Some models have quite a lot options, linked/dual mono, peak/RMS detection, hard/soft knee, limiter, autogain etc.

Had the VCA  and the (Multiband) FET compressors (don't remember if that had dual mono though).

Good quality gear without busting the bank.

The second thing is a festival we did in Indonesia once. We've regularly done 2+ hour shows and they're all pretty energetic, and even on fairly hot stages we've gotten to the end pretty tired but in OK shape, all things considered. Indonesia, on the other hand, was HOT and MUGGY. By the time we made it to the first chorus of the first song, I think all of us were looking at each other going "what the hell is going on here?"  So even as a kid who grew up in desert temperatures and knows all about working in hot conditions, this still caught me off guard.  Ironically, immediately after we got off stage, a cool change came through and every band after us had a lovely relaxing evening. Sigh. ?

I dunno, I've had these for over a year now.

I was in FL twice. Once in November. Nice weather, 70s-ish. August, I was dying not only from 90+ degrees but the (what felt like) 1074% humidity.

@craigb those large critters are pretty bad the even larger ones like the poly-ticks really bite deep and hard too.

If earning money is not a concern, you *could* start an altruistic studio for up and coming local artists who can't afford hundred$ on studio time. Charge a nominal rate, for your area, to keep it somewhat professional for you and them.  

I would love to do that but sadly I'll not likely retire any time soon (too many plugins to still buy ?) .
