Depends on the plug-in manufacturer. Many offer an option to download licenses to your PC None. But it does require installing the iLok License Manager. The installer for this product adds PACE license service to run in the background on the PC. Depends on what "seamless" means. Here are two ways I have seen manufacturers deliver their products. Buy, download and install a plug-in. As part of the purchase process or account creation the manufacturer asks for your iLok account name. Run iLok License Manager. Drag the license to your PC. This is done inside the iLok License Manager UI. and Buy, download and install a plug-in Get a code from the manufacturer via email Run ilok License Manager, supply the code and drag the license to your PC. Either way, after adding the plug-in and the license, the plug-in is ready to scan and use. The process is not much different than any other licensed software.

How to get all VSTs running on new PC
scook replied to G Randy Brown's topic in Instruments & Effects
Here is a discussion about installing versions of SONAR and CbB onto a new machine The key is to know what needs to be installed in order and what happens if they are not. The condensed version is advanced install using minimal installation of X2+X2a to get V-Vocal (there is an video in the thread about this) install at least the Platinum program using Cakewalk Command Center install CbB That is it for the items to install in order. Installing out of order usually means the most recent version of shared utilities is overwritten. The quick fix is uninstall and reinstall CbB. At your leisure and in no particular order run the Platinum plug-in installers and use the advanced install option for X3 and older as needed to pick up plug-ins as needed. -
How to have view occupying the same Tracks View window?

When working with the multidock, SHIFT+D and D are two important shortcuts for managing the size of the docked views. -
How to get all VSTs running on new PC
scook replied to G Randy Brown's topic in Instruments & Effects
The best way to install products that have a Cakewalk Command Center installer is use Cakewalk Command Center. It handles activation automatically. Manual activation for products that have a Cakewalk Command Center installer is detailed here https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013384/Offline-Activation -
The best thing to do is forget about old 32bit synthedit programs. If you must use them plan on installing them in an area that does not require elevated privileges to write into or run the DAW as administrator.

I left the defaults for both the project and global audio folder in preferences unchanged in CbB preferences but physically moved them to my D drive and linked them to C doing this: Using Windows Explorer to move C:\Cakewalk Projects to D:\ Opening a command window as administrator and typing mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Projects" "D:\Cakewalk Projects"

"Note On" event being triggered every time I press "Play", but...
scook replied to Ted Chmura's question in Q&A
I misread the OP Session Drummers is similar to SI-Drums but has more MIDI slots to trigger. The loop transport is symbol to the right of the play icon. The MIDI patterns are triggered by MIDI notes 27 through 34. MIDI note 24 stops playing the MIDI pattern. This info in available in the Session Drummer help. To bring up the help, bring the plug-in UI into focus and hit F1. -
What theory? Given there are no hard limits imposed by the DAW, it is pretty easy to create a project that won't run. That is a pretty high bus to track ratio. There is no information provided about the tracks themselves. 20 audio tracks is nothing. 20 tracks of deeply sampled or computationally complex synth plug-ins are a different story. Ten buses simply summing up the 20 tracks is nothing. Ten buses with tens of plug-ins on each may not run at all. While freezing may not an option, bounce and archive is. It may be time to commit. Or rethink the project layout.

SOLVED Keyboard short cut for show/hide bus pane in Console View?
scook replied to Billy86's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Rarely use the console view but if I were looking for a keyboard binding and could not find it in http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x18324 I'd probably create my own if the function were exposed in http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x200DF In this case the function is called "Strips | Buses" in the Console View area -
In order to work with a soft synth, it must use an instrument track or some combination of audio and MIDI tracks. The image shows a MIDI track only. This is no audio track to play the audio data coming from the plug-in.

On startup if CbB cannot find the Global Audio folder specified in preferences, the program will silently change the preference setting to the default location. This is one reason why I use a directory junction to change the location of the folder at the OS level instead of changing the location in preferences.

Introduced in 2004, per-project audio folders have been the default for some time. The default location for the per-project audio folder is where ever the project is located. This may be specified in the Save As dialog. Keep in mind using any location other than the default results in the absolute path to the audio folder being stored in the project instead of the relative path. The menu option Project > Audio Files details where the audio clips are stored for the currently opened project. To convert projects that use the Global Audio Folder to per-project audio folders, open the project and use "Save As" with "Copy all audio with project" enabled to save the project to a new location.

Locked out of my Cakewalk account, no support available
scook replied to mered's topic in The Coffee House
Do not use the support pages on the old Cakewalk web site Email service from the old web site was turned off when the company was shutdown The current support address is support@cakewalk.com -
You only need to ask the question one time. CbB installs as an upgrade to SONAR. The "Program Folder", "Cakewalk Content", ProgramData and user folders are version specific (IOW, all SONAR versions and CbB have their own folders). The "Shared" folders such as "Shared Plug-ins" and "Shared Utilities" are upgraded to the latest versions. These are backward compatible. These folders include the 64bit DX plug-ins, plug-in manager and vst scanner. Once CbB is install, all versions of SONAR and CbB are available on the PC.

Consider editing the OP and add [Solved] to the subject Indicating a problem/question has a resolution may help someone else with a similar issue

If it is a data problem, there are two ways to fix the problem Clean up the Event List View and/or Enable "Do not intercept NRPNs" Either method works, do what is easiest for you If it is a note range problem, transpose the notes.
-
It may be related to the complexity of the project. Compare the time it takes with a single track.

The traditional method of disabling default shortcuts work for the screenset shortcuts 1 though 9 above the QWERTY keyboard. In the Global area of keyboard shortcuts in preferences is a function called "Do Nothing: Use to block pre-defined accelerators" Bind shortcuts to this function to disable them. If using workspaces, there is no need to mess with keybindings, Disable Screensets in the Show in GUI section of the Workspace Manager and screensets along with their keybindings disappear.

I don't bother with merging audio and video in CbB I prefer using ffmpeg for this task

I think I'm gona take a go at this again. Freeze midi to audio in place.
scook replied to Will.'s topic in Feedback Loop
This comes as just "Binding/grouping" those clips together. Everything mentioned so far, I do that. I'm familiar with the process. But imagine the ability (Like freeze) to "export/bounce/render" or whatever we want to call it "In place" permanently in "True wavform." I hear what you say though. Of course, my reply was to the post immediate above NOT the OP I am not going to bother repeating myself WRT the OP This was discussed at length in -
There is no duplicate bus function. There are a couple of methods to copy effects from one FX rack to another. If several effects are involved using an FX chain may speed up the copy process. This is a duplicate track function. Aux tracks can function as buses. It may be easier to use aux tracks instead of buses in this case.

I do not upload files directly to the forum. The forum has a 50MB per-user file quota I upload images and animated gifs to imgur and link them to my posts.

Assuming the notes are in the playable range of the instrument and the MIDI data is coming from a third party file, this is may be the solution

[Solved] Any way to adjust Play Volume on Audio import page?
scook replied to kday's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes, the default state is an empty file so there are no parameters and values visible when opening this screen for the first time.
