  5. I'm very fond of Hybrid 3. For arpeggiator-driven 90's ambient kinds of stuff, it's my most inspiring synth, and I have MASSIVE and Chromaphone 3. Hybrid 3 has the best arp sounds. It has 2 arpeggiators that can be used simultaneously. Well worth $10, IMO. Xpand! 2 is also my favorite general purpose ROMpler. Vacuum Pro is another favorite. The only drawbacks I've ever experienced with AIR's synths is the lack of a way to mark "favorite" in the patch browser, but I can use the DAW's native preset system to get around that. As far as technical issues, I've never experienced any problems with AIR synths, not a single one. They are light on resource use compared to other synths out there.

  7. I have never found any tutorials specific for CALS and Studioware Panels All the ones I have written have been trial and error. For CAL scripts, there is a PDF document detailing each command. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=10371 Be careful with some commands. Some will categorically crash CbB. I know editSlide does. Save often. Also, some commands work differently in CbB than with old versions. Also, your CbB project clock needs to be set to 960 ppqn for any CALs that utilise time values to work correctly - ppqn can change if you import older MIDI files. For Studioware Panels.....? You’re pretty much on your own.

  13. Well, comparison between DAWs can be boring or confusing. Presonus came centuries after sonar with a DAW called Studio one and it was horrible for years. But they where very aggressive marketing that Software. I have tried it several times and can tell you guys that it was unstable and had a lot of bugs. Now, after many years of development it is a decent piece of software that has a few great features but in other fields still don't has the functionality of Cubase or Cakewalk. Try to find dimmed solo, compare Cakewalks recording features with studio one's but don't be surprised or disappointed to miss push in/ out or other things. Also the features are hidden in studio one so you have to search and search... it is a pain in the ***** imo. Studio one don't has lenses, workspaces and many other features that I'm happy to have in Cakewalk since many years or decades. Compare the abilities to render out and the abilities to export! Studio one is far behind in many ways when it comes to workflow and customisation. Don't get fooled by their advertisement and their big mouth ? Sure S1 is getting better and is a decent DAW but still not in a league with the big players, though they think they are. In addition they are getting the exact same problems all the older DAWs suffer from. Old code, stability and compatibility with the older versions. They now learn that. ??

  16. Also, you can use the BandLab app on your iPad and record or edit a project. Then you can continue the same project in Cakewalk Next or even CbB and continue from there. Next will additionally allow you to open the project with all the BandLab effects intact, since it supports BL plugins natively. I.e you can freely transition back and forth between mobile and desktop platforms during the music production process.

  17. Unify comes with a standard library of 647 patches. You do not need anything additional to use these patches. And if you do happen to own plugins like Spire or Phaseplant or Pigments, the factory library patches for these plugins can be added to Unify for free. Yes there are libraries created for Unify that require you to own Omnisphere for example, but as lawajava has stated, there are many Unify libraries that don't require any additional plugins. So I am not sure what the issue is.

  19. Well, to be fair, I really use a Studioware panel with two knobs, each with a CAL script attached. One for note time position, the other for velocity. The more I turn the respective knob clock-wise, the more the selected notes parameter can randomly deviate from its original value. That way I can dial in a subtle change, or a broad change in timing or velocity. Studioware Panels and CAL scripts are quite powerful. I only wish the Bakers would bring back the creation of them directly from within CbB. You can load them, but not create them in CbB.

  20. I have started "collecting" audio interfaces on e-bay. I mean for someone with Realtek and SB5.1 it is questionable to spend even 100€ for some "device" with unknown outcome (not even 5.1 capable!). It happened M-Audio FireWire Audiophile was around for cheap, and it is still on my desk as "default" interface (after several seconds with Shure headphones, I have recognized that Music Audio Interfaces are not the same as platinum USB cables... each computer upgrade I check if Realtek can do the trick as "default"... but no, at least not yet... lol). Later I took Phonic Firefly. I had to pay more for it, but will way less then for new with 8 channels, able to work standalone and without ground loop issues. There will be someone who wants "professional" FireWire device relatively cheap, as long as: * it works under Window 10/11 (without driver installation tricks) * there are PCIe FireWire cards I mean if FA-101 can be used under Windows 10, it is better mention that when selling on e-bay (or alike platform). And if you have PCIe FireWire which works good (so TI based) and you don't need, it may be worse to include it.

  21. This week I loaded up the latest update - wasn't really straight forward and took a while, but now, for the first time in a very long time, it seems to work properly! Will be giving it a bit of a work out over the next few weeks - it would be great if it really does work properly now Nigel

  22. If I were to name a single issue that I personally have with Cakewalk, it is stability with ASIO drivers under heavy loads. Before someone suggests a "solution"... I have tried probably over 100 tweaks tunning PC + various Cakewalk settings like general and "extra" buffers, processor scheduling, load balancing, etc. Obviously freezing tracks and disabling FX "fixes" issues, but that is not a preferred workflow. So again, please, I am not looking for tips for optimizing my PC My request is for Cakewalk / future Sonar to optimize audio engine to handle heavily VST infested project mixing. Similar to Cubase "ASIO Guard"... or make it even better, so there is more cushion before "Stopped Audio Engine" occurs. I am only talking about mixing, not "live" recording.

  26. I got this a while ago in a flash sale for a lot cheaper. That being said, I was kinda disappointed. I couldn't get any decent bass out of this. Maybe my bass was already top notch (doutbful ?), but it gets way out of control the moment I go past 10%.

  29. And don’t forget SonoBus It’s an app that you both install on a Cell Phone or Tablet as well as a Plug in. You plunk it in the master bus as the last effect in the chain. It uses the internet to send the mix to your mobile device. Just a quick question? Why do people still use MP3 and 44.1? It seems so year 2000 to me. https://sonobus.net

  32. Here's what I figured out thanks to all of your input, keep CBB routed to the audio interface. I then export an MP3, turn off the interface and just enable the laptop speakers and get a good Lo-Fi comparison. Before I was having to send the mp3 over to my tablet but that sounds about the same as the laptop speakers, i.e tinny which is what I want for the Lo-Fi comparison. Thank you to everyone I love this group.

  35. In ways I see where you're going with that, but the fundamental point of difference that actually is very similar in my opinion, is the developer still doesn't get something that they never had anyway. So whether the pirate makes money or not, it's somewhat moot as the developer hasn't experienced a loss in the same way they would if the pirate stole money or physical assets from developer. To put it another way, it doesn't cost the developer in a direct sense. I don't advocate piracy (although if a developer removed the ability to activate software someone had paid for, then fair game) and like I mentioned, I don't use pirated software personally, but speaking more philosophically, while both might be illegal and called theft, I don't see them to be equal when it comes to software as I do for physical things. When someone steals a physical object like the car which someone used in an earlier example the company no longer has the car and needs to spend money to replace it. When someone pirates software, or a library however, the company still has their copy to keep selling to whoever is wanting to buy it at that time and all they really lost was a theoretical copy and theoretical sale/royalty that they never really had.

  38. Good lord, for whom? I've always been kinda weirded out by people who stuck with SONAR when CbB is free and so much of an improvement (and were subsequently having problems with the years-old unsupported program), but in this case, I believe there will be plenty of people who will keep using the free product unless there is a paid version that is really inexpensive. Whether they will also be people who actively participate in the forum remains to be seen. If anything, I'd have the impulse to shame anyone who shamed CbB stalwarts. ? Of course there is that versionism thing where anyone, pro or volunteer, who is trying to support a program will try to convince users who are having tech issues to upgrade to the latest version to see if it helps. How long before the first angry "I even spent my hard-earned cash on buying Cakewalk Sonar to see if it would solve the problem, and now I'm out the money as well as the time and my haptic controller still can't talk to my plug-ins?"?

  39. To answer your question no you can’t use them both at the same time . You have reconfigure Cakewalk driver settings. What I do is I have a Bluetooth speaker and that can co exist with my interfaces for some reason. Not with Cakewalk playback but as said above I export the mix and use media player. I simply turn the Bluetooth speaker on and it plays. If I then turn it off Media Player returns to my interface and studio monitors. Another set up I had before was a pair of computer speakers connected to my headphone jack.

  47. @Sal Sorice this is not intentional. It's likely due to some domain changes with the new website. I'll notify the back end team. Can you access your products from your account page on the legacy website? EDIT: It turns out that Command Center is relying on the old cakewalk website which is actually now legacy.cakewalk.com. Unfortunately the only way to restore it to working is to update the command center app itself since the URL's are built into the code. That might take awhile to do since that hasn't been changed in many years. In the interim please use the account management at https://legacy.cakewalk.com/My-Account to update your old software if you need to get to it.

  48. FWIW, It's probably more hassle than it's worth. 4GB RAM is barely enough to run Win10 or Win11. With a host application and Keyscape running, the machine would be hitting the VM Swapfile (in lieu of having enough physical RAM). That would kill performance.
