  1. Many projects have a lot of tracks, so to facilitate finding the right track quicker, how about implementing a track find/filter feature? It would change the display of tracks in real time based on searching all track names. CTRL + F or something could be used. ? Usage example: Type "strings" = shows all string tracks Type "slap bass" = did I have a slap bass track somewhere? (now, why would you? )
  2. I will be waiting before jumping on this particular train, for sure... ?
  3. Hm, maybe check the interleave button on your buses as well? (I sometimes check for mono compatibility by switching to mono on the master bus.) Good luck!
  4. That's not to say that it can't or won't be improved upon in the future, of course. And "inferiority" might have been too strong a word for a nuanced discussion, but it's clearly not "simply better".
  5. For a long time, I kind of refused to realize the inferiority of the VST3 standard... but U-he made me change my mind: https://u-he.com/support/faq.html#troubleshooting:vst3-issues
  6. @msmcleod Fantastic news, thanks for all your hard work! While you're adding new keyboard shortcut targets, could you maybe add Archive Track as well? I don't mean to sound ungrateful though!
  7. Hi all! Am I missing something or is it currently not possible to assign a keyboard shortcut for "Rename clip"? It would enhance workflow a lot if it was possible... And is it just me, or is the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog in Preferences veeeery slow and jerky? It would be awesome if it could get some code optimization love. ?❤️
  8. Thanks a lot for your nice response, azslow! I haven't dared to go down the ACT rabbit hole yet, but thanks a lot for the instructions. ??️? About NKS: I kind of assumed the plugin had to be NKS-compatible for it to work, but I will give it a try and get back!
  9. Hi guys! I would like to control VST plugin parameters using external hardware knobs, but how do I do that? The parameters are exposed as VST parameters, not MIDI CC:s (so the plugin does not have MIDI learn). I use MIDI CC:s all the time but this one has me stumped... ? I tried msmcleod's tip of putting a plugin in the Pro Channel, and the Pro Channel knobs have "Learn knob" but I can't get those PC knobs to react using my hardware (Komplete Kontrol S49)... Any ideas? Thanks! Edit: I can map knobs on normal Pro Channel modules by right clicking on them and selecting "Remote Control". There I can easily connect, say MIDI CC 21 from my hardware to that specific knob. But the knobs in an FX Chain don't have the "Remote Control" option in the right click menu... ? Edit 2: The "Learn Knob" on Pro Channel FX Chain knobs is only about connecting it to a plugin, not to external hardware. ?
  10. Hehe, I hear you! I'll give it a try! But the more I think about an indicator that tracks are filtered, the more I like the idea. It reminds me a bit of Excel - if you have filtered a column, the text "Filtered" appears in the bottom status bar to remind you that you are not looking at the full spreadsheet. I think it's a fitting analogy - in Cakewalk you are kind of "filtering" the track view. ?
  11. I produce electronic dance music and don't really do any "external" recording of vocals or instruments, but I think I tend to keep too many options open anyway, saving a lot of unnecessary stuff in my projects... ? Do you guys hide a lot of tracks? I find it a bit "scary", since there's no indicator that there are hidden tracks in the session. I recently hid a bunch of tracks and then forgot about it a day or two later, causing a lot of confusion and searching until I finally realized they were hidden... ?‍♂️
  12. I'm a huge fan of Duplicate and will check tomorrow and get back to you. ?
  13. I sometimes quickly search for duplicated notes by stepping down in the Event List (or whatever it's called) while at the same time looking in the PRV. If I press the down arrow twice in a row without moving forward in the PRV, it's a double.
  14. I appreciate the difficulty of starting with a new DAW... ? Luckily, there are some good tutorials out there that might help, here's just two of them. ? I've cued them to where they talk about recording:
  15. Agreed, using Patch Points requires a few clicks, but just creating two sends from one track to two (or more!) different buses is pretty quick. No?
  16. Good suggestions! Hm, I'm not sure I understand this one? You can already send a track to multiple buses or outputs using multiple Sends...? And I suppose you have explored Patch Points?
  17. This is how my Cakewalk behaves, I belieeeve I haven't remapped the default keybindings: ? When the mouse pointer hovers over the Drum PRV, then ALT + scrollwheel does nothing. When the mouse pointer hovers over the regular PRV area, ALT + scrollwheel zooms in horizontally. Pressing CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT zooms in horizontally, regardless of focus. And oh, you should probably make the thread name a bit more descriptive.
  18. Agreed, really good idea! ? I'm so used to the limitation that I don't even think about it, and most often use track automation just to be more flexible...
  19. Wow, indeed! Amazing stuff, Jonathan & Co, thanks for the hard work! I'm really looking forward to tasting it! ??
  20. I'm hoping you're right. To be honest, in this modern way of releasing small/incremental software updates often I've been bit by more bugs than ever before, and I'm not talking about Cakewalk here. And I also believe the constant releases encourage developing low hanging fruits in general, at least to some extent... so I am thrilled that Bandlab is creating something that takes a long time! ? I've been a bit worried that we've not seen any really big updates since the Bandlab phase started. Don't get me wrong, I love the updates we've been getting and am very grateful indeed, but I've started to become a bit nervous that we'd not be treated with "big new features", like stuff you see in releases such as Cubase 10. That would risk making Cakewalk dated in the long run. So again, I am thrilled that Bandlab is creating something that takes a long time! I'll gladly wait, even though I started this thread... ☺️
  21. No, it's actually available on Windows as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinberg_Nuendo
  22. Hehe, yes I was around then as well, I've been around since Pro Audio 8.5 or so. (In fact, I invested in the lifetime updates almost exactly one year before the demise of Cakewalk Inc.! ?) I agree with all your arguments and sincerely hope you are right. But I myself cannot claim any inside knowledge into the finances of Bandlab or rather more importantly, their priorities. As a "free side product", I do get a feeling that it might "sit looser", relatively speaking, compared to a product that actually makes the company money, but if the company is rich, then we're good. (And I did get the impression that Meng was indeed rather... solvent. ) Sorry, I did not intend to start a full scale debate about Bandlab's business model, so I'll just end it here. I'm off to re-explore the great SysEx features of Cakewalk with my almost forgotten Access Virus B! ?
  23. Exactly, those were some of my thoughts. And it also seemed that there was unusually low participation from staff during a couple of months (although it just goes to show we are in fact very spoiled with that normally)... ? Anyway, I'm at ease now that Bandlab showed some signs of life. ?
  24. English: A few years ago, Cakewalk tried to create a Sonar version for Mac OS, but it was ultimately cancelled. Please see (and translate) the discussion below for more details.
  25. Great tip, thanks! I already use X-Mouse Button Control, but hadn't thought of actually mapping keys to Cakewalk specifically. Brilliant!
