  1. Thanks for all the replies, information and suggestions. An interesting discussion! I was reading about program called Satellite by mixedinkey for different daw collaborations posted on the forum that google brought up, i think its in the freeware large thread. I expect we will keep it simple and he will just send stems I will set up in cakewalk as before. Since its a basic bare bones project it should be fine. Thanks to all!
  2. We collaborated on 2 or 3 of his songs going back a few years ago and when we were discussing this one he reminded me it was difficult before and i vaguely remember that but not exactly what the issues were. His creativity is good and over time he sends me his songs and i tell him what i hear in his mix to improve. This one the mix is so very bad so I offered to mix it. He was and is better now but still not very daw experienced and has a disability so maybe just the unfamiliar steps on his end were difficult for him. I think he had been using cakewalk for all the others but moved to reaper so this one is created in reaper that i know nothing about. So I just wanted to get ideas for the best easiest way to get his reaper work into my cakewalk. Thanks for the reply! ps. In this case his project file in reaper is likely very simple no bells and whistles to need to recreate on my end
  3. Hi, A friend who works in reaper would like me to do a mix of his song so is there any way that his project file can open in cakewalk? In the past he has sent a wav file for each of his tracks which worked ok in the end but had some challenges, just wondering if there is an easier way? Thanks for any suggestions for ways to do this
  4. My melodyne processed files go to c/user/ treesha/documents/celemony/separation And yes empty it from time to time. Not sure if they go somewhere else too. For me nothing is ever in the project file in the melodyne/ transfers folder. I think way back when clips etc had to be played to get transferred into melodyne they went in the project folder.
  5. This is a post I participated in in 2020, sorry I didn't know how to link the post here at the moment. Heading was On-Line Mastering Thoughts by William W. Saunders, Jr. February 15, 2020 in Cakewalk by BandLab
  6. Ha. As soon as I saw the system I recalled my time in Jamaica yep

    Song For Ruth

Has a bit of holy reverent feeling, sweet spirit to it. How nice to take Benni’s words and make a beautiful tribute from them. Powerful piece and gesture.
  10. Very well done, I had no trouble with the lyrics and am glad you posted them. Love the horns. I appreciate and relate to your lyrics, when so much can go wrong and sometimes does, I really try to nurture gratitude in myself every day things don't go wrong, like grateful today I didn't need a dentist fast or a plumber ha. Easy to listen to and enjoy

    A FOOL`S LOVE

Cool song, thought of John Mellencamp Beach Boys and something else I couldn’t quite identify. An enjoyable listen, good job.

    Far Cry

Hi Bapu Thanks for listening and your feedback. Glad you think its an overall nice tune, and yes I am currently working on the bass and kick trying to beef them up in the mix. As for the vocals, they might be a bit different in the next mix just because everything will change some, but I won't be focusing on changing them. I meant for them to be intense because the lyrics are angst-full. Thanks again !

    Far Cry

Hi Wookiee Thanks for listening and your feedback. I agree about the low end being too weak and I am working on making it better. Glad I am having a chance to learn new things. Thanks for saying its good, appreciate it !

    Far Cry

Hi Tom I really appreciate you listening and your comments. Thank you for commenting on the emotional lyrics. Yes the song is very vocal heavy and low end light ha. I was checking out how I might add more low end in with Izotope yesterday a little bit, but when I see your comment about the hi hat, well maybe that needs attention too within a full remix. I try my best with drum parts, they do not come natural to me, and honestly I did not even notice the hi hat aspect, usually I get drums to a point and then think its ok enough. So I really appreciate you pointing this out and the impact it could have on the acoustic guitar. And I'm glad you enjoyed it ! Thanks again

    Far Cry

Hi hsmusic I see you have a #1 so welcome and if I got your first post thanks ! Glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoy when people comment on what one of my songs sounds like or reminds them of as you have. And often the comments are diverse, which is cool. I did my share of early fm underground station listening myself and I think it is all inside me bouncing around and shows up in songs. Thanks for listening and commenting

    Mother Father

Alarming intro, unsettling sounds, I admire your boldness and courage with some of the subject matter you get into. Very expressionistic, good job putting it together.

    Letting me Down

Nice choice of sounds, good atmosphere for the mood and words, the mix is good over here, a winner.

    Galaxy HD 1

Lovely spacey swirly sounds with some darkness, eeriness and uneasiness tastefully mixed in. It has a sense of traveling to it. The clips you chose are clever and well processed for the mood. Well done.

    Far Cry

Hi Nigel, Thanks for listening and for leaving a comment for me. Oh yes, the low end is not strong enough, I may revisit the mix in the future. I was working on this a long time and need to do something different. I was struggling to get the kick and bass to be good together so not surprised its lacking. Glad the rest is ok ! Nice to know you think its cool!

    Far Cry

Hi David, Thanks for listening and for the feedback. Yes I agree the low end is too light, and maybe will revisit this but tired of working on it at the moment. My last posted song with vocals, I got feedback from @whoisp who suggested I leave some space in between my nonstop words, so this time I took his advice and intentionally had some non-vocal sections. Probably there is a sweet spot. Glad you dig it!
  22. Somewhere there is a film this should go with ! quite soundtrack-y. Very nice piece with evocative moments, textures and moods.
  23. Good song, I like the instrumentation and the mix. Having just made a song with discontented lyrics as I sometimes do, I get it, and you captured the mood well.
  24. With that title I had to listen ha. Very sweet. Thanks for posting the lyrics even though they are very easy to hear. The vocal in the middle bit might be a little more pronounced, they seem further back there. The song is very clean and the mix is great. Enjoyed it !
