  1. It depends on how "smart" you do the trick For example, if your target final tempo is 94BPM, instead of record it initially in 50BPM, you will get better result recording it in 47BPM (94BPM/2). Therefore you only need to "double" the speed to achieve 94BPM. Once you record your material in 47BPM, trim the beginning and the end of the clip to nearest measure. Note on how many measure the clip length occupy. For example, if the clip length occupy 50 measures, then ctrl+shift + drag the end of the clip 25 measures to the left (to stretch it half the length just like Mark showed on his video above). Check if it works as desired. You may need to practice this method for sometime, when you get the idea, you can expect better result. Cheers.
  2. Haaa... Where did you hear rumor says Cakey about to drop CAL support anyway?
  3. Back in 2005, I invested on 4 pieces of Hoontech DSP2000 C-Port interfaces.. Very solid piece of gear that ran only in WinXP. In 2008 they discontinued the product & never release x64 driver. Now they sit doing nothing in my rack for almost 13 years... So sad to see many good gears wasted due to incompatibility with newer system.
  4. In order to use Yamaha PSR S950 as MIDI controller, you can connect USB cable from your keyboard straight to your computer, and install the Yamaha MIDI driver : https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-s950/downloads.html Many info there as well.
  5. Do you have the driver installed? Here you can find many software for DM2000 : https://usa.yamaha.com/products/proaudio/mixers/dm2000vcm/downloads.html Hope you get an idea & info on that site.
  6. Can you tell us the type / series of your Yamaha keyboard ? And what Windows do you use (Win 7, 8, 10)? Many devices require you to install driver for them to work. You probably need to install one for your Yamaha keyboard.
  7. If your Yamaha keyboard has MIDI in / out port, all you need is MIDI interface so you can record your playing to Cakewalk as MIDI data. There you can also capture the dynamic & touch of your playing. Then you can edit the notes / MIDI track in piano roll when necessary. The problem with virtual MIDI keyboard is it likely will input MIDI notes on same default velocity, resulting in the sound being "unreal" & lack of dynamic. You can start by looking for MIDI interface to connect your Yamaha keyboard to your PC.
  8. AFAIK, some bundled ProChannel modules made by Cakewalk have special things in them, for example you can not insert *both* PC4K S-Type Bus Compressor and PC76 U-type Compressor in the same channel strip. You have to chose either one, or not at all. Thus, if you already have PC76 U-type Compressor, the PC4K S-Type Bus Compressor will disappear from the insert module menu. IF the channel strip doesn't have either of them (or remove it from the strip), both compressor will then be available in the menu for you to insert either one. Another example is the Glossy EQ which by default is integrated and irremovable from the Channel strip. Other Cakey made ProChannel module (like Cakewalk CA-2A) works like other regular PC module.
  9. Aah I see.. BTW, do you run the DXi version or the VSTi version of Edirol Orchestra? I had the same problem with the DXi version on x64 platform, while the VSTi runs fine on Win7 x64. You probably want to try the VSTi version if you haven't done so.
  10. That's strange.. I'm still using Edirol Orchestral in CbB until this very day without any problem, versatile kind of orchestra that sits nicely on mix like other Roland's synths. I'm on Win7 x64.
  11. 1. Make sure you include the SONAR 8.5 's VST folder in CbB VST folder Preferences. Then do full re scan. 2. You probably want to pick another plugin layout, in case you use customized layout that hide plugins to appear when you right click FX bin.
  12. The flexibility and convenience of Copy pasting things in Cakewalk have been one of the big reason I love Cakewalk. Try to play around with "Paste special" and ctrl + D, you will get an idea how they really help your copy pasting work flow.
  13. AFAIK, there is no such "free download package". Overloud does offer demo version to download here. If you had either Sonar Artist, Professional, or Platinum, it includes special package of Overloud's TH3 Cakewalk, BREVERB Cakewalk and REmatrix Solo bundled.
  14. If you use workspace that does not include "Surround" (in "Show in the GUI" on workspace manager), then the surround will disappear from the Preferences. If you want the surround to appear in the Preferences, then make sure you include "surround" in your Workspace (or set it to None like Scook mentioned above).
  15. The Control Surface Installer you mentioned can only be installed if you have Sonar (and is installed) prior to Cakewalk by BandLab. Otherwise it wont allow you to install. I told the dev team about it . even in the old Cakewalk Forum. VS-700 control surface needs different plugin (CSP) to install (different file). I have sent the file to the OP's email.
  16. Been there recently (BandLab assistant keeps showing update available). I downloaded the latest version from BandLab website, and reinstall after I uninstall the old one. It still bugged me to update. Checked Windows Control Panel and found 2 instances of BandLab application of different version. Uninstall both and do clean install afterward. Still no luck. So I click the update green button and forget about it. After like 15 or 20 minutes of no activity, there's notification that it appears to install the update. Click next etc, and the assistant restarts itself... Then it becomes version 6.3.0 (the latest). Looks like we need to update the assistant within the application rather than to download from the website. It takes some time to update itself in the background. It will eventually update automatically after background download. Hope it helps...
  17. I sent you the file, check your email. BTW, you better remove your email address in the post, it may attract spam to your inbox.
  18. Suitable is relative... What suitable for me may / may not suitable for you. Any nowdays PC running x64 Windows should be fine in general.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, if you have 2 physical drive, then it's advisable to set "Global audio folder" and "Picture folder" on the second drive, assuming you install OS and Cakewalk in your first drive.
  20. Thanks! I did reply his message in my inbox.
  21. I replied your message with explanation, Mr Williams
  22. My main reason to go control surface was the jog / shuttle . Back in '90s, Cakewalk was only used as MIDI sequencer. I used stacked Alesis ADAT to do multi track audio recording. controlled by Alesis BRC controller. I got used to the jog wheel so much to jump among locations in a song. When I switch to "all in the box" early 2000 (Sonar 2XL era), I found mouse and keyboard didn't catch my efficiency as when I work with BRC. Thank God, Cakewalk (in partnership with Peavey) offered their first dedicated control surface with not only the jog wheel, shuttle and transport buttons, but also the glorious of 9 motorized faders! And they all are assignable. It doesn't take long for me to order the Peavey StudioMix and it sat perfectly on my mixing desk. I even buy another one for my secondary DAW, and both of them are still in used until today. In addition to the Peavey StudioMix, I also utilize Frontier Tranzport (wireless). As a bonus, they also give some good impression on clients. ?
  23. Have you tried using another MIDI interface? I found several MIDI interfaces (specialy cheap USB ones) tend to "filter" MIDI data being sent to external MIDI devices due to buffer limitation. They seem OK for song playback, but can not be used to transfer larger size data (eg. bulk dump, sending sys ex data, etc).
  24. What Windows (7,8,10) ? Have you tried running Cakewalk as administrator? Most case violation & restriction problem can be solved by running as administrator.
  25. Everything you need will come to you at perfect time. You don't wait for the update, the update is waiting for you to be ready.
