  1. Thank you @abacab That's my favorite part too. It was simple. I just loaded both of them and selected both tracks. In Cubase, when you select more than one track, they both play. It just so happens that the keyswitches in Picked Acoustic only go so low. And if you pick lower notes, you can change bass patterns without affecting Picked Acoustic. Picked Acoustic is my favorite guitar VI anyway. ? I started out trying to make it work with ujam guitars, but it got too complicated when changing the bass part changed the guitar parts. I realized later on that it would have been easy to set up a split. Probably I should have matched Mellow with Silk.
  2. Did you get this one already, Larry? https://samplelibraryideas.com
  3. And I subscribed to you as well. I can't wait to watch your World Suite 2 video. You stream live. Wow. You are a very brave man. I'd be lost without all the editing I do. I'm sure I have lots of catastrophes ahead, but one does learn from every mistake. Thanks for your kind words.
  4. Thank you all for subscribing. Now I need to make a lot more videos. A few dozen more and it might add up to something. The problem is that I prefer to do deep dives over first looks. So they take too much time. But I learned a lot doing this one. A few tips: Remember to turn your lights on. ? Don't do a long video without turning on OBS. Maybe don't step on your expensive lav mic and obliterate it. ?
  5. Will you buy it, Larry? I might be satisfied with the MIDI. As the Vintage Bass that comes with EZBass is a Fender Jazz Bass (ujam's Royal) and, if you and I are right about this, the Classic Rock one will be a Precision (ujam's Rowdy), so they'll have two of the same instruments. Will EZBass come out with a Hofner Beatle Bass like ujam's Dandy? ? Now that I would buy.
  6. If I become a rich YouTuber (hah!) maybe someday I will be able to buy another bass. ?
  7. It looks like the new EZBass will be a Fender Precision. Do you agree?
  8. I've been working on this video for weeks. I'm taking the step of posting it here because I know many of you are very interested in both of these instruments. As it's long, here's a list of the chapters. I don't think the hyperlinks work, but the ones in the YouTube description do. Importing Music 1:28 ujam Virtual Bassist User Interface 3:31 EZBass User Interface 7:13 Making a Song with EZBass 12:50 Exporting MIDI from EZBass 21:50 Making a Song with ujam Virtual Bassist 22:49 Playing Live with ujam Virtual Bassist 28:27 Fretboard Logic 31:47 Effects 35:36 History of the Virtual Bass 39:18 Final Thoughts 44:10 As part of my research, I even took Eli Krantzberg's Groove3 course on EZBass, which I recommend. So I feel confident that you will learn a thing or two about these instruments if you check out my video, because I share what I learned from him. EZBass is complex, so I do a deep dive on it. The best part for that is "Making a Song With EZBass." ujam instruments are deceptively simple, so I do my best to paint a picture of the amazing artificial intelligence inside them. If you watch all of this, I believe you will have newfound admiration for what ujam has achieved My favorite part of the video by far is Playing Live with ujam Virtual Bassist. This is a duet between ujam's Dandy and NI's Picked Acoustic. FULL DISCLOSURE: THERE IS AN AFFILIATE LINK TO UJAM IN THE DESCRIPTION UNDER MY YOUTUBE VIDEO. BUT NOT HERE!!!
  9. You don't even need to download the thing, because the concept is explained very clearly on the page. It wouldn't be hard to do, if you needed to. Think of the numbered sections in the Band-in-a-Box matrix as cells instead of bars. With an EXPANDED style, two Band-in-a-Box cells equal one bar of music. What was a quarter note is now an eighth note. The tempo is doubled, but the EXPANDED style plays at half time to compensate for that (note the fast count-off). The style is designed to play properly at that doubled tempo. I haven't really ever needed this--the BIAB shots, holds and pushes have always done the trick for my songs--but it's nice to know this idea is out there.
  10. I soooooo wish I didn't buy Strezov's Jade Ethnic Orchestra. ? I went up and down about whether to walk out on the intro price. Total buyer's remorse. I spent weeks putting together an arrangement of "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" with it--just to convince myself that I didn't waste my money. That didn't work out. This looks like it's on a total higher level. I want it. I wish I had the money back from JEO.? It is true that JEO is as much Mongolian as it is Chinese. And it has two Mongolian choirs, plus a Vietnamese instrument and a Shakuhachi. So in some ways, it's different from this. There are a lot of instruments that I feel I have covered. I am not often tempted by another piano, guitar, violin, string library, etc unless it is something really new--like Noire or Picked Acoustic. It has to be different. But when there is a big ethnic collection like this...
  11. I find that a lot of instruments I own, load reasonably well off of a regular 7200 drive. A SSD is a little faster, but it's not a problem. Big regular drives are relatively cheap. My stuff is regular drive, SSDs, and then the the little chewing gum-sized M.2 NVme drives for the stuff that loads really slowly. On my SSDs, there's tons of stuff I own but just don't install, like a lot of the Komplete instruments, particularly if they are big. If I'm not using something enough, it goes off my drives and into my backup drives. Every now and then I make a backup of the backup drives. Also, I use cloud backup for my project files. If I write music I want a backup that night. But I don't use cloud backup for things like sample libraries because it slows everything down for me. I will be looking for a deal for another SSD during Black Friday.
  12. AudioThing has stopped showing Bells, and a lot of their other instruments, on their site. But they still let other stores sell them. In addition to PluginBoutique you can get them at KontaktHub and I think I’ve seen them in other. places too. Prices vary. I like Bells, by the way.
  13. Noire is quite nice. It's really two kinds of pianos, plus all these interesting effects. You can get a lot out of it. It's one of my favorite things to come out of NI in the last few years, along with Picked Acoustic.
  14. If somebody is worried about paying a few bucks for Carbon, just go to their site and download the free version. ujam has given out a few of their instruments before. The reason is that people often like one, so they buy more. That is exactly why I have purchased so many ujam products and wish I owned them all. But Carbon is the weirdest product they have ever made. Hans Zimmer is a ujam co-founder, and I always wondered if he was an influence on this insane Cinematic instrument. If it's a "guitar," it's not like one I've seen. I don't know if people will buy Carbon and then say... oh I think I'll get their acoustic guitar Silk. ? I just think that Carbon is super-cool.
  15. I think it was half that in their recent sale. Odd. It was also offered even cheaper than that in one of their "12 Days" sales.
  16. Arkhis is not in KU13, which really pisses me off. ? You have to buy the CE, which I don't want. As it was the thing I was most looking forward to, it might result in me passing on KU13. I own most of the stuff I really want. I was going to sell them to upgrade.
  17. I would recommend that people not pre-order this as there will be deals offered from discount stores. Time+Space gave out a free copy of Rob Papen's GO2 along with a reduced price on KU12. GO2 was one of my favorite things I got with KU12. So you can probably get it on the first or second day from a store. It can get slowed down if they don't have enough serial numbers to sell. You do not a box to get Komplete. If you have a serial number it will all turn up in Native Access and you can download it as you want to. The truth is that by the time a box arrives many applications will need updates. Do not make the assumption that everything in KU13 or KU CE will go on sale for half price during BF. I could be wrong, but that's a whole different thing. Many of the new ones won't go on sale until the summer. I doubt the Cremona Quartet will go on sale for 50% off on BF.
  18. Okay, I'm finally back. A big thank to all of you who have expressed support. I think it's important to feel safe on a forum. Otherwise it is not much fun. But I never had any intention of going away. Just not posting deals. I wasn't even tagged on this thread. I only discovered by accident that people were discussing me. That's the thing that got to me. If people have an objection to affiliate links, but they should say so to me directly and allow me to answer. And they should express what their objection is. If you don't care, why mention it? If I understand the objection that people have to affiliate links, it's that they believe it puts the authenticity of the person into question. It affects their credibility. Do you think that by disclosing it, it would change the mind of anybody who thinks that? Otherwise, who the hell cares? It doesn't cost you one cent more to click on the link. Anyway, soon enough it will become clear what I was up to, and you will all understand it wasn't about making money as a clandestine affiliate marketer.
  19. I've been posting to this forum and Larry's previous site for many years. Either people believe in what I say or they don't. But those of you who have followed my ideas and my advice know that it was always sincerely given and based on experience. And I put tremendous time into my posts, trying to be helpful. I promise I will never post any deal on this site ever again. So you all can rest easy. There will be no affiliate links from me as there will be no links at all. If I find out about a deal, I will keep it to myself. Larry finds everything, anyway. ? I hope to keep commenting on other people's deal posts, if nobody has any objections. For all my friends on this forum, if you ever have an issue with anything I do or say, I would appreciate it if you would message me directly, rather than trying to take me down in front of the whole community. For the record, I never had any affiliate relationships until a few weeks ago. If you don't believe me, you can check out my many years of posts. It was also never my intention to make posting affiliate links on this forum a permanent thing.
  20. Sounds like I should wait to get this. ? Has anybody contacted support yet?
  21. I always download UVI direct. I find their downloader to be hopeless.
  22. I remember when Adagietto first went on sale for around a hundred bucks. People went crazy on social media about how cheap that was and what a great deal it was. What a difference a few years make. It's half the price of that deal. And so many other inexpensive or free things have come out that it seems less of a deal.
  23. I am content with the Cinematic Studio Series and whatever I can afford from Orchestral Tools, which means the Inspires and the Time Series, bought on sale. The only thing by Spitfire I use is Tundra. I don't foresee myself buying any other orchestral instrument libraries except for The Orchestra 2, which I love for all the animated presets. I hope I'm almost done with Orchestral, but who knows. So I regret some of the 8dio orchestral stuff I bought, although they have a lot to offer. But their Wrenchenspiel is still my favorite Wrenchenspiel. I kid. The Wrenchenspiel is really great and a steal at $8.
  24. I was on the fence about this because I am spending a lot of money lately AND The Orchestra Complete 2 also came out today, but the very knowledgeable Mark Schmieder put me over the top on this in the forum link above. He knows what he's talking about. It's more than worth the upgrade price. But I would still love to hear your responses to the new stuff as I don't know when I'll be able to get to this.
