For Win and Mac Questioning Juan: Isn't that kind of what almost every guitar amp sim does? Answering Juanita: ¡Claro! (Oh course!) I haven't yet tried it, probably it uses different algorithms (than an amp sim) and it does a lot more mangling (per demo video).
