I've been using Reaper for almost six years, and I've never been more productive. I have not experienced one crash.  Reaper chugs along with projects that would bring other DAWs to its knees. In all this time I've only spent $60.  When version 7 arrives I will gladly fork over another $60.

If Studio One had not implemented their Arranger and Chord tracks when they did, Reaper would be my daily DAW for sure. I too will gladly fork over another license fee for v7.

I'm like Daryl, never heard the original, but I think this sounds really good - well played and mixed

    Cool stuff guys

Thanks @Bajan Blue (Nigel). I had a comment in another forum about the cymbals/hats/OH being too much or possibly compressed.

I'm left wondering if you hear this?

"You've got some great tracks there. But it almost seems like there might be a little too much cymbal and high hat going on there. I don't know how you recorded all this, but if you used overheads I'd look at using a high pass filter all the way up to where it affects the lows of the snare but not the detail. I usually put a low pass filter on there to keep the highs from getting too swishy as well. Finally, watch out for what any compression might do to expand the cymbals in the mix. Room mics can also be a culprit with excess cymbals especially if they're compressed. Find a sweet spot in there, pull your overheads back until they disappear, then blend them back out until you have cymbals but they're not in front. I think you'll end up with a lot more clarity in your mix overall and your tracks will be able to really shine. "

as a S1/CW user. have you found a custom theme that enhances your productivity in Reaper?

or do you run with the default ui?

I forget the name, but it's sooth or smooth or something like that. I like the way it shows the indention of channel/folder/bus in the mixer.

Everybody is different - I prefer a utilitarian interface with low resource requirements. I do use a third party theme for REAPER, but mostly because I prefer flat, dark UIs, but this is also entirely subjective.

Same here. Reaper is not my daily go to, but I have great respect for its low footprint/fast install, elegant track design (it's whatever you want it to be), no need for MIcrosoft C++ libraries and the active theme community.
