Thanks Nigel. I've tarted the vocal up now and updated the link.

Thanks Jack. Yeah I always struggle with the vocals so I might go back and do some touching up, but I don't think this song will be part of my own repertoire, I just did it because I fancied it.

Cover of a song by a group called Oxym. Used with permission, original version on YouTube.

Your voice has potential IMO. Try a more aggressive approach to singing and apply some EQ and verb. Sounds a bit bassy and seems to sit on top of the mix for me.

Fantastic job, well done indeed 👍

I saw the title and I thought it was my song of the same name 🤭
I do like (what I consider to be) "strange" stuff like this. Reminded me of Talking Heads, particularly the vocal. Very nice job 👍

my comments there were lost
Sorry @DeeringAmps that was probably me being a bit over zealous tidying up 😳

I think this is probably as good as I can make it now. Thanks for all the feedback 👍

Thank you so much @Supa Reels 👍

You have a wonderful singing voice, I don't think that "Solace" needs the delay on it. I think it would would have far more impact without it. Just my 2p worth.

This started out as my lyrics set onto a backing track from the Bandlab website. I decided to make my own backing track to make the verses scan a bit better, and here it is. Comments welcomed as always.

You were a hell of a sight better than the band I was in at school in 73. You must have had a real blast doing this. Great job.

Pretty sure though that @Keith Wilbywas just trying to get some collab going and did not mean to be disrespectful.
Yes indeed, disrespect on here is the furthest thing from my mind, plus this isn't "my own tune" [sic] anyway, and a "free guitar solo" wouldn't benefit me in any way, I just thought it would be a bit of a hoot and bring a smile to peoples' faces.
I thought we were all one big happy band here and, for the record, I did invite you @RikF to collaborate on the Bandlab project. I'm a complete newbie to "forking" but if I set the project privacy wrong or got the etiquette wrong then, in the greater scheme of things, it's not really a big deal is it? And quite how I "put [you] on the spot" is a mystery to me I'm afraid.

I wrote some lyrics and added vocals. Perhaps someone clever could put the two together?

Leremwald - great guitars and vocals and a good mix. The only thing I didn't like was the drums, they're way too busy for me.

I'm listening to Overture now. You clearly know your way around an orchestra. Bravo! 👍

it's a happy tune with a sad message
I think that that is no bad thing; I've done it myself once or twice and if you can get it to work then I think it works well. It's a bit like in a drama, where someone is being threatening or sinister, to have them eat a sandwich at the same time, a bit like putting the ordinary with the absurd.
Well I know what I mean anyway 🤣
Here's one I did earlier (I know it's considered bad form to post a link to another song but this is purely to illustrate the point):

Thanks @FreeEarCandy That's about as good as it gets as far as me and lead guitar are concerned. I have a lot to learn about technique so I'm just winging it for now 🤭

You have such a great voice RexRed, and those harmonies are superb. Suited perfectly to this kind of song 👍

This paints a picture in my mind that I couldn't begin to describe. Can't really add anything over and above what the other guys have said. Keep up the good work. And your chin.

Vocals fixed, lead guitar panned so as to not interfere with the vocal quite so much, plus other minor tweaks. Comments invited; I hope I've caught everything but you never know 🤭

If you're of a certain age and you grew up in the UK then you might identify with some of this.

EDIT: new link. Shorter second guitar solo, some phrases re-sung with improved diction, cello added to first bridge, other minor tweaks.
