  1. Hi Larry. I did get a bit indulgent and carried away while doing this number. The drums are from a track/clips that I got a very long time ago. Especially in a live situation, I just love it when the drummer counts in a song with her-his sticks. The count in was on the track, so I left it in. Better judgement might have ruled differently. Thanks for the tip RE: the riffs. When I pull up the working file to do some cleaning on this song, I will definitely look at adding more. The bass --- yup, it could come up more. Thanks for the suggestions - they are much appreciated!! Hey John B. I know the intro is too long and it does violate certain standards -but - I was getting along with my MIDI nemesis so well and having so much fun that I just got carried away. Also I guess that I have been listening to too much Afrobeat music (the Chilean-Fela Kuti style) and those intro's go on for miles (I love it). As far as the horns: I used the free Saxophia VST for the saxophones and NI Session Horns for the brass. Thanks for listening and for your comments. I appreciate it!! Hi Treesha. Genre, genre, genre --- It's all so confusing. Perhaps just making up a category and putting everything that do in it would be a good strategy!?..?? Kinda like my junk bag. When I start using more than 4 or 5 instruments I do have a problem with separation and individual volumes. Something to work on when I pull up the working file to do some cleaning up. Being a guitar guy, I couldn't agree more with your statement about more guitar riffs. Thanks very much for listening and for taking the time for commenting!! Hi Bjorn. You liked the intro! Well bless you!!!! I shall have to take a look at the drum hit that you mentioned. As mentioned above I used a drum track and clips that I got a long time ago. Given the nature of what the drummer was doing and the fact that I had to change the tempo, it was hard for me to match the song to the drums. Thanks very much for your comments and I appreciate the encouragement!
  2. Now this was a fun piece for listening and watching. I was fortunate that a good portion of my career included coastal ecology in and around the Tampa Bay area and lots of recreational diving in the FL Keys. Thankfully, I never encountered critters like I saw in this video. And speaking of video --- this was a very well put together and entertaining video. The music was very well done also. it was a great complement to the video. Love the bass and guitar work. This was a treat to watch and which to listen. Nice one.

    The Open Road

You indeed are on fire my friend! You have been putting up some excellent posts (video and music)! I was planning a trip out to Arizona but then CoVid 19 hit and that crimped those plans. It is still on the to do list! Very well done!

There is a lot going on in this song and it all works! I am impressed with how you managed what must have been quite a task in keeping track of what must have been a lot of tracks. It started out kind of creepy (I mean that in the best sense of the feel of the song) --- it transitioned in volume ---- and ended with definition tension. I think that you did indeed achieve tension and intensity in a very creative way. I certainly enjoyed listening.
  5. This is some great musical story telling. You have indeed captured that country "cookin'" with the music --- especially with that guitar work. That baritone voice sounds great and that video was the icing on the cake. Well done!!!
  6. Excellent!!! I love the urgency of the guitars which are complemented by the somewhat more tempered nature of the orchestration. The vocals and BGVs/harmonies are spot on. The arrangement is great and the mix well done. Oh yes, and the the lyrics deliver a great message. Most cool indeed!!!
  7. In a good faith attempt to bridge the uneasy truce that I have with things synth/MIDI, I tried to do a song using MIDI instruments/voices. I ended up having fun doing this and got a bit carried away. The result is this song. I know that the intro violates the basic rule of popular music (no long intro's) but I got carried away with my self indulgence. Anyway, any input will be much appreciated! Thanks! 8. Asoflippinlutely excellent work!!!! What an excellent message!!! Do you mean that we were lied to? What is more important -- people or profits? A rhetorical question but maybe one that we should think about. The soundtrack was perfect. Great piece -- thanks for posting.
  9. A very enjoyable, cheery song. Y'all have posted another terrific song. Great lyrics/melody, arrangement, vocals, performances and very clear, clean mix. Well done!

    Chez Café

Most cool indeed! I love the the guitar harmonics in the intro, great bass , and the easy moving rhythm. Very nice!!
  11. In fact I think that all of the members of the Shadows would enjoy this post. Great playing and very nice, clear mix. Nice one!
  12. Love it. I would love to do stuff like this but I wouldn't even know where to begin. Cool stuff!
  13. A good song indeed! Lots of good suggestions above. I enjoyed listening and with a few tweaks I think you will have achieved what your are looking for.
  14. ---- and we are glad that you do. Absoflippinlutely great! Again you set a standard here.
  15. Love it! I particularly like the message. I think that Whiosp has made some good suggestions above. I particularly like the phrasing and the slightly "de-tuned" sung notes (and harmony) on some of the words starting in around 0:52 (misunderstood, It's never good, etc) . That is a torch, jump Blues, and jazz style that I have always appreciated. I am not sure if this would be appropriate for what you are trying to do --- but -- perhaps increasing the tempo just a bit might and bringing forward the guitar (after all I'm a guitar guy) just a bit might add a bit to the reggae feel? Great work Treesha. This was a listening treat!
  16. Interesting piece with some very good change ups. Congratulations on the sale! Not sure what the game is about but it seems that this should fit an number of scenarios. I'll have to share this with my son. He is an animator (rigger) for one of the major game companies. Nice one!
  17. Hey Steve. I'm glad that the link responded. Thanks very much for listening! Hi Makke. Thank you for listening. Thanks also for the kind comments! Hi Old Joad. I am very glad that you liked it! Thanks for the very kind words!
  18. Hi Lynn. Thanks for listening and commenting again. As always, I very much appreciate your input! Hi tom. Thanks for listening and commenting a second time. Your suggestions were extremely helpful and very much appreciated! FreeEarCandy. Thanks very much for listening and for your comments. And yes I know --- my wife is usually right!!! ? Hi Treesha. Thanks very much for listening and commenting again. I appreciate it. I have been using loops for drums and I have used these set of loops on other songs. However, I have been having trouble with really "sizzley" sounding cymbals on the last two songs in which I have used these loops. I have to take a hard look at the problem or find new loops. Thanks for pointing this out! Thanks again to all who commented for the suggestions !!
  19. You have indeed captured that California surf sound of the early 1960's. For a minute or two I thought I was listening to the Ventures, Eliminators or one of the other bands of that genre. Great sound, playing and song!
  20. As a guitar "wanna be", I always enjoy guitar instrumentals -- as I did this one. As usual you playing is excellent, the song well constructed and the mix doggone near perfect. Cool stuff!!

    Misogyny

Absoflipinlutely, wonderful song. Love the build up in the intro. The guitars are perfect -- especially that one panned right. Your vocals (tone, phrasing, lyrics, etc.) are great. Great performance great mix!!!
  22. This is up to your usual high standards! It is a complex song and yet for mortals such as me, it was completely listenable (is that a word?). A lot of lyrics with a message which are carried by a great melody. The horns are icing on the cake (walk). Cool!!

    Asha - video

Excellent! The images work and the music is perfectly matched. You not only captured the sounds of India but you also brought back a wee bit of the sound of the "60's (for those of us that are old enough to remember.

Veeerrryyy nice guitar playing indeed! Love the sound. It has a bit of a jazz-blues feel to it with a touch of B B King thrown in. Good solid mix with good separation! Nice Work!
  25. Hi John. Thanks very much for the kind comments! Hi Treesha. Thank you very much for your very kind comments and your chuckle for my genre non-descriptor. All the suggestions above, including yours, were great and I have done a remix using these suggestions. Hopefully, the new mix sounds better. Thanks again!
