pretty sure I bought it for less than $5 or so a number of years ago and it's been available to buy in between. From memory it's actually not bad!
  15. Sugar Bytes: Artillery 2 ($29.50 in cart @JRRShop)(Maybe pricing mistake and it's taking 50% off the sales price in cart. Audio Deluxe has it for $59.00 on sale from $119.00 https://www.jrrshop.com/sugar-bytes-artillery Same with this one too: SUGAR BYTES THESYS MIDI STEP SEQUENCER ($24.50 in cart instead of the $49.00 sale price it's listed at. https://www.jrrshop.com/sugar-bytes-thesys
  16. Have you tried the Hammond B3 from IK? I reckon that could probably sit in a rock mix pretty well.
  17. Black Salt Audio Clipper ($19.99 @ Plugin Alliance EXT) This precision mix tool has only two controls, so dialing in an aggressively bold sound has never been easier. The only way to achieve modern loudness without destroying the punch and impact is with smart, purposeful clipping in the mix. CLIPPER-1999 Use this voucher code during checkout, it expires 11:59 pm PST on November 24 https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/black-salt-audio-clipper.html
  18. What are everyone's favourites? I was thinking maybe out of (or all!) Novatron, Clariphonic, Gold Plates and Omega bundle. There isn't a heap of reviews on a lot of the Kush plugins. It pops up from time to time, but not super common.
  19. I'd probably not buy any more of these as they're not really developing / supporting them. But I don't mind some of their old ones.
  20. For the Overloud GEMS, I started with the COMP LA mainly for the 3A to replace the Waves version, but I really quite like the 2A which is included as well. You can switch between both versions inside the plugin. It has Mid/Side and saturation can be dialed in so you get a little, or as much as you like. From the 5 Gem bundle I just got: COMP670 COMPRESSOR LIMITER It's simply better than any of my Fairchild 670 emulations and like the LA, it's Mid/Side and can dial in harmonics as needed. It also includes 3 different studios you can select that they've emulated. TAPEDESK I have plenty of tapes and I like the others too. This does respond a little differently and I like how it sounds. It's light on CPU compared to some of my other favourites as well. It also has 3 different pres it emulates that you can select from and they sound quite different to each other (S4000,N80,T88) . It seems to do that tape saturation thing well where it gives it a bit more body. DOPAMINE I thought it was a gimmick, but people rave about it so I tried it. It works in a similar fashion to exciters and I did wonder if I could just recreate it with EQ, but it does seem to add a little something more. It's selectable between 361 and 180 models. EQ495 - SUPER-MUSICAL EQ Actually their summary is pretty good. It's just a really nice EQ with curves that work on a lot of material. VOICE This was a last minute inclusion and I don't like all in ones normally. But it includes a lot of different analog emulations and there's nothing that says it can only be used on voice. But the presets are really good jumping off spots and the de-box are simple and effective. It is more expensive to buy which makes sense as it includes, tape, de-ess/de-box, EQ, delay and other emulations but it is included in the GEM bundles, so it's no more expensive. I'd already been demoing the first 3 a lot, some with the EQ495 and then voice I just started giving a run in the Black Friday sale, so I don't have quite as much time with that one. I've added some notes about some things that stood out. They all have a certain level of decent analogue emulation. They're not analogue of course, but they're closer to that sound and response than many others that try. They also sound nice and wide, but natural. The others are probably amazing too, but I have lots of the others in different developers and I'm 100% happy with my choice after using these ones ?
  21. Very impressed by the Overlouds. I love all of the ones I grabbed. I picked up the 5 GEMS from JRRShop for $209.16. They're pretty expensive when not on sale, but that worked out around $42 each which gets them in the ballpark of a lot of the competition. But the sound... ☺️
  22. The thing that I have in mind as well, is that it's better to cover some different developers that add some new ideas, sounds, etc. I love a heap of PA stuff, but I'm getting more inspired by some of the plugins from other companies that just sound different. I picked up some of the Overloud plugins today and I would say they add a flavour I don't get from PA. PA do have some new cool plugins and I'm probably going to end up with Kirchhoff-EQ, but overall this feels like I'd just be getting more of the same. I think there's probably a sweet spot too.. I suspect I own too many of the plugins, but if someone was starting, or owns a lot less of them, I think this deal could even be quite good.
  23. Yeah I've got the same offer. It's not instabuy territory for me, because I've already got most of the main ones I wanted. It is an interesting offer though, so I'll give them points for being a bit more creative.
