  1. So some the same and some different. The only way to be sure what's to blame may be having a computer with ONLY Cakewalk on it so there's no interference from anything else to eliminate. I've requested that but we'll see. If they can't replicate any of the issues then they wouldn't know what to fix or update. I'll mention your findings to them. I suspect more people don't have issues because they haven't explored all the features or they simply don't report them. Even though these are minor they should still work as advertised.
  2. What can I do if I'm the only one having these issues? I have a Nektar LX88+ that behaves sporadically in Sonar X2, X3, Plat, & CbB. It behaves normally with X1 & all other DAWs on my system. Nektar says it behaves normally with their copy of CbB. What could be causing this?: 1. "Patch' buttons don't cycle thru the Synth Rack as they should. 2. 'Patch' buttons act like Play/Stop buttons. 3. "Inst' button only brings up one instrument even when a different one is selected. 4. Control Bar displays computer code characters in the middle screen instead of instrument name.
  3. I followed the download & installation instructions. I should have mentioned that but for me it's a given. According to Nektar support, it works with their testing of CbB and haven't heard from anyone else with issues. I sent them some MIDIOX midi data reports and they say the data looks normal. My X1 works fine with it. For some reason X2, X3, Splat, & CbB don't. There is clearly some data corruption going on there so I need to keep investigating. FWIW, it works as expected in all my other DAWs.
  4. I tested the LX88+ with Sonar X1, X2, Platinum & CbB. It seems to work as expected in X1 but in X2 and newer it has a list of odd behaviors as mentioned above. X1 exhibited none of them. So X2 must have introduced some internal changes causing it to behave differently with this controller. I'm still in contact with their tech support and requested an update for the drivers/integration.
  5. Paper manual comes with new units, also downloadable as PDF. I have all the files and instructions needed for each DAW, tho the Mixcraft files in my account were the wrong ones. I had to find those elswhere. I've actually had to go back and forth with the MIDI setup and reboot the thing several times so there may be something wrong with my unit. Is yours the PLUS model?
  6. Nomenclature is confusing as they aren't "outlines" but "shading". In earlier versions (when Mercury was the only theme), they were fairly easy to see. Darker themes have rendered them all but useless. http://forum.cakewalk.com/Show-clip-outlines-for-the-active-track-only-m3194610.aspx
  7. Actually… this is normal. I've never seen Win10 apps with child windows to match main windows. Here's an interesting thread: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39759588/win32-child-window-style-not-matching-parent
  8. Will try. I'm in contact with a Nektar service rep who's helping sort out these issues. So far they've been pretty quick to respond and agree some of these things shouldn't be happening. Possibly I may have a bad unit.
  9. This is normal. It allows you to have more than one project open and see them all at once.
  10. The manual is good at telling you what it can do but not so much how to do it. Using the 'Track>' key to scroll past 8 should bounce the controller to the next group of 8, and so on. With the 88 I can also use the 'Bank>' key while holding the 'Shift' button to bounce to the next group.
  11. Someone else mentioned this as well. Cakewalk is selecting two or more inputs in the midi track. I have to go in and reselect the input I had previously selected and saved. Sometimes all inputs are checked... as many as 10.
  12. For the most part. But... 1. I had to set MIDI out to 002 to keep things stable. Unless I missed it, nothing in the Sonar info said to do that but the Mixcraft info did. If I didn't have MC probably wouldn't know this. Thought it was supposed to figure out the connections on it's own but sometimes it just wouldn't do anything. 2. The CB Act module displays strange characters as described above. 3. The 'Patch>' button acts as a Play/Stop button while simultaneously expanding/closing the Browser Synth Rack. (???). 4. The manual was written for 61 keys so for LX88 all references to key #s are off by one octave. Also missing some steps which I had to figure out on my own. (edit): 5. 'Inst' key only brings up 1 arbitrary softsynth GUI, not the one on the selected track as it should. @Larry Jones Trying to use all the controls but it's a little confusing especially when controlling multiple DAWs that require different settings. Almost not worth the hassle. Nektar's info is all over the place and requires a bit of investigation and patience to make it all work. Not a lot of helpful videos either. A small matter of inconvenience is not being able to change the controls. I'd like the track buttons to default to SOLO instead of MUTE and the Master/Track fader to control the... master track, not the "current" track. If this can be done, I can't find any info on how to do it.
  13. Hi, older Sonar project but I don't use templates. FWIW, it disappears every time in Sonar & CbB. @msmcleod Good idea. Forgot about that one.
  14. For some reason my LX88+ and Sonar aren't getting along too well. Connection is hit and miss. Sometimes the Control Bar Module displays Chinese characters in the middle screen instead of the track name it's controlling. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. I run it thru a powered USB hub. No way around that.
  15. In other words, bounced softsynth audio doesn't count as an audio track. If one was to use it they'd have to record the audio onto an audio track.
  16. Anyone know if the area behind the control bar modules is editable? Only visible when moving modules around or at the far right end where the Cakewalk logo sits.
  17. Mysteriously working now. No need for this double post, I guess.
  18. Mysteriously working now. Can't say why it didn't work before but it still disappears after opening. I have to double click the clip again to reopen it. Is that normal? I also notice you can't select a frozen or bounced softsynth clip, only real audio clips appear in the dropdown.
  19. Thanks Noel. I have several audio tracks. I opened the same project in Sonar PLAT and it worked, except that it disappears after opening. In CbB it opens and stays open but doesn't work at all. It could be hanging at the opening point for some reason.
  20. Thanks Noel. I have several audio tracks. I opened the same project in Sonar PLAT and it worked, except that it disappears after opening. In CbB it doesn't work at all.
  21. Well, in this thread we like YES! As in, center zone, null zone, neutral zone, no up or down zone, for pitch bending should be -0- (zero), not 64, which makes no sense in pitch bending. Sure it's useable as is, but why was it changed? All previous Sonar versions up to X3 had it the previous way. For some reason Sonar Platinum changed it to default with the rest of the cc's.
  22. Right. But the BOX pages aren't forum, they're created and managed by the user. Is Elffin still around? I haven't been able to find a user list page.
  23. (I'm duping this Q here as I got no response in the Q&A forum.) It seems to work in SPLAT (tho the editor disappears as soon as it opens). I follow the online directions. I watch the videos. But all I get is a dead VS Editor that does nothing. After selecting a track and creating the region FX, the Editor dial opens but instead of the track name at the top, it says <Select Guide> and the dropdown is defunct. The clip turns gray and says "Vocalsync" in the name but it isn't split in half like the pictures show. If I click anywhere away from the editor, it disappears. The online doc says "Right-click the desired guide track and select Set as Default VocalSync Guide Track on the pop-up menu." but there is no such selection in the pop up menu. Is something wrong with CbB's VS here?
