  1. With 3rd party IRs, it's not bad. I JUST installed it from a CD I had bought years ago but forgot about it when I moved. Like many amp sims, I suspect the new version will sound better with 3rd party IRs.
  2. The CPU hit for AmpRoom is far and away higher than Neural when you start to add their time-based plugins which kills it for me. I have it for sale on KVR but they've undercut my price now so I guess I'll be stuck with it for a while. It does sound damn good, I'll give it that, and being able to integrate other Softube plugins is a plus but I just don't see the promise of "continuous development" that they and some other developers promise. I got it for less than this sale price so I wouldn't call it a regret purchase...yet...but I can be talked out of this software pretty easily compared to everything else i have. I really WANT to like it, but... One thing that continuously surprises me is the number of amp sims that don't sound nearly as good with stock IRs vs. 3rd party. What alien technology are OwnHammer using that IK's 4,980,469 robotically-calculated IRs aren't???? Every amp sim I own - including Amp Room but excluding Neural DSP - carry this flaw.
  3. No love from Soundcloud when I tried to embed the track. Ambient backing track for a book reading a buddy is doing in Germany next month. https://soundcloud.com/marc-cormier-597726291/meditation-iv I have no idea how to master a track like this. OK, or mix it.
  4. Good grief, that's good news!!!! Whoever (hopefully) speaks with him, please pass on our most sincere wishes!!!!
  5. Where is the search at right now? We know his town, but IIRC that's about all know. I'd love to help the search but I think for privacy purposes any further info hasn't been divulged. I'm with Mibby (and a lot of us, I know) that supporting Terry's family is priority one. If we've exhausted all avenues to find his next of kin, that's cool, but we should at least decide the direction we want to go with the donation.
  6. I was lamenting the ease with which the $49 had already left my pocket.
  7. Well that makes me feel 1,000x better, Zo! Jesse, thanks for the timely video!
  8. DAMMIT. $49 gone. What does a compressor do again?
  9. How does the channel strip compare to the Schoeps Omni Channel? I have that, Izotope MPS3, Softube plugins in Komplete...how special or different is the SSL sound in comparison?
  10. I think it's 'cos you can buy them for 5 bucks a pop at various stages throughout the year.
  11. I've been playing around with it through several beta iterations since then. Glad I nabbed it at that price. It's fun and worth the price. Lord knows if it will ever make it into a final project.

Party at Fleer's house. Just don't ask to be in his foursome.
  13. Dude. Turn on your internet.
  14. Just went to the Overloud THU page again and noticed a white amp head on the splash page (to the right of the images above "What's new in THU 1.3". On the face it says "Rock 1959 RR". I don't see it in any of the genre-specific packages...I hope there's some new amps in the making.
  15. I haven't played with the scenes feature yet but having the ability to turn off either IR/cab really makes the rear and 45degree mics stand out so you can key in to what they add to the sound. I've noticed, too, that the wacky differences between the remastered and original cabs is not as severe; it seemed the higher frequencies were way overamplified in the first remastered versions; they're just not as overpowering as before. The cab section does bring in more confusion or flexibility, depending on your take; blending cabs and IRs is cool but if you want pure IRs, you have to turn cabs off. On the plus side, you've got a full list of the IRs from your source folder that you can scroll through right in the cab section. LOVE that. I miss the cab presets, too, and the full 3D view of the cabs w/mic booms in TH2. The layout and features just seemed more intuitive but I bet this will grow on me.
  16. Did you confirm the newsletter subscription, Larry? It says the license code is generated once you do that. Just got mine.
  17. Couldn't agree more, Zo (about everything you said!😉). I said much the same on the user group forum on Facebook (the ONLY reason I have to go to Facebook). The rigs are OK but they shouldn't walk away from the core offerings - way too much competition out there. I think there's some good stuff coming in a few days. But don't quote me on it.
  18. Having spent the last 7 years as a marching band parent and getting 3 girls to college (yeah, my profile pic is from '08!!) I would see a lot of kids struggling with old instruments, dog-eared sheet music, and plenty of other obstacles to just learning music. I didn't see as many kids moving on to study music at university but there were a few. Private scholarships always went to the BA or engineering students, the ***** lauds, and the usual progression of awards that didn't require a lot of thought in the actual giving. In Terry's case, his handle was "Musical" and he was in the process of raising three little ones himself. I'd love to see our gift support a local kid or kids that share the same love for music that it seems Terry did. I just had this whimsical thought that maybe we donate the $$$ to a local middle or high school musical program in his city, it gets airplay through the local news, and Terry's family see it and recognize who it is in honor of. Not in favor of cancer research charities. I have a feeling that money rarely supports the actual research.
  19. The more I've played with AT5 and compared it to PA Brainworx and THU, I'm not as enthusiastic as I was the week it came out. There are some massive improvements and its won me over in a few areas (Fenders & Leslie) but I'm back to my old habits and REALLY looking forward to this THU release next week.
  20. Having experienced a little taste of something similar with my dad dying last month, I can imagine no one there has their eyes on the Forum (or much else) under the circumstances. If there's any hope of contacting Terry or next of kin, I'd rather keep our assistance on stand-by. They can use the help no matter what has or had not transpired. I still shake my head when I read the original post....😟
  21. I'll get this even if I have to bake cookies and wash cars. In Detroit. In January.
  22. Funny how there’s at least a half dozen new listings for Neural plug-ins on KVR right now, and at least a couple mention they’re selling so they can pick up Gojira. Yeah, I think they nailed this one, especially.
