This is my solution

The "Sort by" layouts are all I use except for one custom layout for effects. It is based on the "Sort by Category" layout except with nested folders so the layout is not as tall.

There are two basic track types in CbB: Audio and MIDI. The signal flow of a soft synth is MIDI > Soft synth > Audio So soft synth need at least one MIDI track to hold its data and one Audio track to capture the sound produced by the synth. An instrument track is a hybrid track created from a MIDI track and an audio track with a soft synth routing. IOW, it is a simplified version of the minimum setup needed to use a soft synth.

The track drop downs are not there because of the workspace setting. The are visible in the instrument (MIDI tab) and MIDI track inspectors regardless of the workspace setting. I prefer using the TTS-1 UI to setup the plug-in just like most other plug-in synths. Few soft synths support general MIDI and do not take advantage of the track drop downs.

From the e-mail To get the library log into to your GForce account. It is on "My Instruments" below the M-Tron Pro installers.

Could be the same as this thread
-
Start with one of the existing layouts and manually add the other plug-ins or build the entire layout from scratch I see no advantage to maintaining one big file.

Try changing driver mode WASAPI Exclusive will not share the driver with other applications Also make sure that the default sample rate in Cakewalk and Windows are the same

New Pro-Channel Presets - where are they?
scook replied to Skyline_UK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes, for new features a good place for info (other than the announcement) is the new features section of the help http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.03.html I might have used a different image with a preset loaded so the image would read something other than "No Preset" but that is the display when a PC module is initialized. -
New Pro-Channel Presets - where are they?
scook replied to Skyline_UK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
They are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\ActiveMovie\Presets -
Not that I know of... and in fact many interfaces only really sample at 20 bit due to the limitations of A/D conversion. IIRC some drivers send 32 bit data to the DAW not because of the hardware but the extra processing done by software that comes with the interface. Still they are the exception. An ASIO driver sending 24 bit data is just fine.

I believe this may happen if CbB was told to import a previous SONAR config and the "Always Use Local Help" was set in preferences. CbB does not have a local help file and the option was removed from preferences but the code is still in the program. To eliminate the error either set UseOnlyOfflineHelp to 0 or remove it from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core Or copy an old SONAR.CHM from a previous install but this is not as helpful as it was back in 2018 and will be less useful as the program continues to get updated.

Yes, or the plug-ins will not appear in the layout. Only the factory supplied "Sort By" layouts are automatically updated. You may create a layout with both effects and synths but they will not appear together when displayed.

Latest Softube Update Breaks their Pro Channel modules.
scook replied to Vernon Barnes's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I got a reply from them last week. There is a problem with the Vermona Random Rhythm module for Modular along with the PC modules. While their suggestion (disable Open GL support) did not fix the problem and I told them so, there was no indication they did not support CbB or the PC format. I figured out why my Saturation PC module was OK. I have an older dll for the Saturation plug-in in my PC module folder. When I renamed the old dll, the plug-in broke like the other PC modules. This lead me to a (hopefully) temporary solution for the rest of the Softube PC modules. Here is what I did - excluded the VST2 plug-ins in the plug-in manager installed the previous release of the plug-ins copied the VST2 dlls into C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal ran a scan and validated the PC modules worked ran the latest installers ran a scan and validated the VST3 plug-ins worked with the PC modules -
Melodyne and Drum Replacer not working [Solved]
scook replied to Peter Bruck's topic in Instruments & Effects
Having already purchased a license for Melodyne Studio I did not install the Melodyne bundled with CbB. I can tell you BA looks in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Installers to determine what products have been installed. My guess is it should be pretty easy to see which key holds the Melodyne install info. Delete the key and BA should think the product is not installed. -
The event list menu has been removed??
scook replied to KyoungSikChoi's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
When a feature appears missing but is in the documentation such as the Event List view chances are a workspace is running that does not have the feature. Either create a custom workspace or set the workspace menu to None. For interpolate use the Find/Change dialog in the Process menu -

Melodyne and Drum Replacer not working [Solved]
scook replied to Peter Bruck's topic in Instruments & Effects
WRT DrumReplacer and Melodyne runtime -
Here are two ways to set the instrument in the plug-in UI. Each one of the 16 channels may have its own instrument assignment and there are up to 4 outputs set in the system > option buttons on the Plug-in UI.

Melodyne and Drum Replacer not working [Solved]
scook replied to Peter Bruck's topic in Instruments & Effects
The VST3 spec recommends VST3 plug-ins install in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 there is no provision for alternate locations. Most manufacturers do not provide the ability to install VST3 files outside of the specified folder. While DrumReplacer uses ARA tech and VST3 format, it is not a regular VST3 plug-in. FYI SONAR and CbB must be installed on the same drive. They share some registry entries, folders and utilities. -
There is no dedicated "edit mode" separate from the "multi-track" mode. Most functionality of an audio editor is available but not as a dedicated view in the DAW. If you are more comfortable using a dedicated audio editor such as Audition, it may be added to Cakewalk. Rarely do i call out to a dedicated editor but have a variety of them and tools (and documents) added to the Utility menu. I wrote a free tool to make this integration easier. ToolsEditor is available from this thread If you have any questions about ToolsEditor and the tools available in that thread please post them there.
