    Hello all,

I've been an avid user of Cakewalk/old Sonar for a very long time and I have projects going back more than a decade.

With the new Sonar coming out, assuming it is the spiritual successor to Cakewalk by Bandlab, would I still be able to access those old projects? I'd hate to see all my years of hard work go to waste because of a forced change in the app I use.

    Thank you,

    Codefreq

100% the new version will work with all your old projects.

Mostly because making Sonar cross platform would require re-writing the whole thing.

Not necessarily re-writing the whole thing, as the SONAR Mac prototype from ~2016 proved, but there still would have needed to be a significant amount of work involved in order to have true parity between OS versions.

Next is being built from the ground up as a cross platform app.

  3. Okay guys, this thread is not particularly on topic for this section of the forum, so I'm shutting it down. There's plenty of other threads with people's thoughts on pending changes,  elsewhere. Also friendly reminder in general just to make sure that the discourse on this forum stays civil. Thanks!

I thought X1 was the first fully downloadable version. At least, the download version is the only one I have installed ever.

SONAR 8.5 was partially available as a download relying on SONAR for a complete install.

I stand corrected, there were the multi-part X1 downloads. Apparently after a decade things can get a little fuzzy when you've got plenty going on to stay busy. 😎

Anyone know why I don't (and have never) seen all my Versions of Sonar under "Connected Products" in Command Center? I have licenses for X1, X2, etc. but only see Platinum in Command Center. I've already got all the installers downloaded and backed up for safekeeping, but was wondering if I could download some of the unique plugins that came with prior versions (without running the installers) - if that is even possible.

Those versions were never "connected" products. They don't have the same install mechanism as SONAR Platinum. X3 was the first version to offer a full download of any kind. You'd need your install discs for them.

  6. Cakewalk Command Center version 1.1.8 is now available!

This version addresses an issue where existing Command Center versions are unable to connect to the updated version of the Cakewalk website. This new version can be downloaded from here: https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Command-Center

Please Note: Cakewalk Command Center is only required for use with legacy Cakewalk Products and is not required for Cakewalk by BandLab.

    Thanks,

    The Bakers

Any suggestions or feedback on this issue?

I notice the crash dump hasn't been downloaded. Is it incorrect? Do I need to send it somewhere else instead?

Based on the dump file BBC Symphony Orchestra (64 Bit).vst3 is what's crashing.

I've got a song project that has tempo changes in the local Cakewalk session.  But after uploading the project to Bandab to collaborate with others, the bandlab session loosed the tempo changes.  It only sets the project tempo to the first tempo set in the  map.

Is there a way to do this?

This is a limitation on the BandLab App end. The web/mobile app only supports one tempo currently.

  9. I mean, we definitely encouraging reporting issues when you experience anything with stability. But as you said, it can be difficult trying to triangulate things sometimes. The moment we're able to identify where a stability issue is, we'll fix it, but that requires being able to track down the root of the problem. For plugin crashes, there's often not much we can do on our end as if it's not the app itself that's crashing, it's up to the plugin developer to fix issues on that end. That said, we did add improved crash reporting, so even if you do not get a prompt about the crash, check the Minidumps folder in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\MiniDumps to see if a system dump was copied there as the app crashed.

Beyond that, for intermittent issues, that would boil down to trying to eliminating other variables to see if you can isolate a cause that we can investigate. I appreciate this might not be the most exciting thing for many users, however troubleshooting things on the user end can greatly speed up being able to fix any potential issues on our end. Try noting whatever common threads you can find when you get a crash, particularly if the app just silently crashes.

This is happening on all 4 of my PCs with 2022.09 installed.    And yes, the downloaded installed is called Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_28.11.0.013.exe.  With that said, how do I fix this issue?

    Thanks

Try the installer in the Update 1 Early Access post that Noel linked above.

    Same as what I mentioned.  2022.9 (Build 027, 64bit).

So, how do I fix this in order to install 2022.11?  Or is there some issue with this version that is causing this?

    Thanks

If you're installing the new update, you should have an installer called Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_28.11.0.013.exe. If you're on the 2022.09 update, this installer will run to get you to the current version. If not, then it sounds like there's a discrepancy with the version checking on your system.

I received the update notice (Update available 2022.11) when I launched Cakewalk this morning.  However, when I attempt to install it I get a message that says:

This installer requires Cakewalk by Bandlab version 2022.06

My current version is 2022.9 (Build 027, 64bit).

    How do i fix this?

    Thanks!

If you go to your C:\Users\<username>\Downloads\Cakewalk folder, what is the most recent installer version you have in there?

Hello. Do we already have a topic to comment on the production version 2022.11?
I ask why I installed it and I am encountering some problems.

Yesterday I created a new project with the EA version and it was saved with the same version.

Now, when trying to open it again with version 2022.11, it's just been more than 5 minutes trying to open it and it won't open.

    Hi Milton,

First off, the official 2022.11 feedback thread is here:

If you re-run the Early Access installer, does the project still hang on open?

    Hello

I think your statement is opportune to bring up one that I suggested some time ago, which, unfortunately, doesn't work when we're in the EA version.

    For example:

I had downloaded version 006, but when checking the DAW if I'm up to date it confirms that I am.

Only you are now saying that there is already a 008 and that this would be in the initial POST, but it is not.

We only know if we click on the LINK and visualize the sequence in use.

I think it's a good time to implement that, even though it's an EA version, it can identify if there's a newer EA version just like the production version.

That would make it a lot easier for everyone.

Hi Milton, we have two methods for doing an Early Access drop. Right now, we're doing an informal Early Access where we're making the new build available publicly via this forum thread, but it's not pushed to our back end where it would appear in-app via Check for Updates. This simply allows us to expand the number of users on the latest build to the broader audience of this forum without necessarily pinging all CbB users to install it yet.

My previous comment was just to indicate that I updated the build in the original post since we fixed a few things. We're still in the same phase of Early Access as before, so you'd need to grab an updated build if you had already installed the initial EA drop from yesterday.
