  1. I've been seriously thinking about laptop options for a new DAW. I'm getting on in age and sometimes think I should just ride my current very aged DAW out til the end of times. But, something about doing solo gigs with full productions into smallish dinner clubs appeals to me. GEEZER GIGS -rock !
  2. You might want to drag it out, tune it up- make it look perty. Then check the going prices for a decent rhodes. I sold one to a friend years ago for 200.00 . It's worth well over 10 times that today.
  3. It's the alphabet I tell ya. Can't trust nothing these days,,,,,,,,, daze. SEE !
  4. Thanks to all - Mark ( MSMcloud ) pointed me to this same easy fix from microsoft. I was able to update via bandlab - but will try this on the next update.
  5. I believe snap can be set to " landmarks" which includes the clip boundry? If I'm correct they should simply align from clip edge to clip edge and be sample accurate - just make sure to dis-able crossfades. Maybe I'm missing something here.
  6. Thanks Mark - Will check it out. Seeing as this is a really old update - is there an easy way to see if these protocols are already updated? My machine is really quite old - last time I did an update ( likely at the end of win 7 support -2020 ? , one or another really hosed my system, so I did a restore, quit updating and locked it down except for the Cake and a few Plug updates. It still is a very solid -efficient set-up.
  7. For the last 2 updates 09-21 and 11-21 , I've had a similar experience where my WIN 7 system gets the same internet connection message failure. My Win 10 lap top installs from the in app and web installer correctly. For the install on my Win 7 system ( my functioning DAW ) - I have had to install using the Band Lab app.
  8. As well as stereo pan laws pointed out by John Vere - Cakewalks Channel Tools plug-in is available for binaural panning and a number of other features. It's very useful.
  9. Finally - A true textbook explanation. Yogi was years ahead of his time.
  10. I've got an old Tascam 246 that I reconditioned about 5 years ago. New belts - cleaned switches and pots. I'm gonna get it ready for inflate- O-fest on Reverb.
  11. I'd pretty much accept any descriptor- so long as it's a single syllable - if it takes longer to say than to actually count, kind of defeats the purpose IMO.
  12. Hi Richard - I would second the recommendation to use Melodyne as a region effect and not a track effect. Simply Bounce to Clips to render the Melodyne edits permanent. This will release the Melodyne region and save a lot of processing overhead.
  13. Os system clone back-ups ? Audio archive back-up ? - naw. .......... Bapus' random thoughts of the day archive ? Ubetcha.
  14. That's pretty eye opening. I like the phase tracks better than the stereo-izing plugs in most cases.I'd like to try this with a couple of different sources. Thanks for posting this.
  15. It shows you have melodyne on each track? Are each of these instances showing audio in the melodyne program? Personally - I use Melodyne Studio, but I never use it as a real time effect on a track. I edit and render the audio back to it's track. That's my usual workflow - but I have a very old and under resourced system.
  16. I would recommend JBL LSR305's. Low cost and very good sound for the price, second recommendation would be M-Audio BX5.
  17. Noel - not exactly sure - sorry I don't recall the message specifically. It related to not attaining a connection ( internet connection not detected kind of thing) when there was a connection outside of the application. I simply ran bandlab and updated, the install went smooth. This was a jump from 2021-09 to 2021-12. I also use a win 10 laptop for online work and keep a current copy of Cake for reference to the forum insights and issues - no real projects on it. In app installs work just fine from it. I'm updating to 2021-12 from v 2021-11 as I'm typing.
  18. I'm on an older WIN 7 install. The in app installer did not work for this release - but the Band lab installer worked perfectly - was jumping from 09 release to the 12 release.
  19. You can set " zero controllers on stop " in PROJECT / MIDI preferences. This would eliminate having to re-start the program to zero out the pitch bend issue. Also you can select the track in the Piano roll view and select wheel data and just right click drag to the left to select the data and delete it.
  20. This can happen when you might be using the ctrl key to do multiple note selections - but if the mouse moves sideways just a bit - cakewalk thinks you're doing a copy routine. - Also is it possible that you have done some clip copy and paste - or track copy and paste that dumps itself in the the same time. I've caught myself making these moves before - but I don't ever use snap to grid or quantizing - so often I see the minor time offsets, where snap to grid operations will paste it exactly on the same time stamp. One way to see if this has occurred before trying to delete is to have a quick look at the event list to see if there are multiple entries at the same time stamp. it's not a bug - but it can be very sensitive to selections and mouse movements.
  21. Cakewalk will not convert, offset, scale - or commence any other change to midi data with out a specific instruction to do that. Cakewalk has been doing MIDI for longer than probably any other music software - and they do it very well.
  22. Hello, I would like to suggest a change to the " delete associated files" portion of the Delete Synth dialogue. Please change the delete associated files to include only the audio tracks generated by the synth that's being deleted. To also delete the midi track that is directed to the Synth can cause a real disaster of unintended consequences. Typically that MIDI track output selection is not visible - and just as often the midi track itself is not in focus or possibly not visible. I can have hours , days , weeks of performances and edits in a midi track, and it can just disappear without notice when choosing to delete a synth from the synth rack instead of choosing to replace a synth. seems to me - RAW DATA should never be capable of being deleted without a secondary notice - at least. It's happened on a few occasions and I was lucky enough to " undo " steps to recover the midi data. In those circumstances I had lost additional edits made to the project - but was at least able save the data.
  23. Another SKY screamer... whatever.
  24. Yamaha's lower priced offerings often are very good. I bought one ( RB200 ) or something similar back in the late 90's that still is one of my best recording basses to this day. I have 4 basses that cover some different ground than a standard 4 string. - But I'll reach for it as a first stringer. Depending on your intended use(s) Gig bags are usually just fine if you're just toting it around locally. Simple head stock style tuners a re usually accurate enough for 4 string basses especially. Picks can easily be stolen from any friend who stops by to jam a bit. Same with cables if you have really good friends who are kind of dense. Straps - I recommend a soft style nylon type. Stiff straps kind of help eject themselves off the strap locks sometimes. ( I almost dropped a buddy's 73 LES Paul last week because of a thick stiff leather strap.
  25. Double check that the midi note wasn't shifted. Also there are occasions when the note duration is so short that it is not correctly triggered during rendering operations.
