Can Reaper song project file be brought into Cakewalk
OutrageProductions replied to treesha's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Save a MIDI file from Reaper for markers/tempo/metronome if needed later. Bounce all audio tracks so that they start at Bar 1 / Beat 1 and export as stems into wave files at original SR/BR. You may also want to save as Broadcast Wave files. Label tracks/stems well for identification. Then when you import into CbB you can strip out the digital black and edit to your hearts content. -
Activating Cakewalk Software

Have you cleared your browser cache and then rebooted the computer? -
Save a MIDI file from PT for markers/tempo/metronome if needed later. Bounce all audio tracks so that they start at Bar 1 / Beat 1 and export as stems into wave files. You may also want to save as Broadcast Wave files (not all PT can do this well). Label tracks/stems well for identification. Then when you import into CbB you can strip out the digital black and edit to your hearts content. OMF was a great idea that never really gained traction and is basically useless in todays marketplace. I wrote a white paper on digital session transfer protocols in 1994 for the AES. If I locate a PDF of it I'll post later.

Multiple tracks changing colors (unintended)
OutrageProductions replied to Sven's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
From the documentation; If you do not want tracks to inherit bus colors, go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Colors and click the Track Defaults button, then click and hold down the Follow Bus button and select Default on the pop-up menu. You can also configure individual tracks to ignore bus colors (see “To select a track color” on page 323). -
Any tape that old should really be baked first before loading on a machine and only one capture pass attempted. Definitely a job for a professional. Contact edaudio@tangible-technology(dot)com for a quote. Great guy.

I've seen Presonus Audiobox as low as $45 and Scarlett Solo at $65 used on Ebay last week. And AT 2020 mics about $60 recently.

I was at a wrap party at NRG in North Hollywood and when GS walked in, nearly everyone else left... there was only enough room available for him and his ego.

Extended end of song
OutrageProductions replied to Richard Schweitzer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I use markers for the start of the export (since I often begin a composition at bar 2 or 3 or with a pickup phrase at 2:03.00 etc) and a marker at the end of the fade out on the master bus (if such is applicable), then use the start/end markers for the export range. Boom... done. -
Out of sync using AudioSnap
OutrageProductions replied to rashidDrums's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I find that the faster way to align tempo is to turn off the Snap to Grid, locate the downbeat, RMB in the timeline and Set Beat to Now. Continue playing until the metronome starts to drift, rinse & repeat. -
That would be a query for Technical Support at Novation or a reference to the device owners manual.

With Hollywood on strike, many projects have been put on hiatus or canceled so my budget is strict for new instruments. Luckily my arsenal is well stocked. And to top that off, Lifetime TV just reduced their soundtrack allotment to $5k for 80 minutes of original music. I expect other majors to follow suit shortly. I won't work that cheap, so retirement is looking really good.

Outline (highlight) tracks belonging to specific busses
OutrageProductions replied to Misha's topic in Feedback Loop
Assign track color to follow the bus. -
Or you could <Save a Copy As> with a 'raw' name and then reset it and strip out all the bells & tweaks.

Under $100 and definitely better than onboard I/O, with real ASIO drivers. https://www.presonus.com/en-US/interfaces/usb-audio-interfaces/audiobox-series/2777700108.html

Be that as it may, my original post still stands. If you had payed attention to the development of K7, it was explicitly written with a new code base, requiring minor changes in new exclusive instruments that make them backwards incompatible. I run both K6 & K7 and have not logged any hugh differences in load or run times.

Snap to Grid / Nudge problem...
OutrageProductions replied to ROBERT KREMER JR's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
In the clip properties Inspector, you could type in the exact bar/beat/tick where you want it placed and that will move it. Don't know about replacing old with new though, may have to edit it post move. -

FR: Shrink/Stretching Grouped PRV Notes
OutrageProductions replied to sjoens's topic in Feedback Loop
I do something like that often by using <N> (snap to grid off) then pull/push the beginning of the notes L/R. But only if I'm really opting to mess with timing or attack. -
This is home on a good day. I have friends in town on a fiber net with 1Gb up & down. Jealous!

NI Session Horns Pro vs Straight ahead Jazz Horns vs...?
OutrageProductions replied to Leizer's topic in Deals
I have both those AND the Indiginus Blue Street Brass (which has a lot of solo patches, but no articulations) and layer them up often. Can get some really killer EW&F type stuff going that way. -
Creative Sauce: How to export CbB songs for use in other DAWs
OutrageProductions replied to User 905133's topic in Tutorials
Among the many things that we should be thankful for is the new Export module dialog. I remember well the days when you had to make sure that each and every audio track was extended to Bar 1 Beat 1, bounced, and then saved as Broadcast Wave files in order for Pro Tools and Nuendo to be able to import them in the correct timing. Whew... so much easier now. -
SMPTE/EBU is a worldwide standard for longitudinal timecode as an audio stream. I used to own an Otari TC gen/rdr that was battery powered and was about 4"x5"x1.5" with display... just looked for it in my accessories storage and it is gone. However, it was very similar in appearance and operation to THIS. You could find out what frame rate (24/25/30/29.97/df) that you need to use, record the output of this unit on right channel, music on left. Boom... done.
