The deal expires on August 8th at 23:59:59 (Italian time) SpringVerb is an algorithmic reverb plugin that recreates the physical interactions of a spring reverb. This kind of reverb is very peculiar since it’s obtained through electro-mechanic stimulation of springs at different tension, this movement is then converted back into electrical signal by some pickup. https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-springverb/12 points

Price dropped on Hammond B-3X to $49.99 from $129.99 https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/hammondb3x/?pkey=hammondb3x and for those who have installed and authorized AT5 CS, they can get $100 off TONEX SE. TONEX SE isn't sold directly any more so there's kind of a "secret link". If you authorize AT5 CS then follow this link https://www.ikmultimedia.com/shop/add.php?R=addbysku&P=TX-100SE-DID-IN you'll have TONEX SE in your cart, then add the coupon TXSEAT5A (if it is not there, click "Apply" and it should take $100 off) making it $49.99.6 points

It a very versatile instrument. Yes it can do the 70 quiz sound but so much more. A staple of jazz, soul and prog rock. Jon Lord of Deep Purple used it very effectivly for heavy rock. You do hear it on current records occasionally but I see no reason it can't be used in almost any genre. I think the appeal is in the organic ( no pun intended) sound of the electro mechanical tone wheels, something that has not been perfectly emulated until recently along with the mechanical rotary Leslie speaker. IK have got the closest yet.5 points

I've been using Reaper for almost six years, and I've never been more productive. I have not experienced one crash. Reaper chugs along with projects that would bring other DAWs to its knees. In all this time I've only spent $60. When version 7 arrives I will gladly fork over another $60.4 points

Agreed. Working on a song. I was using Kontakt's Vinatge Organs, Born To Be Wild preset. Sounded good, just a little too much distortion. I was liking what I was getting with Kontakt but thought let me try the IK B3. The control and tone is much better in the IK version, hands down!! [eidt] Forgot to add. I got my B3 in a group buy or a Total Studio sale. Can't remember. But I didn't pay full price. However, it is worth the asking price.4 points

No problem, I won't claim to be solely responsible but my opinion and data gathered figures into this and other changes regularly (sorry didn't mean that to sound smug or whatever, just assuring folks I put my 0.02 worth into these discussions as strongly as I can as much as I can). Also, there is indeed more related news coming on this front. I believe it is just being tested currently before any news can be shared.3 points

If anyone is even remotely interested in a B3, this is the one to get. Hands down, one of IK’s finest.3 points

And this is exactly the B3's appeal. For many years when I was younger I thought the Deep Purple sound was the distorted guitar sound. Then I realized all that time it was the B3 that Jon Lord was playing having that sound, not the guitar. Monomix doing the same with a new genre of music. If you limit the B3 because it has a 70's sound to it, then you really limit yourself.3 points

So i guess it went native , zero notification or new about that ? By the way this one a beast ,very few remember that in it you basically have an elop compressor ...and this is exactly why i use it on my busses !!3 points

I got Retromania at the intro price. I think it was $15. It's not bad, if you don't mind that it's a Rompler. All the presets are usable, very genre-typical sounds for Retrowave/Synthwave. There's also a free Lite version with less presets: https://www.audiolatry.com/retromania-lite/ YouTube demo of the full version: https://youtu.be/Bfuhl1DFRs4?si=YdvplMXOlo26SP7I3 points

Recording Mode is in the Project preference settings. Project preferences are inherited from a template during project creation. Change the project template and all future projects created using the template will reflect the changes. Of course, existing projects require changing one-at-a-time because Project preferences are stored in project and project template files. To prevent a DAW update from wiping out user created/modifed project templates either: use a custom template location - set in Preference > File > Folder Locations, Cakewalk updates the default template location only or, use unique template names - not my choice but it should be pretty easy to create names Cakewalk won't use.2 points

This is exactly the reason I stopped using Reaper and went back to Studio One after Sonar Platinum went splat. I was wasting WAY too much time playing with the UI, trying to get it where the look of it didn't bother me. If the themes were professionally created and curated against the default Reaper theme, I would be happy to pay for one that worked for me, knowing that it was complete and supported and that if there was an issue with it, it would be corrected. If you read the comments on the popular themes, one common thread is that something/some feature is missing vis-a-vis the default theme. If you don't need that missing feature, no problem. If you do, you're almost always SOL. What do I dislike most about Reaper (and I do like and respect it) is: 1) the menus, and 2) the window that plugin UIs open in. That said, Reaper is awfully good at a lot of tasks, and no other DAW has Kenny Gioia.2 points

I see Reaper as more of an engineer's tool than a music production tool. I tend to use Reaper for simpler projects (audio editing, learning songs, recording a VO for the wife, etc). I gave up trying different Theme's years ago. That rabbit-hole can burn hours of time... and doesn't seem to change much (anything?) function wise. Reaper is incredibly CPU efficient... and is particularly good for audio editing. The Item Editor is similar to Samplitude's Object Editor (lots of realtime control). I'd actually like to see the "road plan" or stated development goals for v7.2 points

Yeah. For that matter why would anyone use a flute, or a french horn, or strings, or tympani, or even square and sawtooth waves or pianos or acoustic guitars in modern music. They are all throwbacks to music made by ancient people. ? In fact, so many sounds from the past 10-15 year have become hackneyed. ?2 points

I just found out that you can optionally drag-and-drop a track icon from File Explorer onto a track to replace the existing icon. Any part of the track will work as destination, so you won't have to drop it on the existing track icon. This action will (almost always) also update the icon in the Track Inspector and the Console View as well, but sometimes you'll have to switch selected track to trigger a repaint of those icons. Fun fact: This drag-and-drop feature is currently not documented in the Online Help, nor in the Reference Guide. Edit: I've later noticed that File Explorer isn't needed. In your Media Browser, it's possible to navigate to your Track Icons folder and drag-and-drop icons directly from there. I've personally saved my Track Icons folder as a Content Location Preset, so it's always easily accessible. The one drawback with using the Browser, instead of File Explorer, is that you can't see the source icon as an icon, only its file name.2 points

Could be the default setting of mute/solo does not mute sends. Configuration LinkPFSendMute=0 as default. " If this is set TRUE, pre fader sends on both tracks and buses are automatically muted when the track/bus is muted. Also if another track is soloed the pre fader sends on other tracks will be muted. This basically conforms to pre SONAR 4 behavior. " Set that to "1" probably fix this.2 points

@DeeringAmps Thanks. There has been such a rash of snowflakes around here lately that it is refreshing to see someone who will spar without wetting his panties. I think you and I are from different eras and are therefore after different things. Glorious as it is, the dimed Plexi pushing low powered speakers is not the sound I'm after. The 2204, as I'm sure you know, is a much higher gain amp. To me, it sounds way better backed off a little. Past around 7 - 7 1/2 on the preamp volume and notes start to loose definition and clarity. Somewhere just before 8 is where the power amp starts to saturare and compress and much past that it starts to get spongy and loose in the low end. Speaker distortion is not much my thing either. Crazy how this brouhaha started because I made an offhand comment about not liking to scroll through presets in response to someone claiming something to the effect that captures are so much better than sims. I don't know why it still does, because I suppose I should be used to it by now, but it absolutely befuddles me that some people take it as a personal attack whenever someone disagrees with or questions their own approach and go all monkey brain and act butthurt.2 points

^indeed, @jesse g, indeed. The suspense and anticipation of the deferred installation had us all on the edges of our seats. ? ? ? ? Would @Bapu install it as he had done 7,238 times before? ? or would he fumble at the last moment distracted by another deal? ? Many of us wonder if @cclarry was even trying, in previous years he would have tried blocking Bapu with 3 or 4 other deals, alas... It was a real popcorn moment, glad I was here to witness it.2 points

It is a program that profiles amps and allows you to copy the sounds. It is like ToneX or the Kemper. Unlike an amp model you can't really adjust the settings, however you do get a near perfect copy of the sound at whatever knob position you set you amp at. Now there are quite a few profiles(*.nam files) available for free and you can also make your own if you want. You can check them out here. https://tonehunt.org/popular2 points

A few years ago I bought Pulsar's Echorec thinking I'd use it on every project. Well, given how much success I've had with H-Delay, Timeless 3, Replika XT, and Objeq Delay, Echorec seldom gets used as a delay plugin. But thanks to your post I've tried it on a few tracks as a saturation 'color box', and it's working quite well. So thanks for reviving this poor forgotten plugin!2 points

I guess what bothers me the most is that ARA2 and Melodyne are COMPLETELY silent as to what is really going on under the hood. Google is silent about Melodyne if you search Google for Melodyne answers you will encounter my own Cakewalk forum thread inquiries which have gone mostly unanswered. And let's not forget that Celemony refuses to have a Melodyne public forum, you have to email them to ask questions and make requests. Thus, the answers are not public. This vexes me because I have a LOT of questions and requests. And getting an email back telling me I don't need 32bit recording or 96khz recording also concerns me. How low is Melodyne resampling my waves to? I am actually afraid to ask. It is like Bill Gates saying, no one will ever need more than 56k of RAM. Melodyne works with my 32 bit files but I am told by Ulf it does not work with 32 bit files. I am told that ARA2 and Melodyne are not resampling my files, so how is Melodyne working with my 32bit files if it is not resampling them down to a bitrate that it can recognize? And, what is that bitrate? Why am I even recording in 24 bit if Melodyne is down sampling my voice to even 16bit? I can hear a difference when Melodyne is placed on my tracks even if nothing is edited. There is an information vacuum online and Melodyne is the only real game in town. I adore Melodyne, while I am also concerned about how it is being developed. It does tons of stuff I don't need at all and the stuff I need seems unimportant to them, like colored blobs... I have been waiting for years for different colored track blobs. As for "quality", when I analyze a line that is sung consecutively, it flows into other lines. When I punch in "like the old performers used to do". the line can sound disconnected from the previous and following lines. This is why fixing a simple bit of pitch deviation is better than re-singing the line . It is a "quality" issue where preserving the quality of the line is greater than re-singing it for a perfect pitch aspect and in turn losing the quality or, "one take" aspect. But in order to fix that tiny bit of pitch deviation I need to place something on my file that is degrading the sample rate and "quality" of it. As I indicated, "quality" is one of the pillars of good music. Pitch, loudness, duration and quality... (You will find those four in any fundamentals of music text book. Yes, I read and studied them.) I like to know how things work. Just like I have my prepositions memorized, so I know how grammar works. I used to have all of my Euclidian assumptions, postulates, axioms, corollaries and theorems memorized for the same reason. And this is why I can excel at 3D vector art. I don't like things that come in and "resample" my work without me knowing it. Because someone says I don't need higher depth or frequency files. Or, I don't need colored blobs. Well it is hard to tell which blobs are from which tracks when they are all piled on top of each other. Melodyne does pitch, loudness, duration and even formant but it is the "quality" aspect that seems unimportant to its developers. That quality issue is very evident to my ears. I feel like I am at a standstill with Melodyne. I am recognizing quality issues with the way it is working and I am told to "work around" those issues rather than Celemony addressing them and fixing them. I mentioned variable bitrates. If Melodyne threw more bits at the transients when it resampled the waves this problem could be solved. If a dialogue box popped up and asked us how we wanted our waves converted (like every other program in the industry does). Melodyne could take these wave files and apply variable bitrates to the conversion process so the transients and sibilants would get more bits. This is how video is done, when you have an explosion or detailed action sequence, you either raise the bitrates to an ungodly amount or you apply variable 2 pass bitrates. The computer searches through a scene and detects a part is complex and will throw more bits at that section. While I am thinking that due to latency that Melodyne and maybe even Cakewalk are actually throwing less bits at the beginnings of sounds. I am constantly pointing fingers at what the cause of these quality issues are from. Thus the 32 bit interface, but the quality issues still persist in Melodyne. The proof is in the pudding and the transients, and sibilants and pitch bends are lacking terribly and completely un-editable in Melodyne. Some blobs you cannot touch in any way or they implode in quality. And the answer to this problem should not be, "work around it". If there is something I am missing here please enlighten me. I don't mind being wrong, that is how I learn. Let's get this out in the open please.1 point
