  1. I can’t think of but one thing. If you create a song with a plugin, then you update the plugin software. Sometimes programmers will use a different name. All plugins have registered names. Not like the ones we see, but like My bassfingers VST ID: 1296453715 if the programmers change this number cakewalk won’t know that that’s the same Plugin. Sometimes they do it on purpose for different reasons. Sometimes I just think it’s just an accident. NOT-Lol ! Sometimes it’s a simple as rebooting your computer and restarting sonar or Cakewalk to correct things
  2. It looks like a midi track. A midi track has no sound. It has to make sounds through a soft synth or a keyboard (midi module)
  3. Oh yes to move 1 track click on 1 track. It will also unselect all others. No CTRL Then go back and select what you need.
  4. Thank Mark and Glenn. I do mix a lot at night after everyone else has gone to sleep. I have been using Arc 3 and sound reference. I tend to screw up my mixes doing this. That is why I was looking into VSX. The waves things were fun at first, but in all actuality, never improved my mixes. I guess a need to go finish measuring my room again for some Glenn fine tuning.
  5. “More and more I find myself opening projects direct from windows explorer just to make sure I'm opening the last project I was working on and not some earlier version“ I have to keep reminding myself about this! File open and sort by date reverse. It’s sad when you finish touching up v21 and it is sounding so good , but you do a save as to increment the number and you see v23, v24! Lol
  6. I’ll send you the version of ffmpeg mine uses. You could try it. I’ll try to do it tomorrow. Do you have win 11? Steps on how to change MP4 to WAV with FFmpeg 1)Download FFmpeg library and install it. 2)Open Terminal / Command Prompt on your computer. 3)Type in the command: ffmpeg -i inputvideoname.mp4 outputaudioname.wav. ... 4)Press “Enter” to start converting MP4 to WAV. Does this work?
  7. I have the waves CLA room , Ocean way and the rest. I have never got much out of these. Is the Slate better/different. I think I ready there was some binaural stuff in this setup. Anyone use these? Is it just more plug-in sales hype??? Thanks
  8. You could re-read path stuff or I think you could drop the files in any of the default windows paths. Variable: %PATH% Default Value: C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem; etc. Details: Contains a list of paths to binary files used by various programs. You can execute the files kept in these directories directly from the command line without using the entire path. one of the default pre setup folders. Any of the above.
  9. Yes windows could do this https://www.editframe.com/guides/how-to-install-and-start-using-ffmpeg-in-under-10-minutes offical site https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html#build-windows edit- Qucik meds converter is a GUI only. Sometimes called a front end. All it does is sort thru the hundreds of commands that ffmpeg has built into it. QMC sends this to ffmpeg c:\fmpeg myvideo -r -g 225, 860, /w /c /e :f mp3 /280 /o /etc so you don’t have to memorize all this stuff lol! ffmpeg is a command line application with no GUI. That’s why most humans need QMC or other front end to use it Including me lol
  10. Rain that is super Koooool looking. I'll bet it works great too!
  11. I thought turning it up to 11 was great back in the day. Now your telling me we got a 1000db dynamic range! I was going to create a few .1hz-1.0hz audio wave files and see what they would sound like at 1000db. Now you've ruined everything by this "everything is clamped to 0db" 😆
  12. I guess I should have done this. Sorry about all the graphics.I just looked this program supports 60 different video formats. Dozens of iphone,iPod and other phone formats. Xbox, Playstation, Wii DVD, H264. HTML5, Youtube , Windows media player. Just hover the icon for general info. Click and the selections for that group appear. Don't buy it, I think the guy quit working on it. Free, MANY types or conversions, Unlimited length, Free Internet Downloader.
  13. No limit on file length. I hope I have these in order. I know it’s a bad UI, but once you learn it, it is very easy to operate. + to add files music note for audio Circle thing to convert folder icon to locate the file Hope this helps (This is like Razor Lame-which is dependent on Lame. Quick media converter is only a GUI for ffmpeg which must be installed for it to operate) I think many programs use ffmpeg for the actual conversion)
  14. I export at 24. Every once in a while I use 32bit. I don’t think I could tell the difference in a blind test, but I’m not sure I think I need to try it. You might try it as well.
  15. No but Quick media converter will do several phone formats, AAC and a ton of stuff.
  16. I’m not going to continue monthly forever. I am trying to decide what to do. Even though I have purchased every version of Cakewalk Thru Sonar(original version) since windows3, I am now semi-retired. I’m not sure about continuing this, my 1st, subscription ever. If it wasn’t for the CWBL version as a fall back, I would not even think about it. I’m very torn now that Sonar is actually better than Cake. The engine has had optimizations that make big projects 80-120 tracks 100+ plugins running much smoother! Much, much smoother even on my ancient i7 4 core Decisions decisions ….. Sorry OT - Craig. Wow I sure didn’t know that!! Thanks. I use Vegas and Samplitude. I haven’t upgraded them for years! Got to decide whether to upgrade before the crash or just hope they keep working for a few more years. lol.
  17. For wave to mp3 I have always liked RazorLame. The actual encoder is Lame. Lame has been around for years (1998). Lame has had many versions through the years. It is still considered the best mp3 encoder. This pair once setup is super fast, easy to use and free. This only makes mp3s. It doesn’t do other stuff. Quick media converter does a ton of stuff. It even has codecs for some phone formats. I use both. If it’s just audio I usually tend to use RazorLame. https://lame.sourceforge.io/ https://www.videohelp.com/software/RazorLame The video help site has a ton of great stuff. You might want to look around a little.
  18. I have used this for ages. It is free. Quick Media converter. It uses FFMPEG codec which is also free. It does not do everything, but it does some odd ones no one else does. It also has batch conversions that could be a batch with video conversions and mixed with some audio in the same batch. https://www.cocoonsoftware.com/
  19. Sorry I missed your question. No, I ran the bat file as administrator. I still can't get it to install. Thanks for any help.
  20. Yes this is a good idea visual C++ redistributibles I don’t know where the link is. Do you have any custom folder locations? If so, are they getting reset?
  21. I didn’t know what it was. I was assuming it might have been several spaces in the path to the .dll file. I have never had any of your installer do this before. Thanks again for all the great pulgins!!
