  1. Well I suppose now or soon enough, if you still have Win 10 on systems, its worth considering this because after next year - October 14, 2025 - Win 10 is no longer supported or updated which means many apps will stop supporting Win 10 also. Realistically if you still have an old laptop with win 10 ( like I am typing on ), after October 14, 2025 it becomes a dead duck really so this process is probably worth doing
  2. One interesting thing about Tracktion waveform is you can use the FREE Version which is pretty well unrestricted vs alot of other free DAWs. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free BUT you can then add a choosen feature to the FREE Waveform thats part of the PRO version if you dont want all of whats in the PRO version. So - you can add this Clip Launcher feature ( Similar to Session View in Ableton ) to Waveform Free without having to buy the full Waveform Pro 13. The clip launcher feature costs $30 https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free-expansions
  3. I have been crying out here over the years for CW to do alot of work on the MATRIX view. Basically to make it similar to Abletons SESSION VIEW. This is a fab feature for spawning ideas and creativity. It seems Tracktion waveform 13 has done just this and added what they call the CLIP LAUNCHER. And yes, its essentially Session view in Ableton. In waveform Pro 13 it is launched using letter M and then over right on that panels icon edge click the show clip launcher button:
  4. Where does Cakewalk NEXT fit, this new ground up version of CW going? Its big adv is CROSS PLATFORM as Sonar IS NOT. It does have the XSAMPLER built in. I like NEXTs simplicity ( me a very longtime user of CW, since 90s ). From a marketing perspective i really dont get where NEXT is. Its part of the current sub I think, so you get new SONAR and NEXT. WHY? Whats the point? Most likely you will use SONAR over NEXT feature wise? NEXT is a groundup new DAW, where does it fit one wonders? In my view it should be marketed seperately instead of chucked in as an "aside" with Sonar. I was hoping .. at least .. they would provide a path to NEXT for those in the BETA ( I was in that ) but they cut us off at the June update ( as in more updates ). NEXT still seems to be in Beta ( see link below ). https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/contentful/ I also note in the DISCORD Channel that the updates thread stopped at start of July - Beta Version 1.0.1.133
  5. Yip it seems they have "fixed" the issue Yesterday I could get this far. I own Waveform basic 9, 11 & 12 free plus a few of there plugins But today its: So Im beginning to wonder IF I had gone and paid the $59 yesterday would I have got the full version of Pro for that price. We will never know now
  6. I dont want to try the paypal or CC in case I get charged but then it wont work .. as in the install file looks for a previous ver 10, 11 or 12 on my system.
  7. Strange, while logged in it lets me go this far:
  8. That link works once you are logged in and gives price of $59.40 .. but then I dont have Waveform 10,11 or 12. I do have 9 and 8 basic + the free waveform 12 and 13. I assume one needs a previous 10, 11, 12 serial to get this upgrade? I went to checkout and it did not ask for a previous serial or any place to fill in such things ... strange
  9. Is this a trend one wonders. With FL Studio Cloud and Cakewalk NEXT you get inbuilt access to gazillions of samples and one shots etc, while with Loopcloud it is an OUTSIDE via plugin integration to access the samples inside your DAW. The interesting extra with FL Studio Cloud is as part of annual sub of $99 you not alone get access to samples but also to a load of 3rd party Plugins with perpetual usage as long as you sub up. It includes DISTROKID sub by default to distribute your music. Of course this is all integrated inside FL Studio, I dont think you can just use these plugins in any other DAW? AND they also supply cloud mastering tools as part of the deal. Of course you can add FL Studio via a plugin inside Cakewalk etc Cakewalk NEXT is starting down a similar road but for the moment just a samples panel on the right integrated inside the DAW. The general sub for Bandlab has the distro facility also I think. The new trend then is to supply lots of integrations - samples, plugins, mastering tools, distro tools etc. Defintely pushing toward the sub model with lots of extra baubles, not just a DAW. FL Studio is the "ultimate" so far with this idea. Is this what Cakewalk / Bandlab is striving toward I wonder? https://www.image-line.com/fl-cloud/ "Get 65+ plugins, unlimited access to loops and one-shots, AI-powered mastering, and distribution, all right inside FL Studio. "

  11. Re trialing .. keep in mind WAVEFORM FREE ( based on latest paid ver ) is very usable I think: https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free comparison chart: https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-compare-versions AND - not bad for free I suppose: - Unlimited tracks, clips, folders, & submixes - VST3/VST2/AU/LV2 plugin support

  15. I notice on my core i5 with typical Intel graphics card on motherboard that the NEXT GUI has got a tad sluggish and laggy since the most recent update ( I am on the BETA version ) - 1.01.221 Though I know the beta is finished and it maybe the last few days I can use that version of NEXT? As a matter of interest, those paying the sub. Is 1.01.221 the latest version OR have things moved on version wise and not available to us ex-beta people
  16. UPDATE - Still as per above. Beta NEXT latest version still working on my system for free - happy days
  17. $300 offer for me to upgrade from V8 to 10 .... no thanks
  18. Poser is more of a 3D character builder software, not a full fledged 3D app. I have not used it in ages BUT I seem to remember you can export the character models to likes of blender with no issue. Then add them to your scene in blender. So POSER is a specific type of 3D application for character creation
  19. Poser 12 + content for £19.29 https://www.humblebundle.com/software/poser-12-3d-character-design-pack-software
  20. Fair enough. However, I find it unusual that here we have an all NEW DAW where access to it is rather restricted vs getting it out there to increase its popularity. Right now its only people paying membership and beta people that have access to it. Most likely those paying membership will use New Sonar more than NEXT? Just very odd I think, for a new DAW essentially. As it is it feels like its buried already without a chance. Would make sense to me to sell it seperately outside of membership to get it off the ground. Give it a fighting chance
  21. So as the title says - Will NEXT be available as a standalone purchase at some point? I really enjoyed its simplicity with no real clutter during the beta period. Has all you need to create tracks without too much features getting in the way deflecting you from the real biz of creation. Sometimes less toys is good .. helps you focus better on the creativity
  22. Exactly why I really like it. Though stripped down it has all you need .. the lack of clutter and nice open layout lends to better creativity for me anyway without getting lost in loads of features that many never use anyway TBH, inc myself. NEXT is a K.I.S.S DAW .. and nothing wrong with that even for seasoned pros / users in my view
  23. I was on the BETA Program for NEXT. Up to last week or so it was listed in my Cakewalk Product Center .. no longer the case. No wgone. I have that latest version installed still and it is still working, may do so for foreseeable but stuck at this new version perhaps OR it will become unusable. Really like the simplicity of NEXT. I do hope it is offered as a reasonable priced stand alone offering at some point - will buy it
  24. My main thing is i have and can get as good synth VSTis which dont install that much bloat and work even as a single VST file.
  25. It needs HALion Sonic 7.1 installed for X-Stream to work inside it. Total size near 2GB .. no thanks In the steinberg email it says: After launching the Steinberg Download Assistant, open the ‘My product downloads’ heading on the left side, where you will find your X-Stream. Download and install the recommended components (including the free HALion Sonic 7.1), then run X-Stream in HALion Sonic 7.1. That along with FIVE Steinberg Download assistant apps installed on your system
