  1. AFAIK, only two other plug-ins support this feature (Cakewalk Session Drummer and FXpansion BFD3) and both only change the notes mapped to the instruments in the plug-ins. They leave the rest of alone. They show up as MIDI note numbers.
  2. No Try one of the free Code FN42 plug-ins mentioned above. They both load up as synths and are designed to pass MIDI data. On their own they make no sound but will still need a Simple Instrument Track or audio+MIDI pair. For plug-ins like these I use a SIT.
  3. AFAIK no Ample Sound products have ever been bundled with SONAR or Cakewalk by BandLab. Here are the synths bundled with CbB
  4. Where does it say These are not part of a standard Windows installation. Some plug-in manufacturers use these folders by default (the second should be "C:\program files\vstplugins" no space between vst and plug-ins) but the locations are optional and the installers create them as needed. When installing VST2 plug-ins most installers provide a way to designate where the plug-ins are installed. This may be one of these paths or somewhere else. Where ever the plug-ins are installed, the most important thing is make sure the path is in Cakewalk VST scan path in preferences.
  5. It may be looking for a version of SONAR. support@cakewalk.com may be able to help with this.
  6. It is up to the plug-in manufacturer to add the appropriate code to their plug-ins to support automatic VST2-to-VST3 migration. AFAIK, few do this. Melda Production does not.
  7. IDK much about controllers and their software. IIRC the dlls were dropped from SONAR distributions some time ago so they are not part of the CbB installer either. Here is a KB article that may help https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013438/Control-Surface-Installers
  8. Notice the Record mode is in the Project preference settings. Project preferences are stored in project and project template files. To create projects with different project preference settings create a new project template with the project preferences set as desired. Then use the new project template whenever creating new projects. Do NOT modify templates supplied by BandLab unless the templates are stored in a non-default location. Modifying templates supplied by BandLab stored in the default location may be overwritten by updates. Templates stored in non-default locations are not subject to change by update. The location for projects templates is stored in templates in File preferences. The new template may be set as the default by clicking on the star in the upper-left of the template icon in the start screen or the "Set as default template" button in New Project File dialog
  9. There are a couple of ways to use the patterns supplied with SI-Drum Kit With the SI-Drums Kit UI open and in focus click the F1 key This should open the SI-Drum Kit help. Read the section in the help on "Using the MIDI Patterns"
  10. Yeah, this is not validated by the scanner, for example the Dimension Pro VST shows "Enable MIDI Output" is selected by default but the plug-in does not send data, never has.
  11. I suspect most VST MIDI FX plug-ins such as those from Code FN42 will pass through MIDI data Recently, I have tested NoteMapper and VeloScaler.
  12. When using multiple synths this is the way to go, one master with all the other synths being driven from it. There is no need to cascade synths unless one of the synths after the MSF is modifying the data for the rest.
  13. Works for me. I have "MIDI Thru" enabled in MSF Settings Surge input set to MSF Omni w/ input echo enabled.
  14. To save typing - With the SI-Drums Kit UI open and in focus click the F1 key This should open the SI-Drum Kit help. Read the section in the help on "Using the MIDI Patterns"
  15. Specifics are helpful such as VST plug-in names. Some plug-ins need to be configured in their UI to send MIDI data. Some do not. No requirement for SITs. But the plug-in generating the MIDI data must have a complete routing even if it does not produce audio. This means either a SIT or MIDI+audio pair.
  16. I am guessing this plug-in shows up as a synth so follow option #1 in this thread Add a synth plug-in (with the appropriate track(s)) to the project to play the data coming from the sequencer.
  17. There may be a problem with one of the plug-ins. Safe-mode has an option to skip plug-ins. Holding down the SHIFT key while opening a project invokes safe-mode.
  18. Depends on the synth. What synth is receiving the MIDI data?
  19. It is something that would need to be stored in templates if the request ever materialized. The request itself seems like a quick hit extending "set modules as default default" with flags stored in bus and track folders in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core\DefaultPCModules
  20. Might as well add CbB to the mix. Then at least you will have a supported DAW. WRT M1, I tested it in 64bit X3e Producer, SONAR Platinum 2017.10 and CbB 2020.08 on Win10 Home v1909. It loaded and played OK. I am using M1 v1.8.4 from Korg Collection 2 If you are using an older version of M1 consider getting the free update. The new UIs are worth the trouble. Here is a thread about it
  21. Maybe a very old version. AFAIK, recent versions do not accept a wav file on the command line. This is a requirement to pass an audio clip between Cakewalk and another program. Wavelab should work fine. Any program that accepts a wav file on its command line may be called using this method. It is also possible to add practically anything else to the tools section of the Utilities menu such as the "User Reference Guide" or any pdf. Documents will open based on their Windows association.
  22. Can't change how ASIO works but the other driver modes do not have the driver limitation. If the amp has a line out that may be a better option.
