OMG, we used one of those 688's back in the 90's. All the punching in and out we ruined the heads and kind of barely salvaged a years worth of band recording. I do think certain things sounded better recorded to tape, rhythm guitar sounds were great, vocals were better too. Don't remember mine being midi, just a cassette.
I've screwed up some tracks from too much stretching.
I would zoom in a lot more and make sure your transient markers bracket the part well before stretching. It's worth learning how to use the transients, I always use them to tighten up my bass and drum parts, makes the groove so much tighter sounding.
I like this tune, reminds me of a Paul Simon song. To me it needs more bottom end and the drums are a long ways away. Maybe that's what you are going for .
So I did a drag and drop from my cakewalk projects folder but none of the fx came with the tracks , it's all just dry. Is there a way to get them over with everything?
I think this started after one of the last couple updates because it always worked perfectly before. It will open and works fine it's just a bit scary when everything freezes (the song will keep playing though).

I re-recorded the intro part because the string sound was bugging me. I also added a graphic eq to the bass to get rid of the hiss. Did a little remix on the strings.
