You said "where can I read about this", if you don't understand that implies you want more information, it explains why you asked.
-
What additional information do you require @msmcleod has been quite detailed, he is also staff so should know what he is talking about.

As a general rule you would send your problem to the support department of the company you believe is the root cause of your problem. You would politely provide them with the following information. The specification of your PC, CPU, make, model, speed number of cores and threads. The amount of RAM installed. Then details of your audio device, make, model, which driver model is use. Your computers OS release and build. Your MIDI controller and MIDI interface. What plugins, VSTi or hardware you are tryin to record, with a complete step by step breakdown of how to reproduce the issue. Infact in a peer to peer forum, like this one, if you genuinely wanted help you would provide that information to the forum members so they knew what they were dealing with. For all we know you could be running a cheap laptop, with a 1.3GHZ CPU, 2 core 2 thread, with 4 gig RAM, the onboard Realtek sound device, OS must be Win 10 as Sonar can't be installed on anything less. How about sharing some more information about your computer instead of complaining that you not getting any help?

As I understand Cakewalk have always included the latest ASIO libraries at build time, meaning that the entire ASIO functionality is available to any .dll requiring them makes a call. The other thing you may not know is that the Cakewalk dev team identified a serious bug in Steinbergs ASIO SDK and provided them with the fix.

@Canopus please correct the above to Sension Drummer 3, not Superior Drummer 3. If you click on the ... in the top right of your post you can edit your error. Superior Drummer 3 is a vastly Superior product made by Toontrack.

It would not say compliant simples. As you apparently know ASIO4all is actually Windows XP WMD driver in a wrapper to make it appear to be ASIO. Which was needed back in the 1990's when not all audio hardware had real ASIO drivers, well the good hardware did but the cheap stuff didn't. Now in this modern day only companies not prepared to pay for the Steinberg license and SDK to develop proper ASIO drivers, use either ASIO4all or ASIO compliant, compliant not actual, just compliant, which is sad. Of course this may all become totally irrelevant if/when Microsoft introduce the new native Windows ASIO driver, which is if running Windows ARM64 you should have access to along with MIDI 2.0. This drive had been develop in conjunction with Steinberg so should be good for most hardware.
-
@Canopus the operative word is "compliant", doesn't mean it is a full ASIO SDK drive it just meets the some of the rules of ASIO.

@Magic Russ historically SONAR cost between 60 to 450 to buy. The high valued versions came with a licenses, which you paid for in the cost, for a number of products. The Power dithering and Audio stretching algorithms being a couple of them. They were not free. Though they very generously did so for CbB, it is apparent they feel they can't no longer pay that licence fee for a product they are now providing free.

Does free version of Sonar disables itself like CWBL?
Wookiee replied to Misha's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Read the forum, it works just the same as CbB except it is a cutdown/reduced functionality version of Sonar. If you had read the release notes you would have discovered that those functions in menus with a Crown next to them are only available in the full version. Again if you had read the release notes, there is nothing in the release notes that says you are going to be forced to do anything. This is just you trying to stir a muddy pot that does not exist as you seem so fond of doing. Just like CbB you will need to reactivate every 30 days, which is not unreasonable as it gives them data on how many people are using the free version regularly. -
Unfortunately not it only holds a single sample.

@Jorge Tata Arias as I understand it cancel your current monthly, then when it should renew, renew as an annual. I don't know for sure as I never went with the monthly option.

Normally you would use a drum sampler.

Can I save meter option horizonal in workspace or something else?
Wookiee replied to AB9's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
@AB9 as @John Vere says you can set these in a Workspace. Either pick one, Workspace, make your changes and save the Workspace with a new name, or you can build a custom Workspace for yourself. Just remember if you make a change you must save it. -
Are you saying the envelopes are bring reassigned between sessions. I have had envelopes become orphaned, but that has not happened in years now. Have you reported it support@cakewalk.com?
-
@Astraios have you viewd what other options exist. That indicates what you are editing, normally you would have selected it yourself, are you saying it is completely random?

[Solved]Project File of April and exported Midis broken
Wookiee replied to Heinz Hupfer's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Have you, @Heinz Hupfer tried opening in safe mode? -
I suggest try opening a new project and see if you can save it, that will give you a clue if project can be worked on. If I remember correctly the free trial was unlimited functionality, but obviously after the trial....

Wookiee replied to Dana Moore's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
@John Vere to clarify SONAR X3 is part of the intellectual property purchased by Bandlab Technologies. -
Moving Clips Forward a Specific Number of Measures
Wookiee replied to chamlin's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Ripple edit is designed to help move stuff. To move, say your entire project four bars, so you add a four bar intro. 1. Enable Ripple edit all. 2. From the project menus select insert time and measures. Place the now time cursor at the point you want to insert those 4 measures. 3. In the box enter 4, ensure all options are ticked, click OK 4. Disable Ripple edit all. (You will regret it if you don't) -
@Al Murray first thing in Preferences deselect Zero MIDI controllers on stop or is it rewind can't remember, it is one of those. Do you actually have the correct Patch and Bank set in the Patch and Bank selection of the track in Sonar? If not there is just a chance it can reset to Patch 1 Bank 1. You have presumably add an instrument definition for the Juno?

Moving Clips Forward a Specific Number of Measures
Wookiee replied to chamlin's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
The optimum way to do this is with Ripple edit. Either Ripple edit all, to move the entire project forwards or even backwards. Or Ripple edit selected. Slide does not always move automation. -
Graphics setting in Sonar Platinum big problems
Wookiee replied to Dana Moore's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
@Amberwolf it clearly states in the bit you quote that Cakewalk Sonar and CbB will open Cakewalk WRK & CWP files which are the file extensions used for Cakewalk Projects. At no point do I say that the Projects created inbthe Web based app Bandlab can open Cakewalk WRK or CWP files. You also miss the fact that using the Cakewalk transfer app Cakewalk Sonar and CbB Projects can be opened in Bandlab as can Bandlab Projects be opened in Cakewalk Sonar and CbB. -
Graphics setting in Sonar Platinum big problems
Wookiee replied to Dana Moore's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Somewhat incorrect @Amberwolf Cakewalk Sonar and CbB will open any Cakewalk WRK or CWP file going back to the DOS days. -
@WPP are you using the same template? This is not a problem I am seeing here.

Thank you sir, most kind.
