Steinberg discontinues support for VST2 plug-ins
Byron Dickens replied to Milton Sica's question in Q&A
This has already been discussed extensively. -
I spend most of my time with Labs making music, not staring at the installer. I don't really care what the app thinks. They are on my computer and they make noise anyway. Its kind of a known bug in the Spitfire app that doesn't affect whether the libraries work or not.

I'm with you on this. I got my old Korg X3, a Minilogue and more VSTis than I will ever use. Along with a bunch of guitars, two basses, a bouzouki and a drum kit. I'm working on making the most of what I have and weeding out what I never use.

I'm confused. Is this new math or fuzzy math?

Simultaneous USB MIDI devices from multiple vendors
Byron Dickens replied to David Thiel's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Awesome you got it working. I was going to suggest next that if any of these keyboard controllers have traditional 5 pin DIN connectors to try hooking them up that way through a MIDI interface. -
This E-mu discussion is academic anyway because it won't even work properly on modern versions of Windows anyway. I found out because I had a copy from when it was still available from Creative Labs. Those sounds are readily available from legitimate sources anyway. So why bother with a pirated version that someone uploaded to archive.org. "Not available from Creative any more. Creative have eliminated everything Ensoniq and E-Mu from their site except for a couple of pair of their earphones branded E-Mu. I have placed the Proteus VX and the Emulator X3 in Archive.org as abandonware." https://www.kvraudio.com/product/proteus-vx-by-e-mu If that ain't pirated software, I don't know what is. Again, just because something is abandonware doesn't make it public domain.

Yeah. I'm a cute little troll. Over half my posts are Mac fanboy proselytizing and I've never once responded to someone's request for help with Cakewalk. Oh, wait.... https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/profile/7891-hugh-mann/content/ No, I don't own a Mac and I'm not going to either. I despise the way they do business. I'm not such a great fan of Microsoft either, just to be fair, but they don't have a reputation for breaking software. Yeah, yeah "Rosetta" and all. Whatever. PCs don't need something like that.... You don't see developers making such a big deal about now being compatible with the latest Windows update or Intel core i9. I wonder why that is. Google I also don't like very much either, but at least they don't throttle my phone when I update Android.

Yeah. You tell 'em. Screw what the Bakers say. What do they know anyway?

I don't think so. "Digital Sound Factory has an exclusive license with E-mu to re-master the primary source libraries to function on modern computer formats." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Sound_Factory Now I could be wrong, but I believe that this Proteus x were talking about is just all the old Proteus modules put into software.

That's good to know and thanks for clarifying. I didn't mean to imply that you were advocating theft. However, a lot of people don't understand that just because a company goes out of business doesn't mean that their intellectual property is free for the taking. I wanted to make others aware of that and that the stuff is readily available from a legitimate source.

On 9/9/2021 at 8:57 AM, Morten Saether said: Incompatible ASIO driver detection Cakewalk will now detect use of known incompatible ASIO drivers and warn the user to switch to a different native ASIO driver or WASAPI Shared mode for a better experience. This is in response to many reports in the field of such drivers causing problems in Cakewalk. ASIO4All variants are currently flagged as being incompatible. Note: Users may still use these drivers but Cakewalk will not use them by default. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/33601-closed-cakewalk-202109-early-access-updated-to-build-137/&tab=comments#comment-273339 Emphasis mine

I hate to break this to you but that interfere doesn't have a proper ASIO driver, it uses ASIO4ALL which is known not to work properly in CW. Having said that, why not just use it the way you have found it to work? But be forewarned: for best results, you must use ASIO if you are recording multiple tracks or you will eventually run into latency and sync issues.
