I agree with the comments above. This is a most pleasant piece and you mix sounds great to these old ears. I also like that "jangley" guitar -- it has a sound similar to that used on the theme song for the television show called "Due South". Jangley guitars and birds at the end --- how cool!!

I am far from being a "mix master." Therefore, I won't comment on the mix but the song in total ---WOW. Musically the music is powerful, a wee bit angry and urgent. Your vocals are absoflipinlutely great. The lyrics are excellent, in your-face and demand to be listened to. The message is spot on. I'm glad that you have it on YouTube and hope you get a lot of views. I recently read that it is estimated over 400 million guns are on the streets in this country. That is more than our population. That is all wrong!

Classic Jesse! Given my geriatric ears, I only wish the vocals were a wee bit louder. But I must say --- I luv it!!

Nice one indeed! It has a really addictive riff throughout, a good vocal hook and some nice harmonies! Your right, Guitar Rig has more in the way of Fx but being a Fender guy I picked up one of the Amplitude Fender packs and have been "goofing" around with it. Enjoyed it!!

Cool song indeed. I liked the brass matched with that bass sound. That sound at the end sounded like the I made last week when I got my most recent investment statement! Hang on for the ride!

Sorry for the delay in responding. We have been enjoying a visit from our son. Hi Bjorn. I am afraid that you are right ..."it would apply to future videos..." I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment. Hey Douglas. I am very glad that you liked it. Thanks very much for the kind comments! Hello Wookiee! I guess that we can attribute that trait to some serious cognitive dissonance. Thanks very much for the listening and the comments. Hi tom. Heart wrenching indeed! I always appreciate your comments and kind encouragement!! Thank you Nigel. I have never understood the logic in the idea that we need more guns because there are too many people out there with guns. Ah well, silly me? Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to listen!

Hi Hidden Symmetry. Thanks very much. Message rec'd on the bass. I appreciate the suggestion.

I have been watching too much TV news. The pictures of the continuing shootings are more than extremely disturbing. This song is not political but for me was cathartic. I don't care about the politics but I align with an overwhelming majority of American citizens who simply want a solution to this problem. We are supposed to be the intelligent species not a bunch of animals wantonly killing each other. Actually in scientific nomenclature we are animals (Kingdom: Animalia) but I digress. The point I am trying to make is that we are better than this --- aren't we? Now that I have that out of my system -- I am not sure in what genre this song would fall but it is a wee bit different for me. I did it a bit rapidly, --- so, it probably needs a bit more work. For example, the vocals/harmony in the choruses probably need a little tightening-up and synch'ing. Any comments, suggestions, crit's, etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481

AAAAAAh - I clicked on it and it took me to "page can't be found! I have to hear this number!!

Veeery coool indeed! It has a bit of a Brubeck "cool jazz" feel to it. Love that double bass line through out!
-
Thanks for introducing me to Mobius strips. Interesting and enjoyable piece. Well done!

Hi Kevin. I certainly don't disagree about the chorus. I tend to put the song aside for a while and collect input. Then I go back and try out the suggestions. The point being, I appreciate your suggestions and appreciate your taking the time to listen and share your ideas. Many thanks!! Hello Bapu! Tom Petty -- how nice! One of my favourite Florida guys (band). Ya, the rhythm could definitely come forward a bit - after all Blues is all about the rhythm. Thanks very much for listening and taking the time to comment!!

Hi Jack. Thanks for listening and I'm glad that you liked it! Hey Jesse. Thanks very much (2 times)! I appreciate your kind comments. I have commented on some of your recent postings and as always they are a listening treat!! Hi David. Thanks for listening and also for your very kind comments. I haven't played live since college days -- that was shortly after they invented electricity. During my working days and family needs the guitar was stuffed away in the closet. In my state of advanced chronology now - I'm afraid that live performing would be too intimidating. Thanks again! Hi Nigel. Thanks very much for the kind comments. BTW, I love your recent post!! Hi tom! You were absolutely right in your assumption of the key. I really appreciate your suggestions!! I am very poorly schooled on the subject and was inspired to go and learn more about the subject. I do not consider myself a musician but a hack who loves the topic and needs all the help he can get. Thanks again!! Hey John. Good to see you back on the forum and I very much enjoyed your recent post!! Ah, a torch song is a song about unrequited love with one person lamenting the situation and the other person - well -gone. Torch songs have been done in all musical genre but my favourites have been done in one style or another of the Blues. Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment!!

I don't know Vangelis but I do know that I like this song. You have weaved together some great sounds. Even though this is a long song there is enough to hold ones attention through out! Excellent work!!!
-
Hi John glad to see you back on the forum! This a nice reflective song and the performance and mix sound good. I like that pause around 1:40 and the bass line that follows. Very nice work indeed!
-
Once again you have achieved stellar stuff. I very much like the "partnership" between acoustic and electric guitars. Ah, the quick ending -- cool. This was an aural/visual treat!!
-
Great uplifting song --- lyrics and music. Mix sounds good to me and the video is impressive. I agree with John above - good transitions between "heavy and mellow." Oh ya, I like the quick ending also.

Hi Douglas. Thank you! I appreciate the kind words and thanks for listening. Hey Wookiee. I went back and gave it another listen. My intent was not to clutter up the rhythm such that it would interfere with the vocals. However, in listening again, I appreciate your suggestion. Perhaps a wee bit of modest cymbals work and discrete fills might help move it along a bit more. Thanks for taking the time to listen and thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated! Hi Allan. My sinuses and allergies were in full bloom when I recorded this number. Perhaps that accounts for the Dylanesque feel - lol. Thank you very much for listening and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it! Hey tom. Murphy's Law Of Song Writing --- ah, the story of my life. Always on the outside looking in?!? You have a good ear my friend. I did use the triads that you mentioned on the high strings. I used the A and E chords sliding back and forth to try and create a rhythmic feel in those sections. In recording this I also tried the minor and 7th's and various combinations of each but to my ears the first triads used sounded best.. I was trying to not step on the vocals. However, It sounds as if my use of the major cords, did exactly the opposite of what I intended. I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Thanks very much for taking the time to point this out. I always appreciate your input! Hi Bjorn. I am glad that you liked the song. I was interested in your comment about the chorus. Did you mean a different arrangement or presentation of the chorus, lyrics, vocals, etc. I would really appreciate any thoughts that you may have. Thanks very much for listening and taking time to comment!

This song starts out like Devo meets the Ventures (a complement) and branches out into a nice sounding pop song with a bit of a retro feel. The change-ups work well. Very nice indeed!
-
Cool song with a bit of an edge. The guitar riff panned center and vocals (well the soft parts) remind me a wee bit of Bowie. Good performance and the mix keeps every thing well separated!
-
This is definitely different from you galactic excursions but I enjoyed it just as much. As I have stated before -- your stuff tends to cause me to visualize and leave me with certain feeling resulting from you use of sounds. This one left me with a cheerful, happy feeling. Yes, creative and very nicely done!
-
Yes, a very nice pleasant song indeed? The mix sounds great -- crystal clear and great separation of all instruments/sounds. You performance was great and I liked the ending as well. In particular, the bass sounds good and I always appreciate the sounds of a vibraphone. Nice one!

Here is a bluesy number done up in the torch song style of the 1940's - 1950's (sort of). The fictitious subject of the song is bemoaning a lost love but does not want sympathy. Quite frankly, if I would dare to comment on an imaginary situation, he probably was lucky to get rid of her (I jest of course). It is a bit different from my usual Blues stuff and therefore, I would very much appreciate any crit.'s, comments, suggestions, etc. Thanks!!
