  1. I hope you are using the term "bundling" generically. Do not use Cakewalk bundles as the principle means of archiving or backup up Cakewalk projects. Either copy the project folders, use "Save As" to a different location or a backup utility. The bundle feature in Cakewalk is primarily there for backward compatibility and project sharing (where the bundle is not the only copy of the project).
  2. While waiting for this feature here is a method that works today
  3. Why? There is a preference page dedicated to modifying Cakewalk.ini http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x200FE It may be necessary to restart CbB but this is the preferred place to perform Cakewalk.ini edits. The Aud.ini editor in preferences is even more flexible allow the file to be edited, reloaded or restored to default (restore even makes a backup before resetting to defaults).
  4. No, a regular uninstall/reinstall does not affect any user files including project data.
  5. The database in the message is %appdata%\Cakewalk\Library\Library.db As part of the personalization process the database is reset to factory defaults. It will lose any plug-in category assignments and plug-in name changes you have made. I do not recall if the database error is thrown during the personalizatino process but it would not surprise me if it did. If the error happens on subsequent restarts, this may indicate the need for a re-install. If it continues after that it is an issue for support@cakewalk.com
  6. This is the message generated when holding the CTRL key If you received something else, an image may be helpful.
  7. Yes, the Scan and Reset buttons should be enabled. Usually they are disabled when the scanner cannot be found. Either there is a problem with the scanner or the registry entry. Holding down the CTRL key while starting Cakewalk may fix the problem. If not a re-install may be necessary. It may be enough to run the uninstall from BA then download and install again. Normally the "rescan options" should not be checked. Make sure to deselected them.
  8. Instead of VSTi, look in the VST effect categories in the plug-in manager
  9. It is normal for BA to run multiple threads. Quitting BA from the settings page or from the context menu in the notification area should shutdown the application entirely.
  10. this seems to agree with the documentation linked above
  11. run the installer manually from %appdata%\bandlab-assistant\Downloads
  12. I do nothing special. It is the default behavior when adding links to posts (at least when using Windows to view the forum)
  13. Host bypass was added to SONAR X3 as part of VST3 support. VST2 plug-ins have the button disabled.
  14. For regular VST2/3 plug-ins try removing all the .txt files in %appdata%\Softube Version 2.4.96.0 of the Softube VST2/PC modules crash CbB when loaded as a PC modules. AFAIK, Softube has not been helpful at all with this problem. To use the Softube PC modules requires installing an older version of the VST2 modules. For a couple of different ways to deal with this see and the post below it.
  15. Dropping the file into an existing project is an import. This strips any tempo data from the file. This is probably not what you want to do. Dropping the file into CbB without an open project opens the MIDI file. As long as no MIDI output device is specified in preferences, TTS-1 will automatically be added with instruments assigned based on the MIDI file. This is probably how you should start. Once the project is opened either by dropping the file on an empty track view or using the menu File > Open, instruments may be changed using the drop downs shown in "C" in the image above. Use the second drop down selected the bank probably either "15488-Preset Normal 0" or "15360-Preset Rhythm". Then use the third drop down to select the instrument. Once all the assignments are made, save the file using File > Save to overwrite the existing MIDI file or File > Save As (or File > Save Copy As) to create a new MIDI file. This will have the new initial instrument settings saved in a MIDI file. If instruments are changing during playback, there are program changes in the file. These will need to be edited in the Event List View.
  16. Probably the audio buffer is too small. Depending on the device being used and the driver mode, this setting is either changed using the Buffer Size slider in preferences or the ASIO client supplied by the interface manufacturer.
  17. AFAIK, BA was originally designed as a front end to BandLab the web-based DAW created by BandLab Technologies. It is maintained by a group in Singapore NOT the CbB developers. It was extended to handle delivery and activation of CbB replacing the functions provided by Cakewalk Command Center. The 2020.09 in-app updater is the first phase of eliminating dependence on BA. Using the in-app updater does not refresh activation so until CbB can perform its own activation, BA will need to perform this task every 6 months.
  18. If this is the case, the installer should be available to run manually from %appdata%\bandlab-assistant\Downloads Once this update is completed, new updates are performed directly from CbB. 19. When working with complete MIDI files do not use import and export, use open and save. Remember when saving MIDI files they will not save VST instrument selections and settings but will save MIDI settings made in the track inspector ("C" in the image below) and header. Saving as Cakewalk projects remember all project changes.
  20. Are you using the import/export functions or the open/save functions? When working with complete MIDI files you should be using open and save. Import/Export is primarily intended for clips.
  21. Yes, in addition to track FX racks, all clips have their own FX Rack
  22. The readme included with the Tools Editor has an image of a SoundForge setup
  23. The only time one should import a MIDI file is when adding it to an existing project. Instead of importing try using File > Open Before opening the file make sure nothing is selected as a MIDI output device in preferences. Do this will automatically add TTS-1 to the project when opening MIDI files. To change instruments use the drop down (instruments are just below "C" in the image) in either the inspector or track header.
  24. This is loaded by every project. It is used by CbB for the metronome.
