  1. When these first came out I was wondering the same thing. I ran CW on a Surface Pro 3 with a i7 cpu in it for years and had no problem doing rough mixing stuff of 20-30 trks. Since latency wasn't an issue, as both Mark and Jim mention, I could get away with it. Mixing I don't mind latency. I don't want to wait 10 seconds for a change to take effect!! But a few seconds is acceptable. Recording, that's a whole another story!!! On my Surface 3 I could do limited, (very limited) recording with any type of plugins. Mostly what I would do was create in EZD or EZK the bounce that down/freeze those trks and get one, maybe two audio trks of guitar ideas. This using a cheap Behringer U-Phoria 2 with Behringer's own modified version of ASIO4ALL. And I would still have latency. But I did a lot of creating on that thing. It was easily transportable, easy setup, And all the same programs I had on my desktop machine at home. So I was familiar with everything.
  2. @ the mods: Thanks for moving thread to the correct forum.
  3. LOL!! Thanks for all the help. This is a great forum!!
  4. This is exactly what I was thinking as I no longer have any midi interface anymore. And my midi arsenal is small compared to some I know. I have only four hardware midi controllers I use. Two are USB (Alesis Q49, Trigger Finger) and two without, (Behringer foot controller FCB 1010, and Yamaha DD75). And there must be others with a need greater than mine that has a audio interface that doubled as a midi interface, that no longer works in Window X.
  5. Thank you!! This is what I couldn't find. Ordered. And thanks for the wifi idea. That looks promising. Not that expensive.
  6. Yep!! I still got 4. Gonna use one. That will leave me three. Yep!!
  7. Yep. I got that figured out. Not a noob! : ) That said, I have gotten rid of all my interfaces that have Midi inputs on them. And all midi hardware I now have has USB interface. SOOOO I thought maybe they came out with a very simple/cheap way to convert midi into a USB signal for all that old hardware that we all have laying around. Really was trying to keep this short... I have a Behringer midi foot controller I want to use with amp sims and synths. It has 5 pin din. I have a Yamaha electronic drum controller I want to use also. It has 5 pin din. Thus my need for a simple midi interface. Thanks for all your responses. I should have made it more clear. (And I should have posted in the CH, not the deals!! Unless somebody can find a real good deal on some kind of midi interface... then we all benefit!! Funny how that works!)
  8. I thought I posted this in the CH. Sorry.
  9. What's the best way to get midi from a hardware unit into a computer these days?
  10. Don't be too concerned We didn't start the fire It was always burning, since the world's been turning
  11. Are nice!! Public Entertainment Never Included Such nice accessories.
  12. Found this place too: https://obsproject.com/forum/
  13. Keni, for me I had to come to realize that the software (in my case Voice Meter) needed input signal from CW out put. It completely bypassed the audio interface. Then in Voice Meter I could route/record the output from CW it was receiving, and then send to the audio interface or any other software. To help me with this I had to go into Windows/Settings/Systems/Sound/Output and choose Voice Meter. Had to do the same with the Windows Input (right below Output setting). Once I did that Voice Meter became an option in CW and in Voice Meter CW was able to be heard finally. Not sure if this is the case with you or not. But give it a shot.
  14. We discuss all kinds of BS topics around here, this can just be considered more.... or just a different topic!! LOL!! JK Keni, do you have and option to select an OBS input in CW Prefernces/Devices/Output Drivers? If yes to the above is there a way to select CW as an input in OBS. Not familiar with that software at all. I know your not a noob, you been around the block many times. But last year I was having a hard time getting Voice Meter Banana/Potato to work with CW. It was all user error in the end.
  15. No, the USB version does not have the routing options the Apollo Thunderbolt has.
  16. Mibby, when using the Console app with Apollo in Windows, when you send the daw signal to the Apollo, it goes to the apollo, not through Console. As Tommy has pointed out, there are virtual channels that allow you to send things different places. What I do when using ARC is place it in a fx bin of a buss in my DAW (CbB) set it's input to get signal from my Main buss, and then send the output of the Arc Buss to Apollo (UAD Monitor S). All trks >>Main Buss>>Arc Buss>>Apollo. HTH
  17. That was a good one!! LMAO!!

    UDA2 PCIe Card $200

It's just a duo, meaning it's only got two cpus on it. But still, it will help anyone who is using a lot of UAD stuff at mixdown. It's being sold by Sam Ash!! So you are assured it will work. I would get it myself, but as you can see in my sig, I got enough UAD processing power. And I don't have another PCIe to slot to put it in. https://reverb.com/item/79734063-universal-audio-uad-2-pcie-dsp-accelator-card-audio-interface-new-york-ny?utm_content=feed_listings&utm_source=braze&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Daily-Feed-Email&utm_term=Feed Email
  19. It's a Miracle this thread has gotten any laughs!! Like we been to Mars and back.
  20. They are thinking of the future!! Or They serve a mean chilli!
  21. Might have to take a look. Seems like it would at least be worth the time to look. Edit: Sign up process was straightforward with no hoops to jump through. Will give the videos a look when I get home
  22. All I wanted to do was record my songs. In the pursuit of that objective, I have learned way more than I ever intended!! So I believe my biggest "limitation" has been, and will always be, the learning curve. And that type of limitation doesn't help me, it just hinders my recorded output!! And all the BS ways that we have to preview sounds on all these synths we have accumulated.
  23. That's not true!! I am running with a Soundblaster 16 getting unlimited audio tracks and many synths along with it. I also have an unbelievable amount of DXi plugins going!! All on a 1.6gb hard drive with 16mb ram!! I got a Celey 350a running at 450!! LOL!!
