Thank you, Steve! I don't know why I didn't like it. I'm still not much of a fan of it, but if JL sang it, I guarantee it would sound so much better than what I have now and I might come around. 😀 It's hard to listen to, let alone like my own music, especially when I hear the work of so many much more talented people, many of whom post regularly on this forum (yourself included). I very much appreciate you listening and your very kind comments are most welcome. It's very nice to hear that something I've done has some value to some folks.

Thanks for listening, as always, your critique is on the mark. I can't un-hear that snare. Must fix it.

    The Show

Here's another one from the reject pile. I wrote this and did the balance of the recording in 2019 but for some reason I so loathed this song that I put it from my mind and promptly forgot about. I ran across it this week and thought, gee, that doesn't suck too terribly bad. I know it's a bit rough around the edges but I don't think it deserves the derision I mentally heaped upon it. Anyway, here it is, The Show. Update: My apologies for reviving this, but I had neglected to post the updates based on feedback. I've adjusted the mix to tame the snare and actually ended up changing the drum set. I've also brought back some guitar bits that I had inadvertently left out of the last mix. Thank you all for listening and critiquing, it's been a fun learning experience. the show kevin walsh 10/23/2019 they always come at night just before the closing invoking certain rights with the guns that they are holding same old show same old show just waiting for that minute when you have let your guard down and you find that they have left a candle for your take down same old show yeah they know and they always seem to know which way to go and they always know just how to make it so woah woah humiliation burns you while they carry out their shakedown and you're choking on the bits of the situation breakdown well you know yeah you know they're sifting through the bones while you hide among the ashes and they hum their little songs and the flames race up the sashes so it goes yeah so it goes and they always seem to know which way to go and they always know just how to make it so oh yeah i know there's something oh yeah there's trouble on the way yeah i'll be there in the morning oh yeah might be here to stay you handle all the setbacks and you rise above the anger but they'll always be behind you and you'll always feel the danger so it goes yeah so it goes you know there's something to it cause you read it in the paper try not to think about it save it all for later so you know so you know and they always seem to know which way to go and they always know just how to make it so
  4. I missed this one the last time you posted, which is a shame because it's a wonderful song with a great sound. My hearing is such that shakers don't make a lot of difference, but that does nothing to detract from my enjoyment of the song. I can't recall right now the band that this reminds me of, something from the great prog awakening of the 70's and early 80's, and particularly the vocal, but it'll come to me. Stellar work!
  5. Top notch cover! Mix is great and all the instruments are nice and clear. Really sweet performances too, well done to all!
  6. Great cover of a fantastic song! Very nice mix with really fine performances. I thought the drums sounded quite good, but the lead and vocal parts stood out to me as especially nice. Pretty damned tight band you have there!

You don't sound exactly like him, but there are nuances to the way you express yourself that are in the David Byrne School if you will. It's not a bad thing at all!
  8. Thanks! I used two Valhalla DSP plugins for reverb and delay. Vintage Verb and Ultramassive delay. If you use them, be careful, they are mighty weapons. Thanks for listening and for posting your comments!

Pretty damn cool jack. Really really love the synths in this one and the arrangement is very smooth. The David Byrne style vocals on top are the icing on the cake, well done.
  11. Nice one, steve! Great lyrics, well executed vocals. But man, your arrangement is spot on and the mix sounds really good to me. But listen to nigel, I'm going deaf too. Enjoyed it!
  12. Thank you, steve, I really appreciate your feedback!
  13. I love delays on guitars. Part of my addiction to Gilmore, probably. I didn't notice any crowding during the busy bits. Arrangement is just super.
  14. Sounds pristine to me, as always. Love the tandem harmony guitars. Excellence through and through.
  15. Thanks for the listen and the feedback! The world needs more guitar rock music!
  16. Wow, nice work. There's so many changes of mood here, but it always finds its way back to that smooth groove. All the voices and the way they work together makes my head spin. I particularly enjoyed m the lead since sounds and the brass.
  17. This is a great one bjorn. The video is exquisitely painful, and the music is so appropriate for. I love the I love the sounds and the vibe of the whole thing.
  18. Really beautiful song and killer guitar and vocals. The vocal arrangement is awesome. Such a nice mix too.
  19. Funky groove with a strong driving bass line that works well with the drums. Its a very clean, balanced mix, really liked the guitar tones and the vocals mixed well with the backing track. Good lyrics too. Nice job!
  20. Thanks for lending me your ears, I appreciate your help!
  21. Thanks for listening, Mark, very glad you liked it!
