In addition to the take lane notes, there is a description section in the track properties inspector and a project notes section in the Notes browser. Could also abuse the Arranger to tag section of the timeline.

Reduce or increase volume on a particular section of audio?
scook replied to Muzician's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Or use the clip gain envelope Or add a gain plug-in to the track or clip FX bin. Both Channel Tools and an empty FX Chain may be used to boost volume. There are free plug-ins for this too such as the gain suite in Blue Cat's Freeware Plug-ins Pack II -

The DCO-106 is not a VM module, it is a plug-in and stand alone synth. I have not tried the demo but there is no indication that the synth can process external audio.

The audio signal from a soft synth and a pre-fader patch point have the same routing (cf. the signal flow diagram).

ARA was developed by Celemony working with Presonus. Cakewalk was the second DAW manufacturer to adopt ARA. Logic did not support ARA until ARA2 was released. Celemony, Synchroarts and Steinberg all make cross-platform ARA2 plug-ins.

Use a pre-fader send By default sends are post fader but there is a button next to the send to change it to send the audio before the volume fader.

For now, use patch points to send audio from one track to another. Patch points may be created in the output and sends on one track and accessed in the input of other audio tracks. Aux tracks are based on patch points.

If this is the case the problem may be how the plug-ins were put on the new machine. Generally, if plug-ins have an installer, copying dlls is not sufficient. The plug-ins need to be installed using the installers provided by the manufacturer. Here is a lengthy thread on migrating to a new machine with a lot of good information

Adding Amplifiers, FX chains w/my own VST's
scook replied to David Weddle's topic in Instruments & Effects
Yes, I understand. At its core, Cakewalk has two track types: audio and MIDI. A complete soft synth routing in Cakewalk consists of a MIDI track sending data to the soft synth and and audio track receiving the audio signal from the soft synth. One or more audio effects may be placed into the audio track FX rack or ProChannel. There is a third hybrid track called a simple instrument track. A simple instrument track is a presentation of a MIDI track input section and an audio track output section. It looks like a single track, taking up the same space as a basic audio or MIDI track. In fact, a simple instrument track may be split into its constituent audio and MIDI tracks. Alternately, an audio+MIDI track pair may be merged into an instrument track. When opening a MIDI file using the method I described above, Cakewalk creates MIDI tracks to host the MIDI data routed to an instance of TTS-1 which has its audio output routed to an audio track. Because all the audio is mixed into a single audio stream by TTS-1, I suspect you will want to route some of the audio to different audio track or add additional synths and audio tracks so that different effects may be used on different instruments. If the comment about using MIDI files refers to MIDI loops and not complete MIDI performances, typically MIDI loops are imported into projects where the soft synths and their tracks are already setup. Often the import is done by simply dropping the MIDI clips into instrument or MIDI tracks in the project. Regardless, adding audio effects must happen where audio exists in the DAW, The audio output from a MIDI instrument is either going to be in dedicated audio or simple instrument tracks. Both audio tracks and simple instrument tracks have two places to add audio FX, their audio FX rack and ProChannel. There is also an FX rack in every clip in Cakewalk but lets save that for another discussion.- 21 replies

This is the part that interests me too. It only took Softube support 5 months to sort out my problem with the Vermona module. 6 months and waiting for fixes to the PC modules. Cherry Audio is releasing something new in two days.

It's really a wav. Watch the project audio folder when freezing a track. Notice Cakewalk creates a new wav file as a result of the freeze. The name of the file is <track name>(Bounced, <counter>).wav

Adding Amplifiers, FX chains w/my own VST's
scook replied to David Weddle's topic in Instruments & Effects
Audio effects go in audio track FX racks. MIDI MFX effects to in MIDI track FX tracks. MIDI VST effects are supported but take a little extra routing to use. Cakewalk considers all VST effects as audio effects. Start simple. When working with MIDI files - Make sure there is no MIDI output device selected in MIDI device preferences Use File > Open to open the MIDI file in Cakewalk This will open the MIDI file and setup the TTS-1 synth. There will be up to 16 MIDI tracks an one audio track. TTS-1 is a 16 input x 4 output mutli-timbral synth. If desired add up to 3 more audio tracks to the project to use the additional 3 outputs, using the audio track input drop downs to assign the tracks to TTS-1. Then open the TTS-1 UI and click the system button in the TTS-1 UI click the option button in System Setting assign the TTS-1 channels to the 4 outputs. Additional synth plug-ins (including additional instances of TTS-1) may be added to the project too. When doing so, all that is needed is the synth and an audio track, Either drag the synth into the project from the plug-in browser, use Insert > Soft Synth from the main menu or the insert Synth button in the Synth Rack. Select just the audio track options needed from the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog. Once the synth is added set the output drop down of the MIDI track(s) to the new synth as desired.- 21 replies

USB mic grayed out in PREFERENCE>AUDIO>DEVICES
scook replied to Laurence Levin's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
ASIO allows any number input devices and any number output devices as long as they all use the same driver. For most hardware this means the input device and the output device must be the same device. A few manufacturers supply drivers that support multiple interfaces but AFAIK none of them support mixing devices by different manufacturers. -
Waves OVox Voice to MIDI or MIDI out feature
scook replied to jeaso's topic in Instruments & Effects
Don't have OVox but the process in Cakewalk is the same regardless of the plug-in. For audio plug-ins that support MIDI I/O there are options in the VST2/3 header above the plug-in UI. Depending on the options enabled, the plug-in appears in the input and/or output drop down of MIDI tracks and the input of a instrument tracks. Some plug-ins have an additional step for enabling MIDI output in their own UI. Again, I cannot comment if OVox needs additional config in the plug-in.- 2 replies

USB mic grayed out in PREFERENCE>AUDIO>DEVICES
scook replied to Laurence Levin's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
To change ASIO drivers both the input and output must be deselected before selecting a new driver. ASIO uses one I/O driver at a time. -
Adding Amplifiers, FX chains w/my own VST's
scook replied to David Weddle's topic in Instruments & Effects
The plug-in manager image shows a custom layout. Above the plug-in list shown in the FX racks in the inspector, track view, console view and browser is a plug-in layouts option. Use this to select the layout to view. Custom layouts are below the three "Sort by" layouts supplied in Cakewalk. This image shows two custom layouts: All Effects and Categories. That said, there is no need to create a custom layout using the plug-in manager unless the layout uses nested folders. One advantage to using the "Sort by" layouts is plug-ins are automatically added to these layouts when they are scanned. Custom layouts are a completely manual process. The plug-in browser provides a way to modify the default "Sort by Categories" layout to create the layout just like the one shown in the plug-in manager. Here is the documentation for adding plug-ins and categories to the "Sort by Categories" layout. Keep in mind there are separate layouts for effects and synths. They cannot be added to the same layout. The same is true for MIDI effects and audio effects. They need separate layouts too.- 21 replies

Freeze creates a wav file just like bounce. The wav file is visible in the project audio folder. It is possible to perform any operation on the frozen track but it may be a better idea to copy the audio to another track instead of manipulating the frozen track. This prevents accidentally losing edits by thawing the track.

The second image shows 32bit Studio Instruments. These are not part of CbB and should not be used in CbB. The 64bit Studio Instruments are in a separate installer under "Install Add-ons" in BandLab Assistant.

Pro Audio SUGAR VST doesn't scan [Weirdly SOLVED!]
scook replied to Jerry Pettit's topic in Instruments & Effects
The post is about a VSTi but the process is the same for effects. They are in different categories in the Plug-in Manager. Make sure to run the scan log. It may help diagnose the issue.
