  1. I've seen something that looked like single not playing, too. Yet, here we are, not able to find a way to do it with this toy "instrument". 😄
  2. I tried it - deafening silence, unless you press one of the pattern keys.
  3. Demoing Silk 2. Hugely disappointed. This is not an instrument, but rather a player for built-in midi loops and patterns like strums and arpeggios. Arpeggios, however, have nothing in common with the guitar technique of the same name. Any DAW or MIDI-keyboard can do the same. Instrument page is a joke - you can't play single notes, just chords that have to be either strummed or picked. Although it is possible to play regular guitar arpeggios on the instrument page, I still wonder how playing arpeggios (picking every note) with one hand while holding a chord with another is better than just playing arpeggios? Also, you can't play any embellishments, like grace notes, slurs, etc. I must mention, that the recorded samples are not great, average at best. 7GB of disk space for something as useless as this piece of software? No, thanks!

  5. Patience, my friend. 😄 Takes a few minutes to fact-check and look for prices/details.
  6. $49 for the instrument. $29 for crossgrade from other UJAM Virtual Guitar instruments. $19 for upgrade from original Silk. https://www.ujam.com/guitarist/silk/ https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/11872-SILK-2-Upgrade-from-SILK-1 https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/11873-SILK-2-Crossgrade-from-any-Virtual-Guitarist https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/11871-SILK-2 UPD PB won't allow purchasing the upgrade if Silk 1 is not in your PB account. 7. Compressor plugins are like ampsims - they all basically do the same thing slightly differently, still you always crave them and need "one more".
  8. That is very unfortunate. I can name a bunch of companies that dropped support and further development of excellent products. I steer away from such companies no matter how good their current offer is.
  9. Isn't it a ballpark accurate description of things that happen to a speaker when it's overloaded? I assume this plugin is based on accurately measured nonlinearities of the actual cab. Pretty much like an IR resembles a mere comb filter, being somewhat more complicated than that. Or analog EQ emulations that normally go a few steps further compared to a simple digital EQ.
  10. AppImage on Ubuntu. Ground control to Major Tom: "This Stargate is broken."
  11. I used to have Laney IRT-Studio. To me this ampsim is a perfect replacement for the actual hardware. I'm not in a rush, though, gonna wait for a discounted price and then get it.
  12. FWIW, the quick and dirty example above was made with 3rd party IRs - Jensen C8R. I used to have two 8" cabinets with these speakers installed. Feeling a bit nostalgic about the gear I had to leave behind. But you certainly can get awesome tones with built-in cabs.
  13. It still is, but I get your point. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/81-Bundles/39-Effects-Bundles/11776-Softube-Mix-Foundations-Bundle-Exclusive-
  14. Stop working on something - that's what any true strike is all about.
  15. If it doesn't have to be this set of consoles and you are open to other options, maybe one of the console emulations from this package is good enough? And it's also cheaper. 😄 https://shop.presonus.com/Retro-Mix-Legends
  16. A few Jensen IRs by Zoom, freely available https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/multi-effects/guitar-effects/g6/g6-support/
  17. I think, it's awesome. Audiority pedals + Laney IRT.ogg
  18. Dang! I miss my Laney IRT-Studio so much, I might get this. Let's see if Aurora has done a better job for Laney than Softube for Marshall.
  19. I'm also done buying profile bundles. Normally, there's only a handful of usable tones, and it's hard to remember which ones to look for when needed. Presets don't help much either for the same reason - there's too many of them. Modelling is so good these days, that it hardly makes any sense to use profiles on desktops. IMO, of course.
  20. Thanks for confirming that. I thought it's just me. 😄 On the other hand it means that the generation gap just got bigger. While Xers and Boomers tend to cling on to more traditional, analog-ish stuff, Millennials and Gen Zers are brave enough to explore new ways to process audio. Things that don't work for me, for you or other similar minded folks might work miracles for others.
  21. I thought we were discussing sleeper plugins that are actually worth paying for, especially if you want to get one (or more) of the freebies.
  22. That's why it's a good idea to demo stuff first. 😊 FWIW, Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal is the secret sauce in John Mayer's signal chain. Last time I checked, there were not many plugin emulations of this pedal or the entire series, recently re-issued by Marshall.
  23. For those of you who are considering PB freebies, I highly recommend pedals from this bundle (also available individually). These are high quality Marshall pedal emulations. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/81-Bundles/39-Effects-Bundles/7810-The-British-Tanks-Collection They also stack exceptionally well, which is not always true for real pedals and nearly non-existent in the digital realm.
