  1. Garbage is garbage no matter what the format, same applies to great music
  2. Most people can't write / arrange / record / mix to a level that outperforms 24/48 and if they can they're probably not using CBB
  3. I just drag & drop the midi to a new new track, then keep it all organsed in a track folder but I have agreed on previous similar posts that some way of routing one midi track to multiple destinations would be very beneficial.
  4. You could always add your lyrics to the lyrics section in CBB
  5. Seems baltantly obvious to me. Where else did you think it would come from ?
  6. I think this is a case of PEBCAK rather than anything being amiss with CBB. "Entire Mix" doesn't mean the same thing as "Entire Project "..this is where people go wrong
  7. Many mix issues are actually arrangement issues at heart. Tip 1. Don't use panning as an excuse to avoid proper arrangement. It's much easier to judge if your parts are masking each other if you listen in mono. Try it and it should be easier to balance everything properly. if you're not sure about best practice to properly arrange a piece there are some decent videos on Youtube that will help you. Tip 2. If you feel there is a mix issue not sure what it is the mute button is your friend. Try muting things one at a time until the track sounds clearer. It might be a part, or an effect such as the reverb that is causing most of the problems. Once you've identified it then it becomes much easier to tackle. Tip 3. On these types of track always EQ your reverb returns otherwise it sound like the track is swimming in it and the verb will be masking the low end. Some sort of high pass filter around 200-300hz on the reverb buss should do it. The built in Pro Channel EQ is ideal for this. Tip 4. Referencing. It's massivley helpful ( and free ) to use reference tracks to inform your mix decisions. You can use a plugin like Metric AB that makes this easier or you can just import them directly into CBB and route them the main output but being able to go from your mix to a pro mix in the same genre can really help you get closer.
  8. Yeah but it's madness on a typical project with 50 - 100 plugins on. I don't think that's an excessive amount. When you don't know what's causing it you have to open the project multiple times, wade through the the yes/no stuff per plugin and hope to disable the one that's causing the issue. If you guess wrong you have to go through this painful process again. And again. And again. I've had to do it 40-50 times in the past just to find out the bad plugin, It's insanity it really is.
  9. Just a screen where I could tick or untick which plugins in the project to load would be a huge benefit over having to laboriously say yes or no one by one
  10. I'm not proud, so long as they pay the sync fee I'm good.
  11. Short track for Advertising / Promo use. ? https://on.soundcloud.com/czVNj The main synth part is Dune3 with the drums programmed with the 909 kit from ArturaiaSpark. NI Session Guitarist Mint for the guitar part and the pitch drop vocal effect is courtesy of Little Altar Boy.
  12. Please let me know if this already exists but I would like to be able to quickly re-solo a selection immediately after un-soloing it I feel this would e very helpful when you're trying to A/B things in a project and make fine adjustements..the ability to flick back and forth between two states The workflow would be: 1. Make the selection of solo'd tracks as per normal 2. Unsolo them all in the contol bar in the standard way 3 , But then have the ability to immediately re-solo that previous selection using the same button and perhaps a modifier key Voila...... Thank you
  13. Same here - I also found a pair of +0.75 really glasses helps ! ? ( I need +2.0 for reading but they are no good for the PC )
  14. Yes I think I have seen this too put not really paid it any attention
  15. That's great man, congrats. 99% of the folks making music never get to the stage of having it heard on TV...you're part of a very select club. Once you've had like 100 placements some of the novelty of hearing them on TV will start to wear off though ?. The new Export module is fantastic, although I had to persuade Noel to add the export by folder option - IDK if you've had to deliver stems yet but it it makes it super easy for those of us that need to. Love the Arranger too but I mostly use it to define the Export area of my track so the Alt Mixes will always be the exact same length. PM me if you want to chat Libaries, I'll tell you which ones have sucked for me !
  16. Started in 2016 - tough gig ! You have to be very versatile. I'm in 10 different Libraries, 550 tracks, over 1k broadcasts deep now in about 350 shows...really makes you learn the DAW when you make that much music . I am just working on Medieval style track for an album now. Never done one before. Last week it was Tension Underscore, then before that I was doing positive guitar stuff and I started the month of doing Old Skool Breakbeat type stuff but we're not allowed to use samples so you have to kinda make it sound like you sampled stuff you actually played ?
  17. Is it though ? - Really they are just 3rd party plugins licensed for inclusion in Cakewalk , I've nothing against them being improved but not at the expense of other more important things. They are great for those who don't want to spend any more - you can do a whole mix with them no problem but they are easily replaced with other 3rd party options for those that need better. I remember when I had to upgrade from a 486DX4 100mhz to a Pentium 95 just so I could run a single instance of Antares Autotune I sometimes have to make urban music as well - had some on the NBA channel this year iirc but it's just one of many genres I make for TV music libraries. 100% agree we are desperate for a proper sample based workflow and I would much rather Noel and his team use their talents to work on much needed features like a Sampler and a Chord Track than give us a slightly more functional Pro Channel EQ - I think that would be a waste of the Bakers time and energy. I think they do understand but they have different perspectives. What one person thinks is a good idea may not be of concern to others depending how they use the DAW. Most of the requests that get shot down are ones that have existing solutions or very marginal gains for the effort needed. Some are the result of very unique workflows that very few would benefit from. I'm not saying that nobody would benefit from improved PC plugins and I'm not against it per se but I believe the ones we have are perfectly fit for purpose and the folks that outgrow them would be inclined to pay for something more specialized. I just think if there are limited resources that can be put into the overall development of the platform then it's just near the bottom of a very long list compared to other requests. ( like a sampler )
  18. Personally I would rather the Dev Team work on the actual Cakewalk App itself because there are a gazillion FX plugins out there of all shapes , sizes and budgets. I don't use the Pro Channel myself as my workflow pre-dates the Pro Channels existence and I'm faster with my go to plugins but if you want more Pro Channel Functionality you can host 3rd party plugins within it right ? They don't have to be specific Cakewalk ones. So I would advocate for that - and if that doesn't work well enough ( which IDK as I've never tried it ) then maybe ask the Devs to make the PC hosting of 3rd party plugins even better.
  19. Hey Folks Because I make so much music I'm all about the workflow, so over time I've added my own macros and shortcuts to my Streamdeck to make up for some things I feel CBB is missing that save me time. The one I use the most is whilst in the Track View is : " Transpose Up or Down one octave " - I made one button for each. Just select the clip and hit the button. Boom. Done. I find this super handy, it works on midi & audio and my workaround is basically a macro of : Process-Transpose- with +/- 12 semitones which then hits OK. It is way faster than doing it manually as it only takes a split second for the macro to complete, but it allows you to quickly try parts in different octaves and is especially handy during arranging for midi strings and pianos etc. or doubling orchestral part that need to be in different octaves. There is already a shortcut for Process-Transpose that can be bound to a key but this takes it one step further by going up or down an octave PS - I know it can be octave shifted in the PRV but I am talking about just in the Track View to save time. Whilst I can happily use it on my own streamdeck I think if this could be incorporated as a keybinding option a lot more folks would make good use of it.
