Cakewalk / Cakewalk Sonar PSR 975 question
James Argo replied to Perry Kappetein's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You don't need any additional MIDI adapter to connect PSRS970/S975 to Cakewalk. Yamaha PSRS970/S975 has built in MIDI adapter for you to connect to your PC using USB cable. Just get the proper USB cable, connect to your PC, and Windows will automatically install the generic driver to use. Or better yet, download the Yamaha driver (I think it's better than generic Windows driver). https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-s970/downloads.html Once you install it, the device will show in Cakewalk's preferences MIDI device. There you can then define / import the ins file. -
Cakewalk / Cakewalk Sonar PSR 975 question
James Argo replied to Perry Kappetein's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You can import and use instrument definition file (ins) only if you have have at least 1 MIDI Out port installed and activated in preferences --> MIDI --> Devices. Since you said you don't have MIDI adapter, I assume all this time you transfer MIDI files (in standard midi file extension .mid ) using flash disk (USB drive) between CbB and your Yamaha PSR975. -
ASIO mode will not let you run more than 1 instance of audio driver at the same time. That means if you run in ASIO mode, you can only run 1 audio driver to use with your audio application. If your audio driver allows running 2 cards at the same time (for example, my PC has 2 MAudio Delta 1010LTs running 1 driver), then I can use both cards in Cakewalk. I guess it will not happen if you run 2 different cards from different manufacturer, unless you run Cakewalk with WDM, WASAPI or MME mode. Preferences --> Audio --> Playback and Recording --> Driver Mode.

Just reminding, we have this bug introduced in 07. @Ben Staton said it was fixed and will be in next release. Looks like the problem is still there even after installing the hot fix. Please also read my reply in the bottom of the thread. Thank you guys! You all are hot and cool at the same time!!!

Sweet! Thanks @scook !! ??

Awesome! Thanks Scook! Now you tell me how to capture that moving screenshot with cursor ?
-
Oh, and you need to move your "NOW" vertical bar out of the marker, so you can see the marker, don't let the NOW bar hides the marker.
-
I can not take screenshot of the arrow to show you, because Windows doesn't include mouse cursor on screenshot. You need to hover on top area of the marker, slowly move it around until it turns to M like my previous post.
-
Hover the mouse cursor to the marker until the cursor turn into something like this : M <-||-> Right click on it, then press Delete
-
You need "tone generator" to play MIDI. Either external MIDI synth, or softsynth. Cakewalk comes with bundled default softsynth called TTS-1. To make it simple, in Cakewalk menu, click Insert--> Softsynth --> Cakewalk --> Cakewalk TTS-1. Then route your MIDI track's output to that TTS-1 track to make sound.
-
Another good option. However they are listed around $160-$190.

That's why people invest in jog wheel control surfaces. If you happen to get access to ebay, there's many Frontier Tranzport for sale under $50. The product is discontinued, I'm not sure if it works in win10, but I know it still work without problem with win 7- 8.1 x64.

The "boxed mouse cursor" is also seen in Track View with or without MIDI track. In Track view, insert marker. Move the "now time" vertical bar so you can see the marker. Hover your mouse cursor to the marker and RIGHT click. Move the cursor up or down while still pressing the right click (it suposse to resize all tracks if there is any track in track view). There you go... The cursor is boxed.
-
With Smart tools selected, move your cursor over the marker, stop on top of the marker's name when you see the pointer turns into small "M". Right click and press Delete.

[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2019.07 Early Access 1
James Argo replied to Jesse Jost's topic in Early Access Program
Man, I LOVE the new "Smart tools" !!!!! Thank you!!! BTW, if there is time to work on things, could you please take a look at this "bug"? I was hoping it is fixed in next release, but after trying the new 07.2019 EAP, the problem is still there. Thanks Noel! -

Tranzport weirdness in Cakewalk by Bandlab
James Argo replied to Blogospherianman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The problem is not exclusive to Tranzport... It also happens to my other control surfaces that able to "listen" to feedback. If CbB lost focus, the control surface stop "listening" to Cakewalk. I tried drawing simple volume envelope on track, and play. My Peavey SudioMix's motorized fader will respond to that volume change when CbB is in focus. Once CbB lost focus, the StudioMix motorized fader stop responding to CbB. CbB stil play normaly, but the volume envelope doesn't move the motorized fader. This is not the case with Splat, and I don't remember if the recent CbB update has caused this. -
On the technical side -if you have any chance- try experimenting with outboard preamps instead of the stock in your audio interface. It's amazing on how the sound change when you pair certain mic with different mic preamp. Take it for good and bad. In my case, I have many ordinary -under $500- mics (either condenser, dynamic or ribbon) that sound great when I pair them with different preamps. Usually, if I think I have the right mic on the right position and the room is ok, but I didn't quite satisfy with the result, the first thing I would do is to change the preamp and see if that helps.

Tranzport weirdness in Cakewalk by Bandlab
James Argo replied to Blogospherianman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Confirmed.. When Cakewalk is out of focus, Tranzport's screen doesn't display what's going on Cakewalk. We still can control Cakewalk with Tranzport, but the Tranzport's screen freeze. It works normal in Splat. I'm on Win7 x64. -
Consider your vocal's characteristic, it's not bad for the raw take actually. It's fine. There's a way to make it better, but could you please tell us more about the preamp, soundacard, setting and the routing?

Drag and Drop with EZDrummer2 not working
James Argo replied to Jeff Dolan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I can. And so Superior Drummer 2. I can easily drag and drop clips to track without problem.
