  1. For me there was never a follow up all I got was the acknowledgement that my application was submitted. Which proved they had my email address working. but that's all water under the bridge and not sure why people are still talking about it? In a way I'm not sure I would have contributed much as I rarely bump into what are known as bugs.
  2. Well I made this video. I once again logged on to Discord and there is no way to get at the Next server or what ever it's called. I got an invite from @orcmid and yesterday that got me signed in on my phone under Cactus. I never chose that name but I think it came from a log in from my Laptop which I'm logged into Bandlab with. But I did all my posting under John Vere. So I log in with that and I found a PM from them again. Note the name is Cakewalk Next. But when I click on the link I got this. So I tried a direct search and I get this SO you can see why it's pretty frustrating to attempt to help these people out. It will be a huge hassle to post the video from my phone. So I'm posting it here as a private video. the link will expire in 2 days. https://youtu.be/jiPKEcR1EKk This is all the time I have for this.
  3. Thanks, I’m not crazy. It is a huge flaw that I guess hasn’t been noticed because I guess the majority of Next testing is all Creating and not playing guitar. But I definitely posted it on Discord back in December I think. I’ll screen capture it later today. I think they made a huge mistake indiscriminately making the Beta testing 100% public. I would have been more than happy to test it more if they used a smaller group and we communicated in in a private forum. I just couldn’t follow using Discord. It’s like trying to help people on Facebook. The signal to noise ratio is unbearable. So I abandoned it a few months ago and have only been using the Stem separation tool.
  4. Yes thanks I thought I PMd you back but it was late at night and I was out of town all day yesterday. Anyhow I got in to Discord but weirdly it is under Cactus and not John. But once I sort this out I’ll post it in the Bug bin
  5. You missed my point. Rental can give you a steady cash flow that can result in a higher profit. It is more importantly solid information for share holders. Predicting cash sales isn’t. Do you actually think business make money by selling stuff?? No they make money trading shares. I’ve said it before, give this company credit for being on top of modern business models and marketing schemes. This is good news for us as it’s the exact opposite of how Gibson ran things. We hopefully won’t be going bankrupt any time soon. I get a huge kick out of the people who think they are making a big mistake. Have you bought your shares in Bandlab yet?
  6. There’s possibly 6 threads on the topic and I made a video that explains how to activate it. Holy cow I just noticed this video now has 1.7 K views! Most of my videos are doing good if they have 500 views after a year. Guess Sonar is a hot topic.
  7. Guy walking trough a Saturday afternoon Farmers Market sees an artist painting a picture and stops to ask him about it. “I like your painting is it for sale? “ “No I’m not finished yet. “ “Ok but when it’s finished how much will it cost?” “ I don’t know until it’s finished . And I’m thinking I might rent this one in the Gallery art rental program. I can sometimes make a nice steady income from that.” “But I don’t want to rent it, I prefer to buy it from you, but only if I like the price.” “Ahh, see you already are offering me less money than it’s worth and haven’t even told you what I think that is?” This is why I think I’m better off renting it. That way more people will enjoy my painting and I’ll have a monthly income for a long time. If I sell it to you when it’s finished, you will want a bargain and I’ll be sad and probably spend that money all at once in the bar. I’ll have no money later on.” The man walked away and bought a ugly framed print from WalMart. He didn’t like the ugly cheap painting very much but he was proud because he owed it outright.
  8. I wasn’t arguing I was just trying to explain international trade. @Milton Sica does bring up a sad truth about what will happen to many people that started relying on the free version. I can tell by the names of my subscribers just how global Cakewalk has become. As we all know a huge population of this planet live in absolute poverty. But big business is big business and so these people in a way will be victims of a marketing strategy that has now become very apparent. They will be cut off with only choice being something like Audacity. This has given me an idea! Hmm. As a note I logged into the Next Discord chat room and all of a sudden some of those people are wondering why they are being asked to activate. Seems the beta testing of Next has also ended. Anyhow if you were only interested in Next and not Sonar then $15 a month is a little steep. I rate Next as being worth around $50 -$100 based on its simplicity. Not based on quality, just features.
  9. @Milton Sica Not sure what you are saying as we are a global community as well as most people these days purchase items directly from many countries. I live on the border and Washington USA is 10 minutes from my house. So we often even go grocery shopping there. But over the years we keep a close eye on the exchange rate. We have always looked at prices and had to calculate that into the cost. Right now is pretty bad as Canadian dollar is down to $.73 so if I see an item for $1. it is as actually costing me approximately $1.27. It is entirely up to your chosen payment method what you will be charged as an exchange rate. And many credit cards also add on a fee for foreign transactions. We found a card that doesn’t. This saves us 1.4 %. So pricing is based on US dollars for Bandlab and it is not up to them to offer different prices for different currencies. That’s not how things work. I just bought a plug in from Germany so it was listed in Euros. That’s even more @ a $1.48 Can right now. Im not sure why people are going on and on about the pricing? Is that the only reason people liked Cakewalk was because it was free? That’s not why I use it. I used it because it’s still the one I like the most. So to me it’s simple. If you like it you buy it, if you don’t like it then please stop thinking about what it will cost. Move on.
  10. Yes there is a new version that is the only one that works. If you need you password reset you contact cakewalk support. They have been very good about this. I made a suggestion to ask if all our legacy products could somehow be moved to the new Cakewalk Product Center.
  11. Yes it is definitely not what is played during the punch. Back in November when I first noticed it I inserted a second empty track and put it in record and you could clearly see the timing issue Tomorrow I will screen capture it. I figure if it really is a bug there had to be a lot of people noticing it.
  12. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong as it really should not be this hard to do? It’s like it’s a audio buffer latency issue.
  13. Thanks. But where? And still. Why doesn’t Next server show in the search? I haven’t logged in for about a month. It sent me a log in security access code? That was new.
  14. @David Baay Thanks David. This was not midi punch in its audio. I opened the user guide to make sure I was following instructions. I followed it to the letter. I activated punch in and it clearly shows the highlighted part just like Cakewalk. I pre roll 2 measures back and hit record and it punches in correctly but it places the audio I was playing earlier in the place the new material should be Trust me I tried probably 20 times I tried different projects I tried an empty project I even used a different audio interface and a different computer. I tried in November I tried in December, January and just today again. the results are always the same. The wrong material gets placed in the wrong spot. There’s no effect or VST instruments. If I can’t get this to work then who else’s could!! I have used punch in record in possibly 5 different DAWS. If I’m doing something wrong it still needs to be fixed so it’s more idiot proof.
  15. The easiest fix is to simply Normalize the audio to something you want.
  16. They will loose a few but my guess is they have already added a million new users! So saying you are switching to another DAW just because you don't like what is happening is sort of pointless to me. Just sit back, take a long draw on the reefer and relax! It's all just for entertainment! I'm still making some great music and it's been free for so so long I could care less about the stinking $15 a month fee. And I might just try using Bandlab as my Distribution server. Distro KId ( guess the You Tuber who recommends we sign up for that is??) just gave me a deposit for $5.35 after 4 months. And they took 30% ( american) taxes off that! I'm pulling my songs. I'm totally being ripped off and they run away with my annual fee. So I;ll see what happens with Bandlab. There are probably all Sharks. Fins Up everyone! @Terry Kelley 100% agree with 👍
  17. That information is wrong,, You most certainly can have both a Midi and Audio device connected . A million people do this. Did you not see my post? There is probably nothing wrong with the OP midi /USB connection as Yamaha has very good midi drivers which hopefully the OP is using and not the generic windows driver. The OP is trying to use Asio4all which we all know is doomed to failure . Alesis is one of those very few companies that does not make recommended audio interfaces. Come to think of it? What do they make any more that anyone would recommend ( sorry that belongs on Gear Space) End of story. Here's the solution_ https://youtu.be/YcDGKuBJ2VI
  18. I have now clue where to post this so will try this in hopes that a developer will respond. I had made a few videos about using Next back in November and was politely asked to remove them as per the agreement that I actually never saw as part of accessing the beta version. So I did. I am trying to re post these videos in support of it's release as early access. Watching the videos I realized I got to a point in demonstrating audio editing where you cannot use the punch in recording. It is like way out of sync. I reported this back in November on Discord as I was told to do. I now return to the point where I left off 4 months ago and I find punch in recording is still broken?? The built in report dialogue does not allow attaching videos or pictures ??? OK, fine, I tried to log on to discord and there seems to be absolutely no trace of a Server for any keywords that use the terms Cakewalk or Next, etc. It's like it doesn't exist anymore. I need to hear officially from someone why this feature is not working or will be forced to put out the video demonstrating how it is still broken after 4 months. I don't want to do that as I think a lot of good work went into this software and I prefer to be 100% supportive. Please advise.
  19. I think I found the problem, You see if you had posted this information in the very first post we would have solved this a few weeks ago. As I said in my Video. Do Not Use ASIO4all! Try WASAPI driver mode. If that mixer doesn't support ASIO or WASAPI Toss it out the window. Its won't work with Cakewalk.
  20. This is why I posted the Videos as they explain how to properly set up your audio devices. I'll repost this one which is the most important.
  21. Ok I apologize but at least return to a thread and just like the comments so we know you read them. Or better yet mark it as solved. Sorry I sound harsh but it is all we really ask is that if someone asks a question they somehow show a response. So with that out of the way yes we need more information as @Helios.Ghas said. My first move will be to check your master bus is set to output to what ever you speakers are connected to.
  22. But you gained a reputation of abandoning your threads and not responding to help. And yes your issue may seem different but it is all related to first learning the basics of which there’s dozens of tutorials and the documentation. You are simply just struggling with basic set up and using midi hardware as well as basic set up of audio. We are more than happy to help but we ask that you don’t abandon threads if you are looking for assistance. That wastes our time. People are expected to try and help them selves by watching tutorials first and then ask for help if you’re stuck on something.
  23. This is the 3rd thread I think you have started all with the same question and which a few people gave you your good answers to. Are you loosing track of your original posts?? Did you watch the videos?
  24. You can test midi latency like this put a mike 1” from the keyboard controller key. Or drum pad. Use a Basic project template which gives you an Audio and a Midi track. Record both the mike and the midi and hit the key hard so as to make a good transient in the audio track. Now zoom in and see how long it took for the midi to get there compared to the audio. And don’t forget to use the new driver mode UMP for Bluetooth connection.
  25. I started a new Playlist for Sonar. I will now use this for all future tutorials. This is the playlist link.
