I'm unable to create a Melodyne Region FX using the Clip Menu drop down. See GIF. I've verified no region FX clip created. I rolled back to 2022.02 and restarted my PC and the problem persisted. So apparently my problem is not related to the update (and likely pilot error), but I also know that Melodyne Region FX were working on Wednesday PM.

Dragging Multiple Clips with Take Lanes [Solved]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks. That appears to be the case, but I just couldn't find it. Hopefully I'll remember next time to CTRL+ Click all tracks when CTRL+ A fails.- 6 replies

Dragging Multiple Clips with Take Lanes [Solved]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks again. Nope. "Display Muted Tracks and Ghosted Data" are both ticked. Those clips do start at zero, but they are slip edited (cropped) rather than muted. I've confused things by continuing to update my previous post after you replied. I was able to move the three clips including takes and envelopes by using CTRL+Click to select the three clips sequentially rather than using CTRL + A in the clip pane to select all clips. Any idea why CTRL+ A doesn't work?- 6 replies

Dragging Multiple Clips with Take Lanes [Solved]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks. I de-selected "Select Track Envelopes with Clips" and tried again. No luck. I re-enabled "Select Track Envelopes with Clips" because I want to move them as well. Then I opened the Event List, selected all tracks and cropped tracks (which includes a couple of empty tracks that were hidden in the first GIF). See 2nd GIF. There don't appear to be any events to the left of the visible clips that I want to move. Problem solved (sort of). I CTRL+ Clicked the clips in tracks 1-3 (the only clips in the project) and was able to drag all three (including all takes and envelopes) to 1:00:000. This doesn't work if I use CTRL+ A in the clip pane to select all clips. Any idea why? I'm sure that I'm missing something obvious. It seems I've been here before.- 6 replies

I'm trying to drag the three clips in this project left to 1:00:000 but can't. The first track has 3 take lanes, the second one has 4 and the last one has 1. The take lanes are actually a combinations of takes and vocal parts. and I may move some takes to additional tracks as I work on the mix. For now I want to move everything to the left so tracks 2 & 3 start at 1:00:000 and keep all tracks/takes aligned. Right now everything is aligned right down to the sample level and I'd like to keep it that way. Also what is the best way to move take lanes into separate tracks and keep them in sync. I'm guessing bounce to tracks then deleting the original will be one method that will keep the new track in sync with the existing one but was hoping there are others. SOLUTION: Using CTRL+ Click to select the three clips with take lanes hidden allows the three clips to be dragged left. (Not shown in original GIF below) CTRL + A doesn't work. I verified the settings recommended by @msmcleod and couldn't find any events that would prevent dragging to the left. I thought that CTRL+ A in the clip pane and CTRL+ Clicking the three clips accomplished the same thing since all events are in those tracks, but that's not what happened this time. There's something there but I can't find it.

Thanks. News to me.

Is it the asterisk (*) makes the project dirty (i.e. unsaved changes). Was "dirty" a typo?
-
Thanks for the clarification, but I do have a question: What makes a project "dirty"? I'm guessing it's an auto-correct error but I can't figure it out.
-
I think each autosave over-writes the previous autosave so that there's only one copy that's updated at the frequency you choose. Versioning produces multiple versions and you get to decide how many you get. I use both plus frequent manual saves and save-as for milestones.

RESYNC AUDIO IN PROJECT / TAKE POSITION LISTING IN TIME
Bill Phillips replied to Milton Sica's question in Q&A
My theory is, the clip properties meta data including start time is in the individual clip files not the project file. But I've never needed to test or prove it. If so the clips know where they belong on the time line. -
RESYNC AUDIO IN PROJECT / TAKE POSITION LISTING IN TIME
Bill Phillips replied to Milton Sica's question in Q&A
Doesn't clip properties provide the start time and length for each clip? Also you may be able to load clips at their original start time. -

[ SOLVED ] How to split a stereo track?
Bill Phillips replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Why not use Tracks > Bounce to Track(s) and select Split Mono format? -
OpenGL version and capacity make a difference for some plugins. A number of the iZotope plugins I have and other plugins will use GPU processing capacity when the graphics card OpenGL version equals or exceeds the minimum they are designed for. I think GPU capacity is mainly used by plugins with sophisticated GUIs to run more smoothly and reduce CPU loading when the GUI is open.

I noticed that the video used both the 4K S-Type bus and channel compressors. Is there any particular reason for these particular selections for these particular examples? The controls on the two compressors are different. One has an Attack knob allowing continuous adjustment and the other a Fast/Slow toggle and the Bus versions has a Mix control that isn't used in the example. But to me it looks like either compressor might work in either example and the selection was arbitrary. Am I missing something?

Bus meter settings not retained when reopening a project
Bill Phillips replied to Mo Jonez's question in Q&A
Did you change to "none," save, close and re-open? I'm not at my DAW right now, but I don't have that problem and don't think I ever have. I don't change individual channel meter settings. I use meter settings in the dropdowns to set all meters of a given category in track and console views. So I can't comment on that. -
Bus meter settings not retained when reopening a project
Bill Phillips replied to Mo Jonez's question in Q&A
It could be the Workspace you're using has different bus meter settings that get restored when you open the project. Save (update) the workspace before you close and see if that solves the problem. -
Weird line marker appearing in Track View
Bill Phillips replied to Lost Phases's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think the Performance power plan is recommended for DAWs. -
I've been following this topic and wanted to chime in with a thank you for that comment. Like you I pro-actively check for and install updates manually to avoid "transparent updates." I've always worried that I might be assigning causation where it didn't exist because my paranoia was clouding my judgement on this. But, for as long as I can remember, I've frequently noticed that when apps (not just Cakewalk) stop working or become unresponsive out of the blue resulting in me shutting down or restarting out of frustration to give it a fresh go, I'll get that "install updates and shutdown" or "install updates and restart" dialog and realize that the Windows "transparent update" feature really doesn't work and never has.

I think the notes stay with the project and include statistics and status information provided by Cakewalk. -
Imported Audio Not Showing Up in Explorer [Solved]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks John. I'll probably do that and then delete this project and verify that the source files in the project have not been modified or deleted. I don't believe this has ever happened to me before. I'm going to report it as a bug. Bill -
Imported Audio Not Showing Up in Explorer [Solved]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
You are correct! Thank you for setting me straight. I was staring straight at it and mis-read the folder name. So to me this is a bug and I'll report it. This project is supposed to copy audio to the project audio folder and it didn't. That's scary. I could inadvertently modify source audio files corrupting the source file. Bill -
Where are the two audio files recently imported into the project shown in the GIF? Explorer is not showing the two files (last two in project shown in GIF) in the project Audio folder even though the Associated Audio Files popup shows that they are in the Audio folder. I've saved, closed and reopened the project but they are still not there. This is a new problem for me that I don't recall ever experiencing before and it worries me. I don't want changes made in this project to affect audio files in the project the audio was imported from but at this point I don't know where those audio files actually are. They have to be somewhere because they load when I reopen the project.

Here's what I did having learned what I needed to do from @Promidi: I found and watched How to clone NVMe SSD to new or larger NVMe SSD (Easy Step by Step Tutorial) I purchased the NVMe External Case recommended in the video and a Crucial P5 1TB NMVe I also downloaded and installed Macrium Reflect Free disk imaging software recommended in the video. Following the instructions in the video I cloned and replaced my existing 250GB NVMe SSD with the 1TB NVMe. For me the instructions in the video for extending the System (C:) partition didn't work because of the 500MB Recovery partition following the System (C:) partition. So, I purchased and downloaded EaseUS Partition Manager that @Promidi uses and followed Instructions on EaseUS website to move and extend the system drive. I found videos showing deleting the recovery partition and showing manually imaging and moving the recovery partion but decided to use EaseUS instead. Hope this is useful to others with the same problem. Thanks again @Promidi. A screenshot of my replacement 1TB disk 3 including the extended (C:) drive is attached.
