Well thank God we got that cleared up before he went out and got 30 rolls of green tape. Whew!

I'm pretty sure Amazon will take them back which I will do as soon as they arrive.

How has that worked for you? Been meaning to ask you. You use just the mic pres? Not the Vision Strip?

Yup, so far just the mic pre's. Maybe one day the Vision Strip too. Still learning the dark art of recording live drums.

What about the ethical consideration of using AI to write lyrics, then calling / considering yourself a songwriter?

    Just wondering.

So, I was watching a streaming series based on a novel. They gave that credit. Then they gave "Written by ...." credit for each episode. FWIW some episodes were written by the same person but some of the others were one-offs.

Got me to thinking about your "wondering".

And, if I were to use AI lyrics, they would more than likely not be verbatim, but I would adapt them to suit my vision of how the lyric should "really" go. Maybe akin to using someone's chord structures but in reverse to create something new?

  4. I did mine above like this:
    image.png.10c3f9daeb1858e4ff5fc3e6b430a979.png

My overhead is a AEA R88 Stereo Ribbon mic.

From the drummer's perspective (how I mix)

    image.png.d12531803fbc1f61b92b5ee22b09107b.png

Infront of the foam directly ahead is my Townsend Labs Sphere (set to stereo position) as my  room mics. All cymbals are spot mic'd with Sennheiser e614, toms are Sennheiser e604. Snare top is Earthworks DM20, snare bottom is Shure SM57.

And finally a right side audience perspective.
    image.png.eede6fad927beeb558a6441e72062bad.png

I have a Shure SM81A shock mounted inside the kick (with a towel underneath it) and I (uh-oh) mounted an external XLR connector to the kick shell. That's a Solomon sub and a Shure Beta 52A.

All drum mics go into my (3) Apollo x8p interfaces. I record with the Unison API mic pre's.

but only in the context of let it do whatever it wants and I'll create something to match it.

Which is the complete opposite to the way I work. I use stoopid drums to start the demo and then usually live drums after all the live players and vox are done.

Never heard the original mate but sounds cool to me.

Probably since it came out in  March 7, 1970 (on the album Mountain Climbing). The same album that Mississippi Queen was on.

The Jack Bruce version was released on 29 August 1969 (UK) on Jack's Songs For a Tailor album.

Anywhooo mate, thanks for the listen.

Very moving.  The song would be well received at a memorial service.

Thanks for listen Bjorn. Since Benni (and Ruth) are of the Jewish faith, it's too bad he did not ask me to do this before the unveiling of the headstone service his past December.

  8. TBH I have never wrapped my head around Jamstix and I own the whole lot of products. Maybe I just did not spend enough time with it. At my age time is a precious commodity.

  9. All of a sudden too many legit emails are showing up in spam.

Fortunately, I review spam email titles and senders a few times a day, but what used to be one or two a day is now like 30-50.

    Anyone else seeing this?

Anyone knows who played Bass for the doors?

    :)

Doug Lubhan (of the one album group Clear Light on Elektra) played bass on three of The Doors albums.

Cliff DeYoung of Clear Light went on be a file and TV actor.

The drummer of Clear Light, Dallas Taylor, went on the become part of this:
