  1. Because I missed the word YOU out of the question why do YOU use it. Simples
  2. @pwalpwal back in the 90's there was a lot of very unnecessary infighting between the technical press. During the 80/90's transition you have to remember it was not a matter of PC/Apple but also Amiga's, and Atari's and all the other computer platforms trying to dominate the DAW market. There was lot of evidence that those who could afford to "pay" the press got exposure. Twelve Tone Systems, the company that gave birth to the Cakewalk products was a really small one or two man band, who had no money could not afford to make such payments. Unfortunately those who have so called "power & influence" are very fruit based computers biased. Consequently they push the fruit based computer platform.
  3. Two questions. 1. If it isn't main stream why did the piano great Mr Ray Charles use it in his studio? 2. If it is not mainstream why are you using it? Would you not rather be in with the cool kids, down with the main peeps, in with the mainstream crowd.
  4. Historically Cakewalk always got slagged off in the early music technology press for being PC only and only supporting DX & DXi plugins. When the omnipotent beings gift to all electronic musicians was either Logic or Cubase. Irrespective of how clunky they both were on either PC or early Apple platforms. It is also strange how when Apple purchased Logic and dropped Windows support, the fact that Logic was now a single platform DAW was not an issue, but fir Sonar it was. Neither was it an issue that it dropped native support for VST & VSTi plugings, which it still doesn't support without some serious cludging.
  5. Err don't comprehend, just because something is the only one, which is actually incorrect Sonarisn't the only PC only DAW. . If you don't test on a PC then you can't be testing for use in any DAW running on a PC from, Cubase, to Studio One, from Mixcraft (which is PC only) to Bitwig, from Pro Tools to Reaper.
  6. @pwalpwal can I ask why you want Cakewalk to support what was; 1. A 1990's workaround for audio interfaces that did not have a native ASIO driver? 2. A Windows XP WMD/KS driver in a wrapper to disguise itself? 3. A driver that fails Steinberg's own basic ASIO driver test? Not sure why in 2025 you want to go back to a 30 plus year old technology. Why not ask Microsoft to design a native Audio API, like the MAC Audio Units that is as efficient or more efficient than ASIO or AU? That would be a much more interesting demand.
  7. The more subtle question is why aren't plugin dev's testing on PC's period? Because that is a bigger truth than just not testing in Sonar.
  8. Thanks, Defender won't have any impact on performance, Wired Network puts less load on your system, which is why I asked. Any other programs running at the same time? What Nvidia driver do you have running?
  9. @Aaron Doss what Anti virus/ malware software? Are you running a wired or wireless network?
  10. I disagree, rolling back will not identify what is causing the issue, for his/her system, as you are removing the issue, not resolving or working around it. As the issue does not appear to affect all, just certain individual. Which implies a certain set of circumstances, soft/hardware combinations. For instance I have not experienced the same problem, how many others are raising the issue in this or other threads on the same problem of sluggish UI? True no roll back is an irritating but is the situation as it stands.
  11. @Aaron Doss there is no roll back, and as noted it is not always the solution. Perhaps if you provide some system specs, we might be able to identify the issue,
  12. Along with checking the event list, you could try MIDIOX to check for note off messages are being correctly transmitted.
  13. Try a different USB cable, or even try ferrite beads.
  14. @minminmusic I run an i9 14900k yet to experience any issues. You don't mention your interface, make and model, or the driver you are using, or the sample rate or sample size. My interface is a Focusrite Clarett Pre 8 USB, using their ASIO driver at 44.1kHz between 96 or 128 samples. Personally not used the MCompressor you mention, but I am totally in the box using modelled synths from GForce, Arturia, Korg, Cherry Audio without issue.
  15. As I noted, you are talking of a product that was pre Roland ownership, from the year 2000. It is not surprising that they have no record, Cakewalk Inc was purchased by Roland, then sold to Gibson, who then dumped the product. Fortunately someone picked up the Intellectual property rights to the code, along with someone else, rescuing as much history as possible. Why not try Cakewalk by Bandlab any historic projects you have will open in it. The interface has changed but the basic paradigm is the same.
  16. If you know what you old email was provide support@cakewalk.com with that they may be able to assist.
  17. @SUMIT SIMLAI two things to consider. 1. SONAR X1 Producer is not a Bandlab product. Bandlab Technologies did not buy any aspect of Cakewalk Inc, only the th IP of the code base, no products, no responsibility or liability to existing products or customers. 2. It stopped being supported by its owner, Gibson, in November 2017 when they dropped the whole Cakewalk Product line. You should be able to login to your old Cakewalk account and download all the required files. If you cannot remember your old username and password try contacting support@cakewalk.com, providing proof of ownership etc, they may be able to help you
  18. @henkejs do you have any other audio devices or drivers active? Try disabling them all, HDMI, Realtek etc. and trying again.
  19. You do Realise that X3 became SONAR Platinum, which after having the IP sold, became Cakewalk by Bandlab which has matured into Cakewalk Sonar. Which to simplify it, means they are all built on the same code base, or put another way Cakewalk Sonar is just an updated version of X3, probably exactly where X3 would have ended up if Gibson hadn't had their little hissy fit in November of 2017, and did what they did so many time before to software they acquired. The big difference is it now appears to be owned by an owner and a company that cares, rather than a company who really didn't.
  20. @Cannimagine unfortunately there is no connection between SONAR Platinum and the new Sonar. Different owners.
  21. @Murray Webster, subject to being corrected by the "expert" when recording ideally you are looking to achieve something called the Total Round Trip time. Ideally that is around 10 to 12 ms as that is the average latency that is undetected by the human ear. Apparently some Sonar radar operators can detect better. A guitarist standing 10 feet from his amp experiences approximately 10 ms of latency. My question is why are you using such a low sample level. Many people achieve good results at 96, 128, 256, I suggest increasing your samples to a significantly higher figure. If you still have issues try downloading the free Resplendent LatencyMon which might help with identifying where the latency is being introduced.
  22. @Sock Monkey whatever, you try running an underpowered cpu, say a two core 1,5 ghz at 96 samples. Your CPU dictates how fast it can process data, it really is that simple. But I have noted how much of an expert you are.
  23. @Murray Webster as Latency both Audio and MIDI are a correlation between Computer power and MIDI/Audio hardware, without knowing what your computer is we cannot help. Personally I use a Focusrite Clarett Pre 8 USB and Arturia Keylab 88 Mk 1 without any latency issues. Running at 96 samples and capable of real-time recording with FX.
  24. @midist you do realise SONAR X3 is unsupported software? The company, (Gibson), that owns it dropped support for the product in 2017.
