A mastering YouTube engineer says LOUDER does not sound better....

So, I had a discussion via comments on Emily Bowie's channel about her Mastering video about my saying that music sounds better if it's LOUDER and she disagrees.

 

 

So, maybe I didn't explain it correctly in the comments section OR maybe I am wrong altogether??

Please join the comments section to help explain to this "mastering engineer" about loudness perception can be misleading you into thinking something sounds better.

She also doesn't believe in A/B ing tracks normalized while using EQ.

Is this opinions or anyone know of any research that can be referenced in this subject?

Any of your help, big or small, will be thanked!

People used to like headroom in their music, however this is what makes good Classical music so hard to hear in your car (the road noise drowns out the quieter sections).  Since I grew up on Classical, I tend to find music made overly loud just sounds squished and lacks character.  But, different strokes for different folks as they say.  That said, here's what's been done to one album over the years:
