  1. It may be a corrupted image file. To redraw the image: right-click the clip area in the track view to open the context menu, select "Associated Audio Files" at the bottom of the menu, click the "Recompute Picture(s)" button in the Associated Audio Files dialog. Or Delete all the files in the Picture folder. This will clear all the images for all projects. Sometimes a good idea, if one has experienced drawing problems or repeated program crashes. Images will be recreated when projects are loaded.
  2. New 2021.04 build 145 addresses this. See
  3. Only add folders containing plug-in binaries to the scan path. Adding folders containing binaries unrelated to VST plug-ins can cause problems with the scanner. I do not use much NI stuff and have not installed Komplete but do know the free Kontakt player plug-in is where a lot of the instruments reside. Do not expect to see the individual instruments provided by Kontakt in the CbB plug-in list, instead; search the plug-in list for Kontakt. Once Kontakt is loaded in the project, there should be a menu in the plug-in to load its instruments.
  4. It may be related to how this was done. Did you follow the clean install instructions? Is the dll actually where the error message says it was found. Is the "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Drum Kit" folder intact? Mine shows 663 files in 30 folders.
  5. It is on the Install Add-Ons... menu in BandLab Assistant While themes have occasionally required updating, the Cakewalk Theme Editor has not changed since the first release of CbB. Starting with 2021.04 there is a check for out of date themes.
  6. Don't have the plug-in but do know when people refer MIDI as is done in this video things often go wrong. It is not clear what MIDI note the video intends as C1. This should be in the plug-in documentation. CbB has a preference setting called Base Octave for Pitches to set musical note to MIDI note relation. By default, in Cakewalk C1 is 12. The video may expect C1 to be 24 or 36.

  8. The record bit depth has nothing to do with the OS, hardware, interface driver or driver settings in the DAW. It is a separate setting in the DAW preferences. It does appear that if the DAW is not configured to record, the record bit depth setting reverts to its default value.
  9. The first image has no record timing master set. My guess is this causes CbB to fallback to the default record bit depth. The value does not matter. The DAW is not setup to record. The other two have a record timing master selected so they show the record bit depth from preferences.
  10. Different machines with different record bit depth settings. Once again: The bit depth in the transport is not the audio driver bit depth; it is record bit depth. ASIO drivers typically support one bit depth. When a driver only supports one bit depth the audio driver bit depth drop down is disabled. The record bit depth shown in the transport is what will be used when audio recording is enabled. It has nothing to do with the clips already recorded in the project. Both audio driver bit depth and record bit depth are global settings. They are not stored in the project.
  11. These are slightly different versions of the same DAW with different content developed and sold by Cakewalk. SONAR Platinum was their flagship product. In 2017, Gibson Brands, the company that owns Cakewalk, shut down operations. It is unlikely that Gibson will restart Cakewalk or update their products. In 2018, BandLab Technologies purchased Cakewalk IP from Gibson and hired some of the old Cakewalk staff. Using the code base for SONAR Platinum, BandLab released Cakewalk by BandLab. Other than the price, the main difference between SONAR Platinum sold in 2017 and Cakewalk by BandLab released in 2018 is the bundled content. Platinum included a different loop library and more plug-ins. BandLab continues to update and support Cakewalk by BandLab. Updates happen every couple of months. They just released an update this month Most of the content bundled with old Cakewalk DAWS is not locked to the DAW and maybe used in any DAW. However, there are a few items that are locked to the DAW and will not work outside of the product-line that included them. These items still work in Cakewalk by BandLab.
  12. With every production release, there is an associated feedback thread. The feedback thread for 2021.04 is
  13. There is a screen to add or modify Cakewalk.ini values in preferences Note: by default, Cakewalk.ini is empty so the screen may not contain any values when first opened.
  14. All the clips in a project must be the same sample rate but the bit depth does not have to be the same. The default record bit depth is 16. I set the record bit depth to agree with the audio driver bit depth.
  15. It's not due to the interface hardware, sometimes drivers are communicating between a software mixer and the DAW, these may have an audio driver bit depth higher than 24.
  16. The transport shows the project sample rate and the record bit depth The record bit depth is a global setting and is not stored in the project or project templates.

It is down to your system configuration which is not detailed in the OP. Without knowing anything more about the hw and sw involved a couple of things to do, make sure CbB is not using WASAPI exclusive driver mode verify Windows and CbB are set to the same sample rate
  18. WRT to names: Hardware uses the method described in the links above Software uses a different approach and relies on plug-in manufactures to implement the feature per the VST spec Color is another matter. This is a feature request
  19. This is a feature request for NI. If Kontakt implementing the VST2.1 effGetMidiKeyName opcode, Cakewalk would automatically show the note names supplied by Kontakt. This is how BFD3, Session Drummer 3 and Sitala note names appear next to the Notes pane.
  20. Colors - no Alternate names for notes - yes although drum maps may be a better solution for now Here are a couple of posts about alternate note names for the PRV Notes pane
  21. This means Pendulate, the free synth is also updated. Unlike Generate, AFAIK, the only way to get the updated version of Pendulate is using the promo page again https://www.eventideaudio.com/products/third-party-plug-ins/chaotic-generator/pendulate
  22. Released 27 Apr 2021 From Release Notes Individual plug-ins EQuivocate Punctuate Satturate also updated Installers at https://www.eventideaudio.com/support/downloads
  23. The thread subject could be a little more informative. After all, this part of the forum is dedicated to feature and change requests. While waiting for this to be implemented, remember it is possible to add 3rd party editors to the Utilities menu. The process supports adding an accelerator key. The bindings use the initial ALT+U to bring up the Utilities menu and an additional keystroke from the menu item name.
