  1. If it is such, I apologize, but I do not yet know what it is. I agree it seems crazy, but I can imagine situations? I thought all major softwares require online activation so I'm not quite sure how that would get hacked?
  2. Whoa! I wonder what crazy door I just opened? I found an "approved" seller on ebay selling SD3 for $50! Details claim it to be a digital download though it speaks of sending via USPS?. Clone from China? I don't know. Poor as I am, in desperation, I couldn't resist trying. Here's hoping for the best! ? For anyone interested, I'm trying to include a link to the deal... https://www.bestdeals.today/toontrack-superior-3?origin=google&google_params[matchtype]=b&google_params[network]=g&google_params[device]=c&google_params[creative]=466553349346&google_params[keyword]=toontrack superior 3&google_params[adposition]=&google_params[adgroupid]=58646400169&google_params[campaignid]=1423252507&bs=6e3ujAxYZWNqEUoGOPQFzPOdZ4f4aGkt9W83ujLcCrgrYcaxzjFyYPcxIRamK9hz1qBtmyObdtZAamxH-e3tfPJqTnvaKEJT&google_params[feeditemid]=&google_params[targetid]=kwd-356744287080&google_params[loc_interest_ms]=&google_params[loc_physical_ms]=9032366&google_params[devicemodel]=&google_params[target]=&category=20&dest=0&sys_id=0|458&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu7OIBhCsARIsALxCUaNT2U6nPoKOkWduXv_V76caGNvjp2JZPFOJ9tx8OIUCQKzXVJA_6koaAoLsEALw_wcB Hope that works?
  3. Thanks Jackson. Yeah, that sounds much as my own thinking has been leading me. I also just noticed another item. System Requirements. This machine is hardware limited to windows 8.1 which works great and I have no problems with. Surely not the non-stop issues I hear of with win10. ? BFD requires win10 and I don't know if it is only regarding support or actually will not install on win8.1? So now I'm leaning more towards SD3 typically my second choice. It seems a shame that along with the changes in many recording situations (non "pro" studios) The simple work model of: 1: Instrument makes a good sound 2: record it ...had been replaced (mostly due to single-room studio environment issues) by something more akin to: 1 :record it 2: make it sound good What in my earlier days I would think of like "fix it in the mix". Nothing wrong in so doing at all, but if I'm paying for something I prefer to choice what I'm buying. I don't want to buy a less than optimum sounding kit (of any given "flavor") forced by a talented engineer to conform to his desire. I want to buy a brilliant sounding drum kit well sampled/modelled/etc and at the mercy of MY will to shape to my desire! ? Having those as options is a wonderful extra for those who desire such, but for me, I consistently find it lacking in the end. But I digress. A few months back I installed SD3 on a friend's mac for him. Interface? much like AD2 for me, livable, powerful, not the best for all "issues"? But heard some great sounds in passing. Probably very internally processed <sigh>.... but one can hope? Between this and having a negative budget, I think I'm doing ok for what I got, but would like to find a better solution. I don't need a whole lot of what these programs offer. Just the basic discrete multi-layered drum pieces and a basic mapping output is all I use. I turn off all vst's internal fx/rooms/etc and map to discrete outputs.... My tape machine! That's more the way I think as a musican-turned engineer of so many years. I understand well how so many others prefer to simply scroll therough presets to find someone else's work to achieve. We all need partners at some level but we can each choose? It's funny how over the years, the sounds I recorded in studio for others always far exceeded what I could create in my bedroom/home+ studio for myself. But it has improved with time and technology to where I can feel so close to the solution.................. Sorry for rambling on.
  4. Thanks abacab... Just the kind if info that might help me. Off to check the link...
  5. Thanks guys... now I’m starting to hear what I’m looking fir. All 3 of these are the same in essence. They all allow for extensive processing. That’s good for some, but I prefer to process the recorded sounds my own way using a well sampled/recorded drum kit. Not a kit that needs a lot if processing to sound good. I guess much of my method harkens back to my studio upbringing. Getting a kit to sound good, then record it as opposed to recording a kit then processing it to make it sound good. These all have internal eq/compression/etc., but I prefer to turn it all off and use such devices of my own choosing. Both AD2 and SD3 treat some cymbals as overheads instead of individual pieces. I can work with that but I prefer BFD's approach with individual faders per cymbal... ...but I worry about the company health of BFD from fxpansion to the new owners.
  6. Not an enemy... a driving force pushing me to improve. My 12th solo album (Outside by In Exile on Deep Space Records) shipped to me from manufacturing today. It’s official release isn't until 11/23/21 so I’ve got lots if time to prepare for sales. As always using CDBaby to facilitate distribution and collections to/from all streaming/download sites as well as hardcopy (CD) sales. So I’m feeling a bit burnt with the limitations of my current drum sound. ...Hence this post to gather info about SD3 and BFD3
  7. Ha! Maybe I’m simply a crotchety old man who's very picky? As an engineer, I've spent uncountable hours recording/mixing drums and strive for my ultimate drum sound to this day. Lots of good stuff along the way, but drums in the box has been chased it seems forever. As it has improved, I feel close. I could live with AD2 as an interface (with it's issues) if they only had and displayed drum pieces more to my liking.
  8. Yes... I’m well acquanted with recording mixing drums. I've been a working engineer/studio owner for over 50 years... BTW, I do play and own a kit, but I can’t use it here in an apartment... sadly even worse, it’s a senior living apartment!
  9. Yes, but as the programs contain processing capabilities, they sell those results instead of the recording results. We can remove/replace the processing but with AD we don't get to hear the fundamental sample. Just not what I want. AD has a very limited library of sounds and though I own a number of kits, I’m far from thrilled. I don’t know how I will pull it off, but I must get something better!
  10. As I haven’t managed the $400 tag on Superior Drums or BFD, I continue to struggle with AD2 which for me was bundled with Sonar. Over time I have bought extra drum packs/kits and individual pieces. I’ve managed to cobble something together that isn't too bad but I’m so tired of living with less than satisfying sounds. I bought another snare yesterday only to discover my dislike for it too. They never allow us to hear the actual samples, only samples with lots of processing. So while I’m glad to have something, too many years stuck with this. If I had credit I would buy better, but that is sadly no longer an option. I also have SSD5Free and MTPower Drums (and Session Drummer 3) but none have what I’m looking for. So I wonder now. I prefer the BFD3 interface, but the company’s situation makes me hesitate in the extreme. SD3 has some goid sounds but the interface is similar to aspects in AD2 which I don’t like, but learn to live/work with. Finally, my question! I’m interested in hearing opinions regarding these drum synths to help me decide on a direction to choose. Thanks!
  11. Thanks Jonathan. I suspected something of the sort but felt it couldn’t hurt to report "just in case"...
  12. Just installed. Release notes in Firefox opened to Update 1, not 2...
  13. Thanks. ? I didn’t think to try that. I have a few other synths if theirs. Probably good to test same job with a different brand too. I see how I'll be starting Saturday!
  14. Oh well... Good idea, but setting edit filter to clips (on either/both MIDI/Audio-synth) did not change this. After adding the NRPN envelope to the MIDI track, it will not freeze no matter the freeze settings.
  15. I didn’t think to try that. Good idea. I will try tomorrow. Thanks!
  16. I haven't run into this before.... Using Cherry Audio's CA2600... I add an envelope assign to nnrpn for filter frequency cutoff on the midi track. Synth will no longer freeze. Freezes fine if I don't use the envelope. What am I doing wrong?
  17. Nice job Cherry! I’m loving this new vsynth from you. Sounds thick! UI is excellent! I seem to be amassing a collection of your synths currently! modular arp2600 8 voice memorymode Can hardly wait to see what’s next, but these 4 will keep me busy I’m sure!
  18. Wow! A cool one I just saw. I use my own workarounds for this but it would be Fab to have. Live recording with fx printed! Use compression etc while recording and print! ...like in a real studio! ? -edit FR for this FR? Option for dual-path recording to print Both raw and processed input simultaneously to 2 separate tracks! (I can dream, can’t I?)
  19. Thanks Noel... I gotcha. I knew that to be the current status. I was thinking it was toward complete separation where a direct d/l would be available. I guess not and no harm for sure. A very minor item in exchange for a copy of (argueably) the best DAW available? Great deal!
  20. I’m using an 1824 Their' driver install defaults to installing all if the drivers. I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing making certain only the Audiobox ASIO driver us selected. That will clean it up fast. Edit ------- Big Oops! I'm using an 1818VSL Sorry 'bout that!
  21. Ok, I get it. But why can’t the need for the installer be removed entirely? Simply downloading Cake and authorizing (now internal) The installer must have some other purpose?
  22. Excuse me for any unintended display of ignorance, but why do we need this? I thought recent efforts were to allow in-app updates (which I appreciate very much)? I enjoyed working with CCC back in the day as there were so many products needing attention, but now it’s only Cake really. Is this preparation for adding more products? (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
  23. I am now, but that was posted during/after 2021.04 I don't know if the situation still exists. Not a show stopper for sure and I haven't re-visited.
  24. Nothing of great alarm, but I just saw this... I added and FX Chain Module to a ProChannel and added the Waves Puigchild 660. All is working fine except I notice that the LED for the FXChaim Module does not light at all? Anyone?
  25. Yeah, me again with same old issues. I simply find it hard to accept that no one else sees this as a major issue. It’s so in my face so much of the time. The behavior of zoom when working with lanes? Lanes in multiple tracks simultaneously? Once upon a time a lassoed area was what you got. Not so with lanes. Multiple tracks open? Very important the track (promoted) image is large and lanes small? Backwards most of the time as we are obviously focused on the lanes, not the track! ...And brings me to the related issue. Those (promoted) track images serve a purpose when the Lanes are closed, they are in they way most often when lanes are displayed causing confusion for the eyes. We really need a way to turn off those images by user choice. How long have we had lanes? Feels like a lifetime of struggling with this issue. I'm hoping someone has been addressing these issues even though no releases of such as it’s been such a long time. I will continue to wait and remind again when I hit my frustration limit next. Thanks for all you do!
