    Asio

They didn’t explain that correctly. What the op was doing was running 2 applications that both used ASIO That’s not an issue. I sometimes have 4 audio apps open using ASIO. As long as they are all using the same sample rate they will run
  2. It’s part of your workspace set up. it’s just been minimized use the double arrow to open it again.
  3. Yes they call those stems. As long as he starts all tracks at zero.
  4. Here’s the link https://stealthswitch3.com/
  5. In my signature is a link to my tutorials. I have a few that clearly explain how to get started with midi
  6. Exactly what I said in my first post. # 1 cause of issues ( sometimes) Especially laptops. I always found disabling the Wi FI resolved my audio playback issues back in W XP days. Lately I've become none complacent and often leave my wi fi running. But the other night it attacked my system once again. Probably some app trying to update in the background.
  7. I use the Stealth USB box with 4 Standard Foot Switch’s. You can program it to any keystrokes You can definitely control Cakewalk with it. And once programmed it can be connected to any computer with out needing specific software. The foot switch could be put anywhere. A door bell button would work
  8. You should not use input echo to record audio tracks unless your using guitar sims. Use your audio interfaces direct monitoring system. I've heard where you can actually have issues if you use a super high buffer setting. Most folks use around 256. But I think a Lynx is one of the better performers.
  9. Open Console view. Drag your audio interfaces strips from the right hand side. Now mute the master bus. Observe the Audio interface meters. if they are still showing a signal then a track is outputting directly to them. Check the output settings of any sub busses. They should all be going to your master buss including any effects busses. Check there are no axillary sends routed directly to the interface. There's no need to rebuild this, projects do get corrupted but the signal path cannot be corrupted. One other item is it looks like you’re using on board audio. Make sure you use WASAPI mode and not ASIO

    Bus in / out gain

It kinda sucks that someone decided it would be better to set the Track Control to exclude some important features by default. This has got to be the 10 th post with the same simple solution in the the last short while. it was said that they did this to help newcomers??

    Lost Stereo Output

The Focusrite use a software mixer that’s a bit complicated not sure if yours uses the old Mix Control or the new version. But the default if you re set it to that is for 1/2 to be your Master outputs. Make sure you plug your studio monitors in to that. Your Cakewalk audio tracks and instrument tracks should all be set to go to your master bus In my signature is links to my tutorials. Watch my latest video about basic set up

  13. Turn of your internet. I had to do this last night. Normally it never causes problems but out of the blue I was getting a drop out on a project that I just started. I upped my buffers a bit and it still happened. It happened about 5 times and I then disabled the internet and it never came back.
  14. Ya I got it for $30. Version 14. I just upgraded to 17 for another $35 The cool thing about that is I can install on 4 machines now. Nothing wrong with 14. I barely noticed the difference
  15. Did you try a search of your hard drive? Type the missing file name into search. A save as should stop Cakewalk from looking for those files as it will create a new project and audio folder if you "save as" outside the old project folder. Make sure to check "copy audio" option first.
  16. Did you delete the tracks in Cakewalk? If you deleted them in the audio folder in Windows explorer then you've made a mess of it. If they are still in the recycle bin restore them and then delete them from within Cakewalk. Otherwise you can try doing a "save as" of the project.
  17. First thing obviously is to look at the instruments track strip meter. Is it red lining? Open the event list and see if there are any CC 7 or CC11 events. You can also look in PVR in the controller pane.
  18. I myself don't understand why you would need such an item? I've been using Midi for a million years and it has never changed much since day one in the 80's. It's data. That data flows to an instrument where it becomes audio and from there on is treated like any audio. This could be a VST instrument or a Hardware instrument (or a Lighting rig or a smoke pot. ) You can manipulate that data on it's way to the instrument in a zillion weird ways with controllers and other data that is added to the data stream. The common ways are CC events ( CC7 ) and system exclusive data packages. A midi signal flow chart will be a straight line with little boxes added in the path where you alter the original data.
  19. Not sure I understand your question? Yes the course in the OP is one you purchase. It's only $15.

    Asio

And just so you know, The common way to use Band in a Box is create the song in the stand alone app and then export the midi file. Open that in Cakewalk and take advantage of the much better sounding instruments. Also much more powerful effects and editing. If you leave all the midi outputs unchecked in Preferences/Midi/ Devices Cakewalk will OPEN the midi file with TTS-1. You can then replace with better quality like the SI instruments and 100's of free VST plug in available.

Did you check your master bus output? This video walks you through basic set up for using an audio interface. The master buss is explained at around 9 min.

    Asio

If your using on board audio you have to use WASAPI. To use ASIO you need an audio interface. You will hear latency until then. On board audio is limited in use for daws in-my signature is links to my tutorials watch the videos on onboard audio and ASIO
  23. Best practices from the day Gibson dropped the bomb was to run Update everything in CCC and copy the download folder mentioned by Steve to a dozen back up drives. There’s possibly $1,000 + worth of stuff in there. Also we made a document with all the serials and activation codes. Including your Single Sign on information. Now when I rebuild I install CCC and copy the download folder back up into the new folder. When I run the installers it doesn’t need to download the files.
  24. When using the Arranger you would simply mark that as unwanted and don’t put it on the list. But using Ripple Edit is pretty easy way too get rid of unwanted measures
  25. I would not have reverb in a vocal track bin. It is always a effect send to a reverb buss. The other 2 processors would be EQ and a compressor in the Pro Channel. So this leaves my Effects bin Empty. This is where I put it the few times I tried it. It’s a heavy CPU load for my system and causes dropouts so I'm not really using it.
