@kitekrazy it's fantastic that you've put this on-line for free. You never know,  you might get some work out of this :) Perhaps you should open a tip jar. I'm sure some good folk would pass on the support.

I remember coming across a similar university project from Korea that sampled a ton of really obscure instruments (well, obscure for me), and I still use them regularly in my mixes as they add a bit of uniqueness to the mix. Completely free libraries sampled to perfection.

I hope your Rhodes ends up being used in thousands of tracks so you can say, "hey, that's my baby!"

BTW: I just downloaded via google drive without problems. Nice!

    Hey Philip,

Out of curiosity, is that project from Korea still around on the web?

It did seem alright to me and I don't normally jump at UAD! 🙂 But really don't like that it's not available to you / everyone consistently.

Some companies really need to get better at rewarding loyalty...

Yeah, consistency would be nice.  I think they're trying to hook and keep new customers... 'cause once you've used UA plugins, you definitely know the quality... and you essentially want to keep investing more and more in their plugs and tend to use other comparable plugins much less.  At least, that's the case for me, heh.

But yeah, enjoy your new plugins!  That B3 is sweet... that's the one I'd be playing around with the most :)  I'll most likely have to wait for BF/CM until I get that one

It does sound like the problem is with your ISP. Your broadband connection may be good, but their may be constraints imposed by your specific account.

Yeah, I think you’re right about that. Besides initial web traffic, everyone else has seem to have downloaded this easily and quickly.

This sounds like a problem on your end. I have set up links for both the Dropbox and Google Drive download now, but if a link wont work, it won't let you download at all. Check if you have enough space left to download the files, that your internet connection doesn't have problems or try another browser.

I definitely have enough disk space. It could be my internet provider, which is AT&T. Never really had issues with them in the past, though.

I recently looked at my download manager, and it’s actually working this time…surprisingly. It has downloaded 5.22 GB of 8 GB so far. So, that’s quite promising!  Besides the web traffic issues due to the initial popularity of the .zip file, Google Drive was acting weird because it wouldn’t let me resume my download progress in my web browser. And it wouldn’t let me download via my download manager at all in my previous attempts.

Now that it’s downloading in my download manager… I’m hopeful now!

Btw, thanks for adding DropBox link as well!

  5. Has anyone successfully downloaded this? I’ve tried about 4 times downloading via direct download in my browser. And I’ve tried multiple times using a download manager. All attempts have been unsuccessful for me. I’m able to get around 4 or 5 GB downloaded… but then the download just ends abruptly and I’m unable to resume. I’ve been trying to dl this since this post was originally posted =/ I’ve got a pretty reliable broadband connection too.

    Anyone else having trouble downloading?

Haven't bought a single Waves product and seen a bunch of people get acid reflux when saying the name out loud. So, from what I gather, they've got decent/good products but lots of anti-consumer stances? The ones I know about have to do with one machine activation limit and that they tried to get rid of the perpetual licences?

Any other reasons to skip, what seems like a pretty decent deal with the discount?

For me, at least... It's a "trust" issue.  I can no longer trust this company.  If they can get rid of perpetual licences, they can always do it again in the future... on a whim.  They never even had any polls/surveys or any kind of getting customer feedback when they made that stupid move.

It's unfortunate because they make some really good plugins.

If I could go back in time and do things all over again, I'd honestly skip Waves plugins and just focus on Melda, UAD/Spark and Plugin Alliance.

However, if Waves ever adopted the same type of upgrade and update policy as Melda, I'd for sure be all over their plugins. It'll never happen, but a guy can dream :)

It is not even an active link so it should be good. More interesting is why can't you add it to your signature?

That’s good to know. Just don’t use active links in the text body 👍

As for the signature… Even if they were able to add a direct link to their signature, smartphone and tablet users still wouldn’t be able to view it. I even tried viewing in Desktop Mode on my iPhone’s browser. No luck, Still can’t view signatures… unless I’m missing something.

Sorry, I actually am not able to put it in the signature 😅 that's why I put it in the text but basically is just the homepage.

I think you should be good then. I’m using my iPhone’s web browser to view this Forum. And I actually can’t see people’s signatures for some reason. Only when I’m using my desktop’s web browser am I able to view people’s signatures. So, I’m thinking @Wookiee would be okay with this. Maybe this rule should be revised to take this into account?

Thumbs down for no links.   See how Larry does it or don't do it at all.

Actually, they are following the Forum rules.

    From Wookiee:

Consequently it is asked that you or your company:-

    1. Do not include a direct links in the text body of your posts to your website or products on your website.

    2. You can include a link to the index page of your website in your signature but not to specific products.

    3. Individual's who find a deal and are not actually selling product may place a link in the body of their post

The real (additional) question with anything Melda is whether you're likely to commit (some day) to buying one or more of the big bundles, and which bundle(s) the current plug counts toward. In this case, MPhaserMB counts toward MComplete (of course), MTotalFX (obvs) and MCreativeFX.

No matter how little you buy/obtain a plug for, 35% of the regular price is credited against the cost of the relevant bundles. (Melda gives you 70% credit for the purchase price, and assumes plugins bought via 3rd party were 50% off, so 35%.)

For MPhaserMB at $43 regular, that's ~$15 credit, minus whatever was paid for to get the freebie. Which only matters if you're eyeing one or more bundles in the long run, but in that case, it can matter quite a bit, eventually.

A nice bonus is that Melda credits are applied regardless of any sale going on. For example, registering MPhaserMB should take ~$15 off the cost of the MCreativeFX bundle, which is $711 regular price. When Melda has a BF half-off sale and the bundle is $356, you still get the $15 discount, not half of that or some sale-prorated amount.

Lump a few cheapies together over the course of a year or two and wait for a sale on bundles, and it adds up dramatically. It's quite possible to go from zero to MComplete for less than a quarter of the bundle price, a little at a time, if Melda scratches your itch and you're patiently strategic.

Thanks for that info. Melda is a company I definitely want to support. Of all the plugin companies out there, they’ve probably got one of, if not, the best policies on upgrades and updates(free forever).  I seriously can’t think of a better company when it comes to those things, actually.

I gave upo on PT long timle ago , keeping my licence for cours ...but might get rid of it even !!

Subscriptions were a deal-breaker for me.  Too much competition in the DAW arena to offer subs.  If they ever go back to just perpetual licences, I'd most likely be a Pro Fool again 😬

    That's a lot of money.

They would need over a million users paying $299 per year, for five years, to get back the initial outlay of capital.

They would need over 2 million users paying $599 per year for two years to make back the initial outlay.

That is a lot of dedicated users!!

Full disclosure: I am no financial expert. :)

Or, just increase the price of subscriptions 🤑
