Colin Nicholls
Hi folks. My band's new album was released today, and to celebrate I uploaded a studio "play through" video of one of the tracks: YouTube: Working the Paradigm Shift (single edit) The track was created using Cakewalk By Bandlab. Enjoy!
Lynn Wilson
Colin, this is one of the very best songs I've heard in a while. Great video to go with the sound track. No crits, just praise! I'll be back. 1

AndyB01
Colin, just wow - awesome? I absolutely loved every second of that. Shades of Dance On A Volcano with all that staccato (I hope you don't mind the reference). Fantastic chops all round - link to the album please, where can I hear more? Absolutely top draw. User 905133
Nice tune! The conceptual interplay between the text ("paradigm shift") and shifting phrase lengths is a cool feature--lyrics and music playing off each other with multiple meanings! Excellent! Colin Nicholls
Ha, you guys are very insightful... or perhaps I'm just obvious. Correct about the influences and the intentional beat slippage in the choruses. PhonoBrainer
Uh, it's great and I agree with all of the above, plus the vid is very watchable! But I kept trippin' on that bass . . . I really studied it, haven't seen that style before, and would love to play one!!! Let's not overlook the general guitar sluttiness of this work. Lots of cool axes!!! want a crit? OK, your studio is far too clean to be real. cheers, -Tom
Colin Nicholls
@emeraldsoul, multi-scale (or "fanned-fret") basses are totally a thing, to balance string tension across the string courses. The patent on them was protected for a while but that ceased to be a problem at some point. Dingwall are probably the most well-known manufacturer these days, but other companies are catching up. SteveC
I think I remember this song from a little while ago? If so, then the video made it all that much cooler! Y'all can play. Really love this genre.
