FWIW I still use SoundFonts regularly. I sampled all the patches I use from my old hardware synths, and I chose SF2 as my preferred format for 2 reasons: 1. My soundfont player (SampleLord) is way more CPU friendly than Kontakt / Dimensions / Rapture Pro... PLUS I can use SampleLord on my V-Machine. 2. SF2 files are easier to manage, as they're one file vs 10's or 100's (in the case of sfz). At the end of the day, SoundFont is just a file format - it's no worse or better than any other format. Sure, there are advantages to some formats over others (e.g. release samples), but for me that's not an issue. If I export my samples as .nki, they sound exactly the same in Kontakt as they do as a sf2 in SampleLord.2 points

Hi Everybody, This is a track off of the new album I'm working on called "The Westerly Sessions Vol. IV". The main hook for this song was written by my brother Randy, and I finished up the rest of it. For the lead vocal, I sang with a MXL V67i mic through an ART MPA Gold preamp. The 12-string lead parts were played on a Danelectro. Also, for the first time, I tried New York compression on the lead vocal. As always, any comments and critiques are welcome, and thanks for listening. Here it is: https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=141238771 point

Just as the title says. You can rename any type of track from the Console View by double clicking on the name field. Is should be the same for midi tracks when working in PRV. Please consider it, Thank you!1 point

I posted this issue here about problems when write automating envelopes using a control surface and getting a smooth envelope: It would be great to have the option to select a default envelope node style when recording write automation (e.g. jump/linear/fast curve/slow curve). Or at least to be able to highlight multiple envelope nodes and bulk change them all to a certain type. At present it's almost not worth using a control surface for this sort of thing and would make workflow so much easier! It also seems to show there's a bug when you right click to drag select a bunch of nodes and then press delete on the keyboard. It doesn't delete all the nodes you've highlighted and leaves a few behind that you have to right click select again and press delete a 2nd time.1 point

Something that just sorted materialised and then would not go away. In Circles Custom Built Les Paul through Guitar Rig 5 Pro (no not 6 yet might might not) and an Arturia FX you would use Phaser. Guitar plugins made with JUCE that use neural network models to emulate real world hardware. Currently Windows 10 only. SmartGuitarAmp See video demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9DElOaZvHo&feature=youtu.be This plugin uses a WaveNet model to recreate the sound of real world hardware. The current version models a small tube amp, with the ability to add more options in the future. There is a clean/lead channel, which is equivalent to the amp's clean and full drive settings. Gain and EQ knobs were added to modulate the modeled sound. https://github.com/keyth72/SmartGuitarAmp ------------------------------------------------------ SmartGuitarPedal See video demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zwZNa7Kwwo&t=58s This plugin uses a WaveNet model to recreate the sound of real world hardware, such as a TS9 Tubescreamer or Blues Jr amp. Drive, Level, and Tone were added for simple ways to control the sound. The WaveNet model is effective at emulating distortion style effects or tube amplifiers. https://github.com/keyth72/SmartGuitarPedal1 point

Alt+MouseWheel zoom in Track View isn't working consistently for me. I have the options set to "Zoom Horizontal At Cursor" but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Of course, having written this out and gone back to Cakewalk to make sure I can reproduce, well, now it's working as expected. But i know as soon as I post this and go back to actual work in the Track View, it will happen again. I will report back here if it does.1 point

Cute pic. Funny thing on are end: we got a kitten this past January and since we all ready have our Multipoo, the kitten acts more like the dog all stretched out on the floor. She loves belly rubs. First time I have had a cat that loves belly rubs ? I'm literally on the rug with one hand petting the kitty and one petting the dog. My wife laughs at me and tells me our animals have me trained. I can't argue with her on that one.1 point

After FL Studio, and Studio One, Live is the # 3 most popular DAW in the world. Cakewalk made the list, at #8 this year. Guess free counts for something! According to Music Radar1 point

Hi Tom - yeah, I think the New York compression I used on the lead vocal is subtle - it made it sound a bit more full to my ears. Regarding the V67i - I sang in the front - labeled as Warm - the back of the mic is the bright capsule. Interesting mic - I think it's a pretty cool piece of gear - I bought it out of curiosity. I'll let my brother know you liked the song- thanks.1 point

Ah, I see. Independent from theming but still customizable. Thanks, @scook. I recommend taking a break from reading the docs and go for a walk outside or something like that ?1 point

I may just be missing an obvious way to do this, but it would be great to have a 'preview' option on the metronome setup screen. As it is now, I have to set it to how I think I want it, then start a recording to see if it sounds correct. If I could just click 'preview', adjust, then try it again, that would save a bit of time.1 point

thanks! the lead in the early parts is deliberately muted in the HF and volume as it's supposed to be backing the vocal (to be recorded). agreed, the rhythm is a bit high - i'll probably add some additional instrumentation to blend it all better, right now it's only 5 tracks total...1 point

Maybe its just my ears, but I feel like the eq on the master isn't right; maybe a bit more "air" on top and some gentle broad cut 1k-2k maybe? or lower? The rhythm guitar seems to dominate and live in its own space. I'd try and tie it all together a bit more. Just my nickel98, take it with a grain of salt.... tom1 point

Just in case, someone else is having this issue, I finally found the reason: The windows privacy settings deny access to the microphone and this seems to be also valid for line-in ?♂️. Once I allowed access to the Microphone, Cakewalk finally started recording ?1 point

Very creative - the beat has some giddy-up to it - and that lead synth was very wild. Regarding the mix - I thought the bass should come up a bit. Enjoyed the listen - cheers.1 point

Sounds possessive, but definitely not good for your colon! It makes the grade though and, if you want some proof, I give it a "d" (it needs one after the "e" in "use" anyway?).1 point

If I had to guess https://www.perforce.com/blog/vcs/what-team-foundation-server Most VC systems don't do much with binary files like CbB project files. The existing versioning built into CbB is how most VC systems handle them - opaque blobs of data.1 point

A dedicated audio interface is really the best solution, but if you're having trouble with WASAPI, integrated audio cards should be able to play back with the MME driver mode.1 point
